So sorry for the loss of your father in law. Sending your family strength and love. Take care of yourself! Thanks always for your podcasts. The buttons are perfect.
Sorry for your loss and condolences to you and your family. We appreciate your weekly updates and how generous you are, sharing your time and knowledge with us, but at times like this, family always comes first. For those who maybe interested, Zoe Fletcher was a guest in Episode 82 of Fruity Knitting. The interview with Zoe is presented over two segments, the first around the 17min mark the other around 57 min mark.
Those buttons!! Good job persevering until you found them🥰 The season of life you are going through with aging parents is so tough, isn’t it? I’m glad you have a spinning project to help with the stress.
So sorry to hear your sad news and really appreciate that you took time to record. Your buttons are a fantastic match. I will really enjoy following up on your tidbits this week.
Thinking of you and your family. May he rest in eternal peace. A brilliant podcast ,off to follow up on the links. Those buttons are perfect, can't wait to see it all together. It is my favorite from the decades project-so far.
My condolence to you and your family on the loss of your father-in law. You are a wonderful talented teacher and I enjoy your videos. Please take care of yourself!
Roxanne, Sending healing, peaceful vibes your way regarding your parents' new home, and your husband's Dad's passing. 🙌🙌🙌 With respect to your podcast, it's so interesting how the fiber community has grown so much, specifically in the US, since I first learned crochet and knitting as a teen in the early '60's and '70's! I will definitely be checking out the site with the wool from the 'vintage/heritage' sheep! Ever since you started your personal breed study I've been fascinated with your results and desire to purchase a kit of my own, though I do not own, nor have ever used, a spinning wheel__my fascination is with drop spindles and indigenous-style spinning and weaving tools, as well as knitting/crochet, weaving, embroidery, huck weaving, sewing, other "home arts". 💖 In this episode I like the way the Finnish yarn spun up, love the color, too! Re: your buttons, I'm of the same mindset, FABULOUS discovery and match! Thanks for always offering great "tid bits" in your Fri. episodes! I think it's pretty cool that you are in close range of Steven B's shop__ are you aware he's included his mother's SERIOUS stash of yarn, and other paraphernalia__from decades ago__for sale(possibly, in it's own section of the shop)?! Unless it's all been sold already. Anyway, hope your weekend goes well. 🙏😇✨💫💖🙌🙌🙌😺
Very sorry for the loss of your father-in- law. The buttons you picked are perfect for your sweater. Another possible source for buttons is Amazing Threads, one of the two yarn stores you mentioned to me. They too have an entire wall of buttons.
Sorry for your loss. I really enjoy following your spinning and your reflections on the Gotland wool. That was the first wool I ever spun and I agree, it is kind of different.
My deepest condolences to you, your husband and family. A death in the family is such a tragic and sad time. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us. God bless
Oh Roxanne, my deepest sympathies for you, your husband and family. Sadly, my dad died last Sunday in the early morning hours. He too had hospice although he was able to stay home with my sister. I have been traveling back and forth to Florida for the past 6 months. I’m grateful I was there with him almost until the end. Please don’t ever think you need to do a video. We are here. I’ve struggled keeping up with videos since he got ill. Thanks for putting this together for us. Thinking of all of you as we prepare to bring my dad up north for his funeral. God bless you all. On a more positive note, I love your buttons! Perfect choice! Your spun yarn is lovely as well. I also thought that wool looked like human hair. I especially love the Icelandic!
Thank you Roxanne. You’re so right. It is not easy. Two years ago it was my mom and now this. Wishing you all the best with your mom and stepfather. And any other loved ones who may be suffering.
We have carpet underlay made from Herdwick fleece. We live in Cumbria ( the UK county which contains the English Lake District) where the Herdwick sheep is the native breed which lives on the fells ( hills/mountains) . The breed was championed by Beatrix Potter who was a recognised breeder in her later life, and would judge Herdwicks at local shows( funded by the proceeds of her famous books) I have knitted a sweater from Herdwick yarn, which my husband has worn regularly for years- needless to say it is very hard wearing! Not a next to the skin garment though😊 I didn’t comment on the green buttons, but am totally in agreement with you discarding them. As you say, the ones you have now chosen are perfect. Sorry to hear of your bereavement- it sounded quite sudden and unexpected which is somehow extra difficult. Best wishes.
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you bring a lot of joy, as well as information into many lives. I appreciate the time you spend on your videos especially in the past 18 months. May you find comfort in your knitting and spinning.
