I'm a HUGE fan of Greer Garson. I love that woman. So gorgeous, talented and elegant. Honestly, how can anyone argue with that number 1? Perfect movie.

I’m so glad you did this video on my favorite actress. I agree wholeheartedly with “Random Harvest” as the number one pick. I remember Robert Osborne quoting a Hollywood critic saying that Random Harvest brought together the two most beautiful voices in Hollywood for the movie. Another fun fact: Did you know she got George Sanders started in his career?
They worked together in the same office in London;and she was getting work when she could on stage. She convinced Sanders to try out for a part that required singing. He’d never acted or sung before. He was musical, however, and took voice lessons from his uncle who was a vocal instructor. Needless to say, he got the part, and as the saying goes, “The rest is history”.Unfortunately, the only movie he really got to show his singing chops was in 1953’s “Call Me Madam” with Ethel Merman. He and Greer Garson remained good friends and another ironic connection to Random Harvest is that he married Ronald Colman’s widow. I think it was her untimely death that led to his suicide, not “boredom”. Thank you if you’ve managed to read through this long rant, but I thought a Greer Garson fan might be interested.

I'm so happy that Greer's performance in Sunrise At Campobello is included I mean Sunrise At Campobello it's such an underrated movie I've always believed that Greer deserved to win the Oscar for her role as Eleanor Roosevelt instead of Elizabeth Taylor

@@agustinprystupa280 Liz’s win was a sympathy win because of her near fatal illness. Even she said it wasn’t her best performance. Greer had won the Golden Globe for her role as Eleanor.

Her Scottish dance number (She's Ma Daisy) in "Random Harvest" is Oscar worthy in itself. Who knew?

You're certainly doing your bit to Keep Classics Alive! Outstanding narration as usual! You should be on TV or radio with your announcer's voice!

She wasn’t nominated for Random Harvest because she’d been nominated for Mrs Miniver. I don’t agree with all your picks but it is clear you really like Greer and that makes me happy❤

Wow I thought her speech was seven minutes, so I guess I was being tough on her 🤪🤪 I so agree overall with this list. It’s great! I do have to say while P&P isn’t the best adaptation, I think she was really great as Liz, just kind of different!! I LOVE the love for Madam Curie, it’s my mother’s favorite and I got her the Warner Archive Blu Ray when it came out. Thanks so much for the video 🙌🏻🫶🏻

I completely agree with you, Random Harvest was Greer Garson’s best movie. I haven’t seen it in many years, but I remember how good it is…better than Mrs. Miniver in my opinion. I just saw her version of The Little Foxes the other night. I thought her Regina was just as effective as Bette Davis’ portrayal.

I mostly agree with your list, but I would put Mrs. Miniver higher and I disagree about Pride and Prejudice….I think she was perfect and didn’t seem too old despite her true age.

I wish that I could comment on your ranking, but, with the exception of "Pride and Prejudice," I've had to keep my distance from Greer Garson's filmography. Frankly, I'm reluctant to undergo the emotional turmoil that her legendary performances would inspire. I cry often enough already, with minimal provocation. If I am very lucky, one day in the future, perhaps I will be able to regard her work and her beauty with (relatively) dry eyes. Thank you for your recommendations.

At the very beginning of the video when you showed her in the color man she resembled Maureen O Hara. Any hint on which actress you'll be covering next? I hope to see you cover in the future on these actresses... Marilyn Monroe, Janet Leigh, Jean Harlow, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Carole Lombard, Marlene Dietrich, Natalie Wood, Irene Dunne & thats all I can think of off the top of my head lol. Really enjoy your videos. 🤙 Oh, would you also be open to do a video on Brittany Murphy? She was one of my absolute favorite actresses of the 90s and early 2000s. Gone way to soon. 😞

Apparently opinions on Mrs. Miniver vary greatly. Personally I love it and would have placed it higher. I don't know why you decided to pick on Teresa Wright either.

I am sorry but Mrs. Miniver at 4 is too low. That movie defined her career, and that performance is groundbreaking. Too powerful, should be number 1 or 2. Amazing actress though, one of my personal favourites

Too bad you fill your description of the wonderful Random Harvest with too many spoilers. I fortunately saw it knowing little about it except that it opened as the Radio City Music Hall Christmas movie of '42 and astoundingly was so popular it played there into March of '43. This piqued my interest and all the twists and turns of the plot were certainly what made the film so entertaining.
You also leave out that Holden Caulfield goes to see it there in Catcher in the Rye and mercilessly mocks it as typical Hollywood tripe.
It is one of my favorite movies though it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You just go along for the ride to be with Garson and Colman dressed in MGM glamour.

Mrs Miniver is the worst Oscar winning film.
The story is unbelievable and, worse than that, boring.
