First off I'm a huge Sid & Marty Krofft fan in general and I really enjoy a lot of their works mostly their puppet series like H.R. Pufnstuf and The Bugaloos but Land of the Lost is defiantly another favorite of mine from the Kroffts work. I didn't grow up in the 70's but I grew up in the late 90's and early 2000's. So I watched reruns of Krofft shows on TV Land in 2004. I was in high school when this Land Of The Lost movie came out in 2009 and thank god I didn't see it in theaters when it came out. It was months later when Walmart was selling the DVD that my uncle bought it because he thought it looked like a cool movie and it was in the 5 dollar movie pile bin. BIG Mistake! IMO, This film was just so perverted and appalling I was just shocked how messed up it was. I know there are some people who like this movie and that's fine. But I personally did not enjoy this film especially how they turned one of my favorite characters Enik from the original series into a villain, I felt that to take a great character played by my favorite voice actor the late Walker Edmiston was a huge slap in the face to me. I realize every movie needs a villain but they blew it with Enik. The Zarn being the villain would have been cool like twist the part where Enik is supposedly the villain only for it to be the Zarn. The only GOOD thing about this film was the dinosaurs, the sleestaks they looked realistic enough and the fact Leonard Nimoy voiced the Zarn. I actually am looking forward to the Land Of The Lost reboot the Kroffts are working on.
Think about it Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous a tv show made solely for kids is also more mature, serious, and deeper than a PG 13 rated movie and it shows that children content can not only be mature and serious it can rarely be more mature and serious than some adult content.
hey there I like where you're going with this, here's a few tips on production values: - Invest in getting better lighting. It's obvious that you're filming somewhere like in your room. Or, try to get more natural lighting. Maybe set up near an east facing window and shoot in the morning. - Clean up your cuts, you cut too often and in really jarring ways. Cut only when you need to and try to cut in a way that is easier on the eyes, for example if there's a cut in the movie, using that to make it seem more fitting and natural. You can do a few little things at a time and I think it will really bring out your videos more because I really do like how detailed they are. Practice and I think you'll get better. I'll write another comment about the content of the movie. I hope this helps.
Did Michael Bay direct this movie? The toilet humor, the obnoxious characters, the poorly integrated CGI and lack of respect for the source material, it is like the Transformers movies all over again.
At 4.56 you ask why that scene is there and it's to give people an understanding of how people can be transported to the land of the lost, and ngl will Ferrell was actually really good in this movie showed the perfect characteristics of a washed up scientist trying to redeem himself
Kinda disagree with you on a few points... At 32:11 for instance, If you think this movie did more than “rape” your childhood, you didn’t have a childhood worth raping. Yeah sure, must have had a lot of good memories in that childhood to let a movie take it away from you! 32:23 Also no one ever said this would be a true adaptation to the original series, this is kinda like the Grinch remake. Both are shitty movies, but this one shouldn’t be taken seriously. But in all respect it’s your opinion and I respect you for that.

Caught reruns of the 70s show back in the day. Sure, it was about as cheesy/cheap as an old Tom Baker era episode of Doctor Who but at least it was an adequately entertaining way to kill a half hour. Really hope the next time it's revived it'll be in the form of an animated series on Netflix. I want it to receive the Voltron Legendary Defender treatment, where the remake proves better than the original. #FeatheredGrumpy. :P
The original series had the highest budget of any saturday morning show from that time. A lot of the writers came from Star Trek (Enik was written by Walter "Mr. Chekov" Koenig and his original name was Eneg, as in Gene (Roddenberry) spelled backwards). They got a linguist to invent a language for the Pakuni. It was one of my favorite parts of saturday mornings growing up, probably because it went a bit over my head (and those stop motion dinosaurs were state of the art at the time).
True but I’ll bet the entirety of both Land of the Lost television shows are less than this movies $100 million budget even after adjusting to inflation therefore it’s effects should be held to a higher standard
If you want to watch a better version of 2009 Land of the Lost, Watch Journey to the Center of the Earth, The movie is way better than the 2009 crappy Land of the Lost, there’s no Sleestok, no Monkey Fur Bikini, no Will Ferrel, just some creepy prehistoric creatures including plesiosaurs, weird prehistoric fish and dinosaurs including Giganotosaurus. I’m telling you, the movie is way better than the 2009 Land of the Lost, you should check out the movie.
