Temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness

The international movement of Krishna consciousness is simply called "Hare Krishna". This is the informal name of the society was in common because of the mantra that the followers of a given society loudly sing in a group (a spiritual practice called kirtan). It is not just a mantra, a maha-mantra ("Great Mantra"), consisting of these names of God as Rama, Hare Krishna.
Followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness are convinced that the sound vibrations caused by the repetition of God's names, especially the Hare Rama Krishna and gradually awaken in man a pure consciousness of God, or "Krishna consciousness." And just because the followers of ISKCON worship a higher form of God, which bears the name of Krishna, they got in common abbreviation for "Hare Krishna" and not Vaisnavas, as is customary in the scriptures themselves.
Vaishnava - is the level of consciousness, in which the person is aware of the position of the Supreme Lord, and therefore seeks to fully devote himself to loving devotional service to Him. Why loving? The basis of all - is love in the highest sense of the word. And the Lord God - Love itself in the purest and highest sense.
