I’m with you! The onion soup was one of the most disgusting things I have ever had in my life. Also, my husband didn’t enjoy any of his food. In general, we thought that Triton was very disappointing with substandard cuisine.
We're doing a Merrytime Cruise on the Wonder in December and these dining reviews are starting to make me worry that we've made a mistake in having our parents join us for their first Disney cruise... I hope the food improves. 😬
Yeah, I was quite alarmed when they began using “awful” and “dreadful” after they got back when describing the food…I, like you, are going on a Very Merrytime in early December (this is our first Disney cruise…since the “Big Red Boat”/Premier Cruise Line Disney Cruise days back in the early 90’s!) and I was heavily influenced by Pete’s enthusiasm for the Wonder (also, it doesn’t hurt that it sails out of my hometown of San Diego and I’m a ten minute drive from the port!)…He got VERY mad at me when I mentioned this in a comment a few weeks ago, so I’m guessing it’s a sore spot for him
Kristen, we were on the Wonder to Alaska in July, and were quite impressed with the food; perhaps Pete and his team, hit a bad week for the kitchen? We did just return from a cruise on the Wish, and noted that the food was only ok on it.
Order something else in addition as a back up and report back. You can order anything on the menu. Obviously Diz is using some pre-made institutional products in the galleys to cut back on food expense and labor.
Sounds like perhaps a strategy would be to ask the crew members what they like to eat there. Disney's dining options seem less favorable than other companies based on the creators I watch. Poor Pete and that soup!
I think we were on the sailing after your cruise and the food was very good for us. Triton's was my least favourite restaurant. The decor and theming is very weak compared to Tiana's and Animator's Palate. The menu also didn't do much for me, so totally personal but we didn't look forward to our Triton's night.
I will avoid the soups altogether. The chateaubriand looks bland with the standard potatoes and green beans. I guess the unexciting menu is the reason to spend more at Palo.
We have been watching you for I wanna say over a year as we love sailing with disney cruise line... I have noticed your group is always very negative when it comes to main dining. I don't understand why you continue to go when you are negative and hyper critical?... I mean it's main dining for the masses... it's not a fine dining steakhouse or some 5 star restaurant??
Once again Pete proves that he's neither a foodie, a gourmand, or an expert on beef. The Chateaubriand is a very good cut of meat. It's a front cut beef tenderloin. As far as the French Onion Soup goes, we must remember that Pete is a smoker and his taste buds are compromised. He can't taste flavor like a non-smoker can, and thus his opinions on flavor are suspect.
It’s how it’s prepared and how quick it’s served. If it’s been sitting for a spell it’ll dry out and go south. Plus choice tasted way different than prime. I’m convinced Pete knows good food when he tastes it.

Wow, first world problems yes? I wouldn't go on a Disney cruise for haute cuisine, perhaps Silver Seas could be a better choice. The food looks fantastic and I've read and seen many excellent reviews from people of all backgrounds. We welcome DCL coming to our New Zealand shores in 2023, managed to book before selling out within hours.
Was on the Dream in February of 2022 and the food was outstanding. Was on the Wish in September of 2022 and the food in the main dining was not good at all in all 3 of the restaurants. However the food at the new quick service, buffet and room service was delicious. Hope something changes. 🚢 °o°

I ate at Tritons last night and can attest to the saltiness of the French Onion Soup. But the Potato Leek was amazing! Definitely no blandness there.

Well DCL is a pretty expensive cruise line, it's totally normal to expect the food to be very good.
