Hi Maria. another beautiful piece. watercolour, Milky way, gouache... All my faves. gouache is obviously there to make your white stand out. it's chalky. that's why it works. otherwise it's too transparent. art is a personal preference. so ignore the snobs. beautiful work, yet again. The music is magical, too. x
Hi Julie :) Thank you so much for your nice words, very encouraging, you are totally right, I'm glad you understand. Thanks again! Btw music is by Kevin McLeod, it's free to download, info in my description.
¡Muchas gracias!
I've been in a horrble slump past months, haven't painted in almost 15 years, I just happened to come across this!!! it immediately got me to grab my stuff outta the basement!!! thanks maria, you inspired me to get my stuff together, back to what I love doing!
Maria, I am so very inspired by your work and I thank you so much for these tutorials. I have lived in a horrible abusive marriage for 20 years, I have Complex Post Traumatic Disorder as a result. I am free from it now but living with the emotional damage. I am starting to paint as healing therapy, and your work is very inspiring. My 21 yo daughter is an artist so I'm hoping somewhere in the recesses of my genes is some artistic talent also. Anyhow, thank you again, I'll be studying your tutorials and practicing away.
Hi Stephanie, thank you so much! and I'm so sorry to hear that... I know for sure that you found the best way to relax and a way to get your mind away from everyday life. Painting calms me down as well, it's such a stress reliever. I'm so glad to hear you find painting as your healing therapy. Once you get into it you can barely walk away, all I want to do is paint everyday for hours. When I lost my twin brother two years ago, that's when I really started painting. It's incredible what painting can do to your mind, it helped me to get through the hardest time of my life. It's interesting tho, now when I look at my paintings from that period of time, I can read the emotions coming through. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Maria... Your videos are very special and they are absolutely amazing... Thank you very much for sharing them with us... They take me to a beautiful world... You are truly gifted 💫🙂
Another beautiful painting. The highlights you put on the trees really adds a lot of interest. I also like the music on your videos. Some other videos have monotonous music and I have to turn the volume way down.
Thank you Terry! I usually use Kevin McLeod's music and I'm finally able to use more of his pieces, so I'm trying to add newer pieces with my next videos.
I've watched 3 of your paintings now and I really like them. I really appreciate that you use the black and white colors. I've been brushing up (haha) on some watercolor knowledge and heard a few times now that white and black don't work or are pointless in water paints. Well, I guess now I'll freely disagree. I wanted to also say that towards the end when you removed the paper towel and the message "Thanks for watching" was there was really cool lol. Cheers and God Bless!
Hi Lehua, I really appreciate your nice comment and the point you made about using black or white in watercolor. I think it's all about creating your own style so as long as your paint requires water, it's all watercolor. In traditional watercolor painting you use your white paper as medium but then you can't create night scenes that are rich in colors because you can't freely paint the sky and not to mention you can't create stars without white. Thanks again for watching all those videos and glad you liked the ending :)
Thank you Ed. I didn't have any interest in painting when I was a child. I tried when I was 20 with pencils but didn't like it at all😆then years later randomly in 2012/2013 picked up watercolor and felt in love with the medium☺️
Another beautiful painting. I can't stop watching your videos; I'm mesmerized by them. I especially love your night sky works. Could you do a night time thunderstorm with lightening at some point? Thank you for sharing.
Hi Cathy :) sure! I will try to do the thunderstorm w/lightening in one of my next painting videos. Thank you so much! With night scenery, it's all about putting together the right colors.
Just loved this. The music was so lovely too and relaxing. Would have almost put me to sleep but the tutorial was so enthralling! Thanks for posting. 😆
This is a really tough thing to do, but you make this seem effortless! It is really incredible! Please make more videos like this. I support you. Fighting!💜💜💜
Dear God, thank you so much for giving us Maria and for allowing her to share her INCREDIBLE talent with so many people! :-) I am thrilled that you've done some night scenes, as I hope to do a nighttime painting someday (when I can stop making so many blobs and finally learn to paint instead :P You're the first watercolor artist I've found who does nighttime, so yay, super glad to learn from THE BEST. :D 💖💖💖
WOW another incredible piece, I am constantly amazed by your work, the details are truly masterful, keep up the exceptional work you are truly an inspiration. 👍🏽
I am in love with your paintings Maria..just cant get over them. I am an aspiring artist..want to paint wonderful paintings like you 😊😊 Just wanted to have some information, what colors (name of the brand and type of colors) and paper type you generally use for these amazing paintings?