Loudmouth Reviews, I’m glad that you saw the movie. Plus, there’s another movie that features a T. rex and it’s called Meet the Robinsons and they named the dinosaur Tiny because his arms are so tiny, I really love the T. rex from Meet the Robinsons because how cool the dinosaur was, Also, the skin texture of the dinosaur looks very detailed, it’s like watching a spinoff of Dinosaur 2000. By the way, those dinosaur movies are 10 times better than the 2009 Land of the Lost. Also, in the middle part in your review, I heard that you called the Raptors that are attacking the ice cream truck and the ice cream dude the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park, that really makes me laugh. By the way, The Raptors that are attacking the ice cream truck are actually Deinonychus. Deinonychus is a larger version of Velociraptor, the Velociraptors in the Jurassic Park movies are actually based on the dinosaurs called Deinonychus, because they decided to call Deinonychus Velociraptor because it’s easy to say of the animal.
There are only three scenes that got a legit laugh out of me: Danny McBride and Chaka pretending to fall asleep to avoid going in the volcano, Will Ferrell pretending to be mean to Holly to get her to leave him (if it were under better circumstances, she should've anyway) and Matt Lauer attempting to kill him on live TV. I can't believe THIS was based on a kids show. Especially since 2009, as far as I could research, was THE year we've seen so many movies based on kids shows. See for yourself. ua-cam.com/play/PLDdYXCLMNKAFUrDXoqVqulE27AiNcKJxf.html
By what I heard, there’s some potential for a Nickelodeon movie which would have the pg rating and perhaps some tribute to both the 1974 and 1991 shows for some fan service. Oh, and I think Brian Cranston would work as the caring father: Rick Marshall!
I know I'm ultra, ultra late but.... 5:00 it actually does come up, that's the T-Rex that chases the gang throughout the whole movie and is a set up for the.. Digestion joke
Acually, I really like the Sleestak designs in this movie. They pay homage to the originals, which are iconic, but are designed to feel more realistic. I never was a fan of the more dragon looking Sleestaks from the 1991 series. I always pictured them as a separate race of reptillian people from the Sleestaks.
@@LoudmouthReviews Yeah I agree that they weren't really a threat which is a shame since they could've been like the Xenomorphs from Alien but with the hunting skills of the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park.
One thing infuriating about this movie, was the fact that two of the original cast members from the 1970's version of Land of the Lost Wesley Eure and Kathy Coleman made a short cameo appearance that was cut for no reason, You can see their cameo appearance on the DVD in a deleted scene. But still I think it would have made this movie a bit better if the original Will and Holly cameo was kept in, it would have made a great reference to the original series as well as making the original 70's Land of the Lost series fanbase very happy. It also might have made this movie a little more tolerable but they blew and this movie is complete shit!
The film's conversion of the TV series's young daughter character into Anna Friel running around in tight shorts and a tank top is Hollywood at its worst.
It seems as if you’re unbearably unfair of the budget and comedy. It’s supposed to cheesy. It’s supposed to be corny. And instead of making it a children’s movie, they aged it with their audience
Loudmouth Reviews it’s always been that way. Seriously watch the originals, rewatch the 90s version. It’s not supposed to be funny that the effects are bad, they are just supposed to be bad bc that’s the franchises aesthetic. The comedy was really cheesy in the original, I think that’s why the comedy is like that in the reboot, its homage. The 90s version was highly criticized for being so vastly different. It’s a bad movie I agree, but the entire franchise isn’t exactly something to smile at. It’s all weird as hell
"rewatch the 90s version. It’s not supposed to be funny that the effects are bad, they are just supposed to be bad bc that’s the franchises aesthetic" Or maybe its a Saturday Morning Children's show from the beginning of the 90s and that was the best they could do. Back then CGI was incredibly primitive and advanced animatronic puppets like the ones in Jurassic Park are well outside the shows budget restraints. Land of the Lost's effects were decent for the time. Hell the stop motion dinosaurs in Land of the Lost probably look a bit better than some early television CGI dinosaurs like the ones from the 1998 Lost World television show though that show was aimed at a more mature audience a full half decade later
I just watched the land of the lost, and the only good thing is the t rex, I just love his human like qualities, he's the only one that's even kinda funny, the rest are not funny, just annoying. In fact the only characters that are good are the dinosaurs. Will Ferrel is just fucking annoying,But even getting killed doesn't get this fucking man child killed. I really hate it that they don't take real advantage of the world, a world where everything and everyone can get there by a portal, but the only thing there are objects and monuments, why don't you have people from different places, different times. Like what if they encounted, Vikings, Knights and Samurai try to kill them and fight eachother. Or even they're are 3 villains, the aliens, the vikings, samurai and knights and a Nazi army, it would be awesome! Blues brothers did it
I’m sort of ashamed for loving this movie when I was a kid and I mean I loved it but now as an adult I wouldn’t torture my kids (if I had any) with this brain cell murdering peice of shit. I mean what was wrong with my parents for buying me this DVD.
