Could it have been another celebrity, I myself would have felt much anger, resentment, and abandonment at his words. But I have known Jaebum for so long that those words are not surprising to me. I already knew Jaebum was that kind of child. When Jaebum first came to Korea 4 years ago, he was very rebellious and out of line. He laughed at Korea and belittled his fellow trainees, even going so far as to see me as ‘easy.’ I believe he thought that being a Korean celebrity was something to laugh at. He was a boy that wanted to b-boy in the streets. He fought with company employees, his dance instructors, and made threatening statements. At times, he even said that he did not like JYP Ent., and would name another rival company, wishing to be sent there instead. But what made us surprised even more was that when asked whether he had the guts to succeed, he said, “We could succeed if we don’t receive JYP’s music.” At this point, employees wondered why we were keeping such a rebellious boy. This is why his words four years ago are not suprising. Then why would we keep such a kid? I love rebellious children. Rather than children that are nice up front but are calculating and evil behind my back, I love children that are rebellious up to my face. I loved the fact that he showed his emotions straight up. It gave me hope. Who would have the guts to utter such words to my face? To say that his failure depended on my bad music? I thought that it was funny. I believed that rebellious children had too much energy, just no place to express that energy. Or they never met someone that would trust them enough to show them the correct path. I wanted to help this person go on stage and feel the energy and joy. As long as I could instill within him trust and love. To Jaebum, there are only two types of people. His family, and those that are not his family. He loves his family more than I could ever know. The reason he talks about money in interviews is not to buy nice clothes, it is to pay back his family, who always works hard for him. That’s why he ran the path of becoming a singer. He was rebellious, but he excelled in training. I saw this and thought, if only I could make him think of my company, his fellow trainees, this company as his family. if only. So one day, I told him “Jaebum, someone is not a family only because they share the same blood. Please open your heart to them first. He began to hug his fellow trainees, start conversations with company employees, and began enjoying his time on the stage. He was so sorry. To his 2PM brothers, to me, to his company employees, to his fans.. and to nobody more than to his Koreans. He thought to himself that if he stayed any longer, his brothers would only get more hurt. He told me he did not have the confidence to get up on stage. I knew what he was saying too well to hold him back. If I were him, I would have made the same decision. And so he left. His last email to me said, “I’VE BEEN A LITTLE PUNK IN THE PAST. I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT WAS A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE. IT MADE ME A MUCH BETTER MUCH STRONGER PERSON AND I’M THANKFUL FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME. REAL TALK.” My heart was ripping. It hurt. But knowing what Koreans would feel at his words, an immense sense of betrayal, I could not say anything. But what I can do for him is to tell everyone that he showed on TV is not fake. He might have been rebellious but never fake. He never hid his true emotions. As an international kpop fan you should definitely listen to JYJ The Beginning album. It still hold up really well for an English album that is released 14 years ago. Also Chris Brown help produce “Valentine”, a song from JYJ’s “Just Us” album

They're a little awkward together haha but both are fun & genuine....& cringe hahah Sucks that some of your content is getting blocked. Loved the album, been growing on me too. Jay was sort of welcomed back because not only did he have a lot of celebrities openly supporting him, in the way of inviting him on their shows etc (not to mention one of the biggest fanbases at the time), it was also explained quite clearly that his comments that caused the controversy had been from years back, mistranslated & taken completely out of context. They even had official "professors" from the US on national television explaining it. Then Jay's consistent & genuine mindset shined through. But don't get me wrong, there was still a big struggle he had to fight his way through & not everyone was as forgiving. JYP was also blocking him from a lot for as long as they could. You should def check out his SNL appearances, he was a member of the cast for a few years & part of what made it so popular in SK. The ones with AOMG are the funniest imo. The whole JYP/Jay Park Scandal is probably to this day one of the biggest mysteries in the K-Pop industry as many ppl don’t even know that Jay didn’t even leave because of those MySpace comments. He left on his own terms after discussing it with JYP. Here are the statements that the company and JYP himself have made explaining the whole situation. Have to split this into two comments. JYP Announcement Hello, this is JYP Entertainment. Last September, 2PM’s member Park Jaebum announced his withdraw from the group and returned to Seattle after the shock of his words he wrote on the internet during his trainee time and we will reveal the course of action henceforth. Though those words from the case that occurred last September did not looked good to everyone, because they were his words during his hard trainee days and written on his personal space the company agreed with Park Jaebum’s opinion to take time for self discipline, this does not mean we thought that he would stop all activities in entertainment or forever leave 2pm. At the time the company could have convinced Park Jaebum to stay and promote with as a 7 member 2pm and held back his withdrawal. Though it could be considered that parts of Park Jaebum’s words were exaggeratedly mistranslated bye netizens it was definite that those words could have hurt many people, in that situation if we were to enthusiastically embrace Park Jaebum and promote with the 7 member 2pm this could have made the image of Park Jaebum to the public forever negative and so we agreed with his decision. When a celebrity makes a mistake that disappoints the public and they do not apologize for their own mistakes or if the company embraces that celebrity, there have been many cases before when this further changed the views of the public in the negative direction and therefore we thought it would be good to show his willing withdrawal from the group to have time for self discipline. During that time last year November, the company proposed for a return for Park Jaebum through the album that was released this year in April, and with Park Jaebum’s agreement plans were confirmed that he would return home in the third week of February with a press conference and promotions as a 7 member group would start. Due to the return of kind public views after his withdrawal, and that Park Jaebum’s return to the group would improve all their efforts, and more than anything we could receive the unified support of the fans again the company and all 7 members were expanding their hopes. But, if this new of a comeback were to be revealed too quickly we were afraid that the kind view of the public would once again turn into negative ones even with the roaring voices of criticism from fans we did not reveal anything about this come back. But, last December 22nd Park Jaebum made a startling call with the company head revealing that he committed a big personal mistake. It was a mistake that occurred during last summer’s Again and again promotions that was being was realized in afterthought that caused a problem. Though Park Jaebum could not reveal the information because it was a personal problem, this problem is bigger than even the problem that caused him to withdraw last September, and is a problem that could cause an even bigger public problem.
