Bangladesh has nearly 400 units of sweater-making garments where some 20 to 25 factories are engaged in the large-scale export of sweaters. Sweater exports climbed 39.25 per cent year-on-year to $5.64 billion in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 which was $4.05 billion in 2020-21, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau compiled by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
The sweater export earnings represented 13.23 per cent of the total garment export value of $42.61 billion in 2021-22.
