wow, thanks! I had asus X550 w/ original HDD and DVD plus never opened the hardware for over five years. now i'm preordering a15 or g15 from amazon/ebay.

Which socket is the CPU soldered in ?
hey I just disassembled my X550 and the screen now is very dim (has no backlight) does anyone have a fix?
Just put my laptop back together and the screen was just solid black but powering on. I only took out the RAM and Hard Drive though, not this full deconstruction. I took them out again and made sure the RAM clicked on both sides properly and one thing I didn't do 1st time when reconnecting the Hard Drive was to tuck the really thin plastic sheet of that back in, just above where the Hard Drive connects. That solved it for me. Hope this helps.

Does it means my gpu and cpu share one fan?

mine the screen stays black. The diagnosis was the motherboard went bad. I just ordered one for $53.00 I am hoping I can replace it myself.

I have a question.. where is placed graphic card in this model? It's NVIDIA GeForce gt720m in my model. Dedicated card. I am asking because i dissasembled All Parts because i have to replace motherboard but i don't know how to find the graphic card....

4gb de memória RAM já vem soldada na motherboard, podendo acrescentar mais uma de 8gb

Hey you know... I have a the same asus and it also don't has ram and if you look there are 4 chips what look like those chips on ram so I think that chips are the ram...

J.Afonso I know! But this asus laptop has soldered 4gigs of ram. Like those little laptops with atoms, they has soldered ram too!

@@xXdawgXx No. It has 2GB soldered and 2GB removable on the removable bit on back of the laptop. You can add up to 8GB to make it up to 10GB total.
how much ram can this laptop take,i know it has 4gb of ram stock, can i add another 4 or even 8? to make it 12gb of ram,or just 8?

Where do you see it says you have a mini SSD? I have the same and I have 2 memory units, I think the smaller one is an SSD but would like to confirm
J.Afonso the sticker on my laptop with the specs. Next to the mouse pad. It says: HDD 750G + 24G (SSD)
So what’s the 24G ssd??
@@fredministryofjesus today I opened the laptop for the first time and unplugged everything and I still don't know where it is also, my guess is that it's somehow welded to the motherboard but I also found a module under the colling fan that I can't find what it does but could be that. Btw your SSD is 240gb it can't be 24

In this model you can buy a DDR3-L module, and insert in the region next to HDD card. There's a slot to Ram

it's a scrawny little piece of shit, for an ASUS. really now, half the ram is already soldered in the motherboard, the processor, you will not be able to change the processor either, cause it's soldered in the fucking motherboard as well. fucking piece of shit, i bought this crap on second hand, with 150 Euro. not happy with it, not a bit.
