wow thats hard.. both are great bits of kit... I thing for me it boils down to size and use.. flex are great proprietary system with remote ops that are second to none.. the sun sdr is small and a great proformer with great software, remote is not so easy tho and digimodes still need VAC etc..
That was great video. I'm buying an SDR next week. I've read many discussions about how the Anan and the Flex 6600 compare. The things I've read about the Anan that turn me off (sorta) was that the Flex had an integrated CPU that did most of the process in and the Anan didn't . Now I've read that the Anan 700 and 8000 DLE mark 2 indeed has an integrated i7 cpu. In your opinion does that fill in the gap of previous iterations of the Apache transceivers? I'm trying to get a feel for what Apache had in the past compared to the transceivers with the I7 cpus?
For some unknown reason youtube has just thrown this comment up 7 months late.. sorry lol An SDR with a PC in it is not the best combo, potential noise, heat and above all premature outdating.. I would alway choose an SDR without a PC built in.. the anan has a NUC board and it is very very fast reliable and stable.. but I would get the version without it built in simply because its easier to upgrade etc.. software is changing, check out the Expert SDR PRO DX and the version 3 of their software... :-)
@@TheGazLab Thanks for the reply. I did purchase the Anan 7000DLE MkII without the integrated PC or CPU. Yes potential noise was one reason. Another was the hassle of Microsoft updates. It's already bad enough with an external PC I couldn't imagine the implications of the future issues of having the PC inside the radio. I've been very happy with my buy. It's an outstanding SDR platform with solid performance. Yes, I've had a couple issues with Microsoft Windows Updates. Thank you for the reply and thank you for the review! 73!
@@rubennb4r256 well you can stop the updates for a while I'm told there is a version you can shut off completely.. I'm looking forward to open gl being dropped and the multi platform softwares beil developed so perhaps Linux would work..
any thoughts on the two versions of this Gaz, specifically the version without the integrated i7? Being a IT chap, with fairly powerful PC(s) at home, I am tempted to ignore the version with the integrated i7. I do like to fiddle about and experiment and have been looking at the flex6600 and the anan 7000dle mk2, still undecided. Also very tempted to box up an unused KX3 with all the bells/whistles and an very underused Acom1500HF+6, slap it all in the car and drive over to see you guys 😊
It wasn’t a review I’m certainly not qualified for that, as for pure signal You are the first to mention it in over a year I’m certain it’s low on most peoples priorities.. have a good day Barby .. Gaz
the radio I had here had a pc built in.. but the PC realy doesn't need to be that fantastic.. but probably needs to be able to cope with directx 12 or late opengl .. Gaz
The anan I had here comes with windows installed, you could load Linux and a compatible software but I just don’t see the point as power sdr is very good and has amazing noise reduction etc..
I believe you are referring to power sdr, it is dated and fallen a long way behind the likes of eesdr and flex I’m sorry to say. I cannot code so for me fix it is impossible (like 99% of the users) there are some great skins around now and there’s one amazing guy who is still doing power sdr for flex 1500’s etc. He has done wonderful things with it, it needs something like that to happen for Anan.. again have a great day, Gaz
This is why I hate these reviews, why can’t the reviewer ever tune a signal in on frequency where it’s supposed to be! You can’t really tell what the true audio sounds like, NB reduction makes it sound that much worse. That’s one reason I wouldn’t buy this, no one ever will give you a true signal to listen to.
I recently got the 7000 DLE mk 2 using a stand alone pc, it's the best radio I ever had. Wait time 3 months but well worth the wait. 73's
The NR does reduce the noise level, but based on this video, it also seems to considerably reduce the audio quality of the incoming signal.
It does depend on the situation, with care you can get amazing results.. Far better than most in skilled hands.. Gaz
Do you need two antennas for phasing noise function or is it possible to use only the main one ??
Can you show the Panascope?
Great video - thanks for positing . How would you compare this to the Flex and the Sun ?

Great video Gaz! I am thinking about buying the version without the built in PC.How easy is it to set up Ham Radio Deluxe and N1MM+?
Fairly easy, you will need virtual audio cables etc (if I recall)
I'd love to see a CW, QSK demo with the MKII
Cw is not me I’m afraid, :-( Gaz
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

How do I run this without Windows? In other words, Linux Only.

If you don't like the look and feel than fix it yourself! It is open source after all.