Condolences to you, your husband and your children. Losing parents is such a difficult thing, whether its from death or slipping away slowly from dementia. ( my fil had Alzheimer’s ) And as someone with stage 4 cancer I deal with the extra stresses of the roller coaster of my disease through my love of fiber and knitting - helps me cope- but at my pace. So pace yourself girl. Take one day at a time and always take time to tell those you love how you feel. Thank you for showing your love through sharing your knowledge.
I just love your spinning tee shirt ;-))) My sympathies to your husband and to you for your father in law. I sure hope your mother and her spouse are adapting well to their new residence. Take all the self care time you need, Roxanne, we will be glad to see you on screen whenever your are there, but we totally understand when you need time for yourself or your loved ones. No pressure ! You really found the perfect buttons for your sweater, I admire your perseverance, it paid !
I am sure you know that a lot of us are thinking about you and your family, while we all appreciate your videos we all understand and many of us have been though that stage in our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Your spinning has come along nicely. The yarn looks professionally spun. I loved those buttons. They're nice, different, unusual. Plus that maroon/purple colour really looks nice on you. Thanks again for the video this week, all things considered.
Great button choice! I’m glad you’re happy with them. The triangular button holes and it’s other elements do agree with the sweater. I’m sorry that I did not understand your button search process from the prior button video.
My condolences for your father in law. May you have peace in this time of mourning. I appreciate all you do. Please know that you deserve a break sometimes even when it doesn't involve large amounts of stress.
Sending wishes of comfort for you and your family. The sweater is amazing and you did find the perfect buttons!! The yarn youve spun is wonderful. That fascinated me. 🧶💕🧶. Thanks for taking time to make a video this week. 🤗💖🤗
So glad you are taking the time you need. Condolences to you and your family. Your videos are always so very interesting, I am especially enjoying your experiences with the breed study as I have acquired a few different breed wools at farmer’s markets this summer! It has been fascinating to talk to the breeders about their sheep and then ask for advice for spinning the wool.
I also love vintage buttons and have many that came down through my grandmother and mother. I was born in 1940 so that makes for some quite old buttons. I never feel like I have wasted my time when I get to watch your many excellent videos. Sometimes I forget to press "like" and when I catch myself I do backtrack and perform that small favour. Carry on! Carry on!
It’s Thursday Roxanne! 😂 I love your channel! Would you believe that I’ve been knitting for over 40 years but I have knitted only one sweater! I also didn’t knit my first scarf until 20 years of knitting. If something is too easy, I can’t seem to finish! I love finding out about the different breeds of sheep and other animals with wool.
Those are for sure the perfect buttons for that sweater. I still love the triangles. The striped sweater looked fun too. Hair like fibers are always a bit weird for me to spin lol...but I do like trying all kinds of different ones out. Some of it feels like twine lol.
With respect to the Gotland haloing, try stroking the ends together with your forward hand as you draft. This is the halo like you get with mohair and angora. There you want the halo, but if you don't want it try gently smoothing the ends back into the drafting triangle.
I'm so sorry, your family is going through a lot at once, it's perfectly understandable that you take your time to take care of each other. I hope you get the support you all need. The New buttons are really great: the color matches the yarn, and the triangles!!! 🔺🔺🔺 🧥🧥🧥Made for each other! The socks/booties you plan to knit for your niece in law remind me of your solar system socks, both being knee high, such an interesting coincidence. Finally, not gonna lie, "firehose of negative opinions" made me chuckle 😅
I'm so sorry to hear about your father-in-law, sending love to you and your family at this sad time. Don't worry about us, I'm sure we can wait for videos until things are easier and less hectic, take care xx
Please tell me it is Thursday, or I've missed a whole shift at work! Edit: Family comes first. I respect every time you choose to concentrate on something more important than youtube. Please accept my thoughts for you and your family in this difficult time. I appreciate you sharing this with us as you can.
There's a movie about that ship which was found on a woman's property. The dig was controversial because she entrusted the work to a man who wasn't affiliated with the local museum.
I'm glad to see that I am not the only knitter who spends an inordinate amount of time looking for the perfect button! 😎
So sorry for the loss of your father in law. Sending your family strength and love. Take care of yourself!

@@RoxanneRichardsonMy bad. Two of these ships? Wow. That's a surprise.
@@ShowandTellknitting I think this was not uncommon, particularly for wealthy Vikings. What is special about Oseberg is how well preserved it is.
