There was an alternate version that was released in the 1970s on the Old Gold Series of King Records when King became part of Starday Records (later Gusto Records).
Wonderful song always knew of this song by Hank Ballard who has many hits, such as Annie had a Baby, Work with me Annie, I Love your Sexy Ways. I'm sure there's more, but those are a few that I can think of. There is some controversy as to who sang the Twist first. I've heard both versions. But Chubby Checker sang a bit more as well as introduced more dances, like Let's Twist Again, and created other dances, like The Pony, The Fly Hooka Tooka ( my soda cracker) The Popeye. And much more. God bless him I'm sure he is in his 80,s now as Frankie Avalon, Connie Francis and Fabian.
There isn't much of a "controversy" - Ballard WROTE and recorded The Twist. It did not sell well. A year later it was recorded by Ernest Evans (under the name Chubby Checker) and that recording sold over a million copies. Why did Evans change his name to "Chubby Checker?" Because "Fats Domino" was already taken.
@@RetroMusicMan369 - OK, but WHY did Clark give him that name? What was wrong with his real name: Ernest Evans? Why couldn't he have recorded under his real name?
@@genemars5158 You’re not serious, right? Stage names are a new concept to you? Or you’re being facetious. Of course Clark used Fats Domino as his inspiration for the name.
this song have always reminded of waaaaaaay back in the day, going to visit an aunt and uncle on a Sunday afternoon ❤
Another classic from 1960, that I never seem to tire of hearing.
I found this song watching the Sandlot my god is it amazing
@@dje6719 Well, at least a movie used it for a younger generation.

Why do people say there's a rerecorded version? Every version I hear sounds the same to me.
That's what I call Doo Wop music
Trivia note: Hank Ballard was a first cousin of Florence Ballard of the Supremes.
He passed away in 1993
😂😂I think about the sandlot 🤣🤣
Am I crazy or does this song sound a lot like The Twist, the Chubby Checker song?
