moral of the story, always ask questions to the locals, esp to a dwarf girl with phenomenal memory.
Hahahha😂😂
That's actually the biggest weakness of this movie. An auctioneer will research the house just by nature. Virgil's mistske here is like as if a doctor forgot to check someone's pulse b4 declaration someone dead!
If a good looking woman tells you she's single and that she's afraid of the world, triple check.
Agreed, the issue would've been solved in the first act. LOL.
🤣😂
Morally of the story: Don't be a scammer. You can be the "best scammer in the world" but someone else will be more canny that you.
Well, he scammed peoole out of money, but did not cause them a psychological breakdown.
What was done to him was despicable and unfair by any means.
@@alyonaf1054 He had a mark he was blind to. Another conman saw it and played him.
Moral of the story: don't trust women. And trust your gut instinct (the mechanic not being trustworthy).
@@RobDaCajun I need to emphasize once more, his victims were oblivious to being scammed. He did not hurt them.
We're talking about 2 completely different things. I'm talking about the impact of those scams.
You're talking about the fact they are all scammers. Yeah, I kinda get it :))
@@MirceaIliePloscaru dude, literally 2 MEN played him and orchestrated all that shit.
But OK. I guess men are.more trustworthy.:)))
Literally there are several men in the story who are complete conartists. And 1 woman.:)))
Brilliant analysis of yours: don't trust women.
What about his "friend" who obviously dod not have a vagina?
the ending is so painful
Painfully what?
I think you mean painful

in a million years id never have chosen to watch this movie but oh my god inm so glad you covered it!! what a story!!
Moral of the story: Always question love when its between a hot young girl and an old boring rich man!
When the deal is too good to be true it is indeed not true.
Been married to a con woman I can understand his feelings.😔
Why 😂 he was literally a manipulate con artist
😂😂 so you are in for the long con?
- sorry for laughing but the comment was funny.
What woman isn’t a con? 😂🤣
Only two types of females, the one that isn’t so good at it and one that is.. Accept female nature and act accordingly. 👊🏼
Satisfaction of conning a con-artist though... You should have been more attentive.
I just saw the movie. It was heartbreaking. Even after they robbed him... he was still hoping that the young woman really loved him. He waited for her to come back. I guess that's what happens when you never had a woman in life and you grew old.
The red flag was he kept finding the gears a little too randomly around the house. The young dude he worked with knew too much about agoraphobia for someone his age, and the woman was way to young for him. I know people date ppl younger/older than their age sometimes, but not in that situation. I felt bad for the older gentleman because I was hoping he was able to connect w/someone and build a relationship/friendship. Yes, he was scamming people, but he wasn't scamming poor people. Last, follow your instincts, he fired the guy and then rehired him. If it sounds/feels too good to be true. It is. Enjoy the flick, thanks.
I saw the ending coming, I’m glad you made this video instead of me watching the actual movie lol
I will say that it's about education. I never trusted her, but the same education tells me that men tend to trust women even against evidence. Most of the victims of the scam are men.
Yeah.. women. What else is new..?
🤭
Karma is an attentive watcher 😊
Wow, what an amazing recap!! There are so many amazing movies out there that I've never heard of & never seen. Thank goodness for the recap channels. I really like the narrator's voice; it's very soothing and doesn't mispronounce names, places or things. Thank you.
It's an IA generated artificial voice, very commonly used by people doing recaps. Still, the text it was fed was pretty ok.
Creating the automaton seems to be symbolic that he's building up a fake, ideal, woman. He may think he's making his own, personal Galatea in a guilded cage, but she's actually an empty machine.
I knew it was too good to be true for the young, beautiful maiden to be in love with the man
wow, loved this!
The ending was sad 😢💔 I wish her love was true and gave him an opportunity to change and not scam people 🙁
French are depressing movies
Wooow I didn't expect that ending
🤨
I thought it would happened earlier
Wow, to wait that long for love, just to be broken..
Well, most of us get that shit out of the way early in life. Lol. He just waited a lifetime.
It seems like she is just another painting to him, something to admire.
No matter what a woman does to a man, and how little he does to hurt her, a significant proportion of women find a reason to blame it on him.
@@jaimeduncan6167 I don't understand why you're commenting that on my comment?
What woman isn’t a con. Only two types of females, one the aren’t so good at it and one that are. Just accept female nature and act accordingly. 👊🏼
@@amberlightrunner4696 Makes no sense, he just wanted to project his own victim-mentality and prejudiced onto you, so don't worry.
I am sure there are enough people who can say just the same as him but the other way around.
Just ignore it. You are not to blame for other peoples prejudices or whatever they want to project into you and your words, even if it feels like shit to be made the villain or evil b*ch because someone decides to do so just to feel better / superior.
The sus is even the girl is isolated in her room, she owns a phone. If you want total disconnection to the outside world, you should get rid anything that makes contact with you. Its highly likely she does browing her phone.
Also yes, despite she's been isolated for like 12 years, she able to get help to the rescuers even accompanied Virgil to the emergency room, like she's already familiar with what she will doing.
Also Robert peeking while Virgil and pretend Claire talking somewhat a hint.
This waa pre internet. A shut in would need a phine to arrmage for groceeies and the like.
@@blatherskitenoirlmao this was not pre internet!! They have smart phones in this movie. The internet has existed WAYYY before smart phones were invented.

The dedication to perform an elaborated scam is something that people will do though.
Beautiful movie...

The ending we deserved. I was thinking about something like that.
WOW!! What a story!
Nice movie
This movie is realistic/believable. It flows well. Acted well. Edited well too, i guess. Good movie.

