At 6:45, what's going on here sound design and mixing wise? That sub is huge but doesn't interfere with the kick at all, and the overall sound of the track is really big and boomy. Getting a sound like this has been my sticking point for years.

@@badforyou7560 Sorry, forgot to reply after all this time. Hope you are still out there! I use Serum for basses, and for sidechain, I use ableton's compressor plugin by taking in audio of a quick kick transient to trigger the sidechain, and then mess around with the Release timing and threshold. It's less than ideal than a volume shaper but it's free.
I'll see what I can learn from your other videos. I don't want to force you to listen to my music but it's on my youtube channel, and you can hear what I mean about my stuff sounding kind of weak and not big. I'm starting to think my drum samples and kicks are just outdated and I've maximized how far I can push them, as well as just me sucking at mixing.