@@Sic_Shawn Gender isn't the same thing as sex. Sex is a classification derived from a set of phenotypes the body presents, (testes, uterus, etc). It has nothing inherently to do with the social phenomenon of someone being called a boy or a girl. For instance, I have assigned male at birth body parts, and I display many of the phenotype characteristics of being, "male." In a loose sense, I am, "biologically male." But I am trans, specifically I'm non-binary. I call myself non-binary, my family calls me non-binary, our society calls me non-binary. That is what gender is, it's the societal abridgement of sex. They're not necessarily directly related, though. For you it might be, but for me it's not. That's what it means to be trans: not identifying as the sex you were assigned at birth. And really, if you don't understand, then it's just a problem of definitions and semantics. What I'm saying isn't wrong at all. It's very common knowledge.
@@Sic_Shawn Actually, that's a really interesting question! I think this ties into the root of gender expression. For instance, in the sense that you might like feeling like a man, I like feeling like something else. It's not an easy question to answer, but it's definitely a widely debated one among the community. I think there are many reasons someone might feel that one expression of gender resonates more for them, so it really depends. I can tell you why it is like this for me, but other people might have different answers. So, yes, it's good to ask questions! Although, you might want to look this up.
Another problem is that the dinosaurs in this movie look really ugly. They just try to make them look scary rather than accurate, like Allosaurus having osteoderms and don’t even get me started on the T. rex design. Also T. rex (like most dinosaurs) was a lot smarter than many people think. It’s brain was almost as big as a mans head and I also hate Enik had to be a twist villain and his defeat ended offscreen. And I’m not even mentioning the dancing on lava scene for obvious reason.
This movie is a guilty pleasure for me.

@@lalahaha8407what is your deal huh?
Well at the chi was really good
This whole entire video I am yelling “NEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRD!”
10 minutes in and really liking the host and honest review 👍
Danny McBride, I like you and all, but seriously Danny, stick with Eastbound and Down for Christ's sake!
The film's conversion of the TV series's young daughter character into Anna Friel running around in tight shorts and a tank top is Hollywood at its worst.
Cool video, I understand the hate but i just have a good attachment to the film and i just cant dislike it
It seems as if you’re unbearably unfair of the budget and comedy. It’s supposed to cheesy. It’s supposed to be corny. And instead of making it a children’s movie, they aged it with their audience
But bad special effects aren’t inherently funny they just aren’t. Sometimes they are if done by accident rather than by design. It’s lazy comedy
It’s not supposed to be funny that the effects are bad, they are just supposed to be bad bc that’s the franchises aesthetic"
Or maybe its a Saturday Morning Children's show from the beginning of the 90s and that was the best they could do.
You’re like watching Ben Shapiro, taking everything too seriously, and acting like every movie has to be realistic.
I didn’t argue it had to be realistic. I argued it should be respect its source material and for the comedy to actually be funny
2+2 = 35 awesome :)
Great movie. L
The movie is amazing
Hey I don't wanna strangle the woman playing Holly, she's actually probably the best actor is this dumsterfire 😆👌
We never got either of the original series in Australia , so I aproached this movie as a dumb Ferrel comedy/farce , as such I was not so disapointed.
Get a grip man, it’s just a flippin movie 🤦🏽♀️
I LOVE this movie so much
I love this movie a lot. Not as much as you apparently love looking at yourself.
Why do think this movie humor is not funny
The 2009 film is an insult and a disgrace to the 1974 TV series.
Good movie
Gender is a social construct, though :/
No its not
@@Sic_Shawn Gender isn't the same thing as sex. Sex is a classification derived from a set of phenotypes the body presents, (testes, uterus, etc). It has nothing inherently to do with the social phenomenon of someone being called a boy or a girl.
For instance, I have assigned male at birth body parts, and I display many of the phenotype characteristics of being, "male." In a loose sense, I am, "biologically male."
But I am trans, specifically I'm non-binary.
@learningomorisoundtrack3979 bro I don't care what you identify as. Why do you feel like you're non binary you don't feel like a man.
Trash movie, the show from 1974 was the best
Another problem is that the dinosaurs in this movie look really ugly. They just try to make them look scary rather than accurate, like Allosaurus having osteoderms and don’t even get me started on the T. rex design. Also T. rex (like most dinosaurs) was a lot smarter than many people think. It’s brain was almost as big as a mans head and I also hate Enik had to be a twist villain and his defeat ended offscreen. And I’m not even mentioning the dancing on lava scene for obvious reason.
Your opinion is wrong.
one from 1974 is the best
Shit it looks shit!!!!!