very enjoyable viewing , like the techniques and as others have said I see no problem with gouache being used , I've used acrylic and oil with watercolour , does that make me a bad boy
So beautiful and peaceful painting. I have Holbein Titanium white, which I know that it's opaque, can I use it instead of white gouache? And what is the different between two type? Thanks a lot :)

Hi May, I don't remember exactly cuz I uploaded it couple months ago, I think 1.30min but all the paintings take me between 1-2hrs depending on how complicated they are.

Thanks Ana :) yes that's true.. But in my videos.. Wherever you see white or I say white.. You know it's white gouache.

Very illuminating painting!! Really like it!may I ask what are the watercolor paper and pigment you use for this beautiful piece?
Thank you so much :) please email me at maria@loveoriginals.com for info on paints and brushes etc
So beautiful and peaceful painting. I have Holbein Titanium white, which I know that it's opaque, can I use it instead of white gouache? And what is the different between two type? Thanks a lot :)
Hi Isa, thank you so much :) if your Titanium White by Holbein is opaque then you can definitely paint with that one :) I use Gouache which is an opaque watercolor (right now I paint with gouache by Holbein as well) Before that I was using Designer's gouache by WN, which is also an opaque watercolor, I know...confusing ;)
Thank you for replying Maria :D. Yeah, I was very confused. I'll use my Titanium White, but I'll also try gouache if I have a chance :))
Awesome :)) The way I started painting with gouache was I never liked WN white watercolor "chinese white" (that's what I first had) because it's too transparent and very grayish so one day I went to an art store and looked for a different brand, I saw Utrecht and thought it was a regular watercolor but bought Designers Gouache Permanent White color by Utrecht, went home started painting with it and was like... hmmm it's so creamy and milky like lol I kept painting and then loved it more with every stroke, I looked it up and was like... wait a second this isn't regular watercolor haha it's opaque watercolor called designer's gouache or just gouache ;) then I was so motivated to experiment with it more and started painting all these night scenes etc.
That's how you discovered your style :)). Thank you so much, it helped me a lot. Even in the way of finding my style and characteristics of some watercolors :D
yes that's exactly how it happened haha thank you Isa :) and wishing you all the best on your watercolor journey
I can't stop watching your beautiful paintings! Can I ask you, what kind of paper do you use? Thanks!
Hi Corte :) Thank you so much! That's really awesome :)! I mostly use watercolor paper hot pressed 140lb 100% cotton, thank you !
Thanks for answering! :D
Thank you for the demonstration! I think I even learned something that will make my road to "not the worst painter in the world" less rocky =P
I don't have gouache or acrylic white, so it's interesting to see how I manage to get around the stars and stuff. Acrylic white seems to be the most common way to make the stars according to the 50 videos I've seen, actually it's the only way I've seen so far. But I'd rather at least try with basic watercolor white before rushing to the shop.
It's weird while I'm really bad at drawing (seriously 6 graders are generally better than me) but for some reason I'm a lot better with watercolors. I guess it might be because I don't have to care about the lines being so strictly straight and it will still look decent.
Thanks again and nice work!
Hi! Good luck with your painting! and thank you for your comment. Please keep in mind that if you are just painting stars then regular watercolor white is fine too! Thank you!
It's so amzing. The color makes me motivated💕 can I ask u some question?
Where r u bought the canvas? I love the texture of picture
thank you so much🌸☺️🤗🌹and this is watercolor paper - hot pressed, not canvas🌸
i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it
Thank you :) Glad you like it!
Will regular white water colour have the same affect as gouache ? new to watercolour, your work is beautiful
Hi Patricia, the designer's gouache and regular watercolor (lets say chinese white) are both watercolors, the only difference is that chinese white is transparent where designer's gouache (color I used - permanent white) is an opaque watercolor. They are different because designers gouache is creamy milky like - opaque and that's how I am able to get this effect. It would be harder to achieve this with regular transparent watercolor. why are people complaining about it?
Maria Raczynska
Kyomii but people always ask about mediums. thats why she state it in the video instead of replying to many comments