Wow!
Movie title "The Best Offer"
Finally. Thanks.
Thanks for the title❤
I wasn't expecting that ending.
This is a very underestimated movie by a great director. If you have not seen it I highly recommend it.
This movie is a good one. There were a few big name actors in this. 😮
Quite interesting
To love someone and for it to end so sadly
wow!
Wow 😢
Me too😊
That was so sad 😞
Why 😂 he was literally a manipulate con artist
Love is bittersweet.
I don’t understand why that old man really believed that woman wanted him. Younger women ALWAYS are plotting when they date these old men lol not always to scam but to advance in life.
Phew! I thought younger women wouldn't date me because I wasn't a nice guy, turns out all this time it's because I don't have serious coin and am going nowhere in life. What a relief...sort of.
Why care about him 😂 he was literally a manipulative con artist, constantly lying
@@garylisteryou want a young women but she can't want a rich man 😂
Oh, and older men don't look to advance in their sexual life for sure.:)
Ever saw them picking someone old and not conventionally attractive?
I thought so.
A fair trade, in my opinion. As long as both are not delusional to believe that the other party actually cares for THEM.
No, they care for money/young body.
If that young woman suddenly falls ill or loses her attractoveness at once, an old rich man will quickly move on.
@@garylisterdo older women date you?
If not, yeah, you're probably not nice at all. Whether you're a good person or not, it's another question, but you don't give anyone a chance to find out in the first place.
Who needs a poor bloke who is also an asshole, you know?
Not everyone is blessed with abundance in every aspect of their life, but you ought to have SOMETHING to offer to a potential partner.
Also, why some men are so obssesed with "younger" women. They are for younger men, they need healthy babies (you know, aging do not only affect women's reproductive health, so I"ll never get it).
Dam what a twist
Please name of the movie

@@salmaabdullahgbhe did not cause people a nervous breakdown.
he scam people now he get his karma... when he became serious but get scam a bigger scam a love scam@bdullahgb
@@alyonaf1054Her intention was never to cause him to have a mental breakdown. At no point did she take any action with the goal of harming him psychologically. She had the same intentions and motivations that he had possessed himself throughout his life and career.
He had been scamming/stealing untold millions of dollars from people throughout his career. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more than a few people who had either short term or ongoing mental health issues due to his scams. Dealing with such an enormous amount of money, it’s practically guaranteed that he caused mental turmoil in others.
She behaved in the same way that he had done towards countless numbers of clients over the years.
When she stole the portraits from him, it’s also worth noting that she only stole artwork that he had acquired illegally. Every single portrait in that room represented an occasion where he manipulated and stole from others. It’s as if he was the architect of his own downfall and destruction. He was clearly an immensely wealthy man who had absolutely no need to steal or scam others in the first place.
If he had purchased artwork legitimately, he would never have been stolen from at all.
A scammer got scammed. Neither scammer is a good person and their actions are not justifiable. She is not any better than he is and he is not better than her. Neither character has a better footing morally than the other does.
It's still rumored to this day that Virgil is still in that restaurant waiting for Claire.
Dayyyyuuuuummmmmmmmmm 😅
Great story, too bad it is a tragic story.
The movie is interesting and very sad ending.
Yep, this is exactly how people will do you. Fall in love with them at your own peril.

claire and robert hot together though
the ending was sad its not even about money
robert dont care about stolen money painting
if clare came back he will forgive her
robert can earn money easy by trading
Why care about him 😂 he was literally a manipulative con artist, constantly lying
Yeah, they did not steal his wealth (as far as I remember).
They were just sentimental items he did not wish to trade for monetary gain (I suppose he had enough of that already).
And it's not even those paintings he was so hurt over.
A couple of commentators are going around saying people should not feel empathy for him as he was a scammer and a con artist himself.
But the reality is, he did emotionally hurt people or cause them nervous breakdowns, did he?
He scammed them out of money, but those people stayed blissfully unaware of that.:)
And they already had enough wealth to throw away at these pointless auctions. So really, he did not hurt anyone, he was just doing what pretty much all of them did, made money out of air (or inheritance, which is also, in essence, free money those rich art lovers did not earn fairly).
Do not get me wrong, I am not saying wealthy people should be stripped of their money, because "inequality", no.
Just making a point.
Losing some (not all) money is not the same as losing a loved one. As we all know perfectly well.
What those scammers did to him, however, was simply unhumanely cruel and unfair by any means. He did not deseve that. They deeply wounded and basically emotionally destoyed him, and he was not by any means a psychologically healthy person to begin with, just hearing about his childhood and observing his way of life.
So, yeah, the instruments you use matter.
If they just stole from him, that would be fair. A scammer fell victim to scammers.
But that was not what they did, was it? They could stop at any.moment seeing how deeply invested he became, but they did not.
On a side note, though, the plan was as malicious as it was genious.
They used this known psychological tactic where, in order to help a shy introverted individual leave their shell, one way is that you have to be or pretend to be even more shy and introverted than them. More scared and anxious. Thus pushing them to take the lead in communication and wish to protect you. Because they feel empathy automatically and will start acting exactly like they would want people to act around them to help them loosen up.:)
Also some old "hot-cold" games where she lures him in and then pushes him away repeatedly, that is, after she made him emotionally invested in her by causing an outrage by never showing up.
So they made him initially emotionally unbalanced which made him more vulnerable to take the bait and become interested in that mystereous woman who seems to be so much like him...
Also dead parents.
Really an excellent plot.
But you ought to have no soul to not feel devasted for what they made him go through just for money.
If there was a reason for them to punish him because he somehow did the same to them or other people, that would be a different story, but no.
They also hired some assholes to beat him unconscious. That could end very badly, btw. They would kill him pointlessly withiut even getting those paintings in the end.
It's been so many years and this moveir still touches me deeply each time I am reminded about it.
Morally of the story: if you are old and ritch HOLD THE MONEY dont share it or you loose everything. Basicli marrige