Thank you and greets from Oman.
A country of big land with small population like 4 millions. Have a great day.
wow Oman :) That's amazing! Thank you so much for watching Safak!
what kind of paper did you use? it seems pretty intact even if you kept brushing and adding waters and colors...
Hi Suzanne, I use Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper, 100% cotton, 140lb, thank you.
Great work! Inspiring! Im still a beginner. Can I copy your work for practice purposes?
Hi Daly, Thank you and sure, enjoy :)
i love it
Thank you :)
świetne!
dziekuje🤗
this is stunning oh my gosh,, also how long have you been using watercolors and gouache? your watercolor work is amazing!!
sorry just another question, do you prefer cold press or warm press more for using watercolors?
Hi Bridget! Thank you :) I started adding white gouache to my watercolor just about 3 years ago and I loved it since.
I prefer hot pressed, but it really depends on what I'm painting. If I need my background to be real smooth where I'll be adding a lot of white gouache then I'm going to use hot pressed, if the painting is more just watercolor, no white gouache.. I will use cold pressed, the more bumpy paper :)
Maria Raczynska ok thank you so much!!
Your very welcome Bridget!
People who whine about gouache should get a life. Back in the day, JMW Turner used it. More recently, Stephen Quiller does a lot of opaque over transparent.
lol Stephen, this made me laugh :)...I so agree... art is art, and who cares if you use transparent or opaque watercolor, it's still watercolor ;)
maria can i ask a question
where can i find a angular brush?with the same size of the angular brush you are using
Hi :) please click on this link www.mariamorjane.com/my-art-supplies this is my website and it will take you directly to a page where I share all my supplies, when you see highlighted words like Angular Brush and number of a brush "3/4" click on it, it will take you to amazon site where you can see it and buy it if you wish or google it to find the best price. thank you!
How do you stop the paper from getting bumpy? Also how do you get it to stay flat?
Hi Jayde, in this video I was just placing my watercolor paper on a another thicker paper. So there was a suction from water/paint created between the papers and the paper never buckled. Now I place my watercolor paper on a glass and I love it. Thank you.
Do you paint from an image or just something in your head?
Hi Kerry, this one was straight out of my head but a lot of times I paint from images, directly from it or I put few pictures together. Thank you
I don't have white gouache:( can I use normal white water colour?
Hi, yes you can, try to use the whitest white you have because white gouache is an opaque watercolor - very creamy white
can i know what kind of paper do you use ? because i tried it but pepper is teared T.T and another question, after few month doesn't it color is little bit fade way ?
Hi, I use Hot pressed watercolor paper, 100% organic, 140lb. To preserve the watercolor so it doesn't fade away I use wax, please take a lot at my video about how to preserve your watercolor paintings ua-cam.com/video/oDy7Nzg2rQo/v-deo.html
can i use acrylic?
Yes you can :)
Can u once for wet on wet demonstration plz
Hi, I have over 300 watercolor videos on my channel ua-cam.com/users/mariamorjane there's a lot wet on wet. Thank you :)
How much time did this took you to finish? :-)
Hi May, I don't remember exactly cuz I uploaded it couple months ago, I think 1.30min but all the paintings take me between 1-2hrs depending on how complicated they are.
used what kind of paper?
I used hot press 100% cotton 140lb watercolor paper. Thank you.
can you paint a bookmark :DDDDDD IT WOULD BE SO BEAUTIFUL
Sure :) I will put it on my " request list"
Are you using thick paper??? or something???
Hi, this is a watercolor paper, 140lb, 100% cotton, HOT PRESSED. Thanks!
