    Hey coach, just saw your video about cheap vs expensive footballs. Is the Wilson gst leather or nike vapor elite better

      gst by a mile. Gst is what’s used in most high schools

      I would say Wilson GST, that’s my preference. But I would get whatever your high school team uses

    Hey coach, at the end of my throws I stumble forward because all of my weight goes to my front legs toes. So how would I fix that? Am I rotating my hips to much or just not taking a long enough step? Because when I rotate my hips my throwing arm at the end is facing the target.

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  7 місяців тому +1

      You are most likely knees over your toes in your stance. Try to keep your knees even with your shins and have your shins be perpendicularly to the ground. Helps you rotate through more balance. Don’t think “bend the knees” think “sit your butt down”

    What’s your thoughts on flatlining the extension if there is heavy discipline to crunch the free arm while the throwing arm crosses over keeping the free hand near the collarbone or in the sandwich posture?

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  7 місяців тому +2

      Totally fine, as long as there is extension I’m okay with the arm falling wherever. Thank you for asking!

    How would you get offers when you have no receivers and your team relies on you running

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  6 місяців тому

      Gotta make plays honestly- if you’re running the ball a lot that’s totally fine. Obviously we want to pass as much as we can, but colleges will know if your team isn’t the greatest. Just focus on making plays

    Thanks coach I used to play qb now wr I may go back to qb next season and do you know that catch and ball baseball thing I use it to help throwing or something like that and how many reps a day should i do

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  6 місяців тому

      I would say anywhere from 50-75 reps per day. Idk what you’re referring to exactly but anytime you use it that’s how many reps I would try to get in

    Hello I’ve always wanted to pick up being a quarterback I can throw 40 yards from little to no, practice I am big for age 16 5’11 185, I’ve been looking at your tips and just been mimicking the throw motions but I know it’s a lot to ask for but, let’s say I’ve never played qb in a real game and next year I want to try out for qb next year varsity and I want to get offer considering I start and play the 2 years I have left, can you give me a goal and tell me how possible what I want, also I’ll add something about my play style I am fast I’m big not fat just like lean so id like to be a duel threat type of player but more of a passer I want to be , I’m good at throwing on the run good for someone who hadn’t been throwing long I’d like to hear how realistic my goals are from you if I really train all the time I have till next season starts I really feel as I can do this but I’d like to hear what you think of this.

    • @frogo12344
      @frogo12344 7 місяців тому

      To add a big problem for me is velocity like I see how people throw so hard I can make it spin good but when I put to much power it wobbles

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  7 місяців тому

      Yeah definitely man, I think you just have to stay consistent and keep working! Goals are definitely realistic but you have to keep working

      Honestly, he’s unproven- but if I was designing a QB the way I’d want them to throw- I would say Anthony Richardson. That dude is so mechanically sound. Jimmy G is good too, I just don’t think he’s as explosive and twitchy as Richardson

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  7 місяців тому +1

      Takes reps. Wouldn’t be concerned with time, would be concerned with reps. It takes anywhere from 1,000-2,000 perfect reps in a row to break a bad habit. That doesn’t mean you have to throw, just doing simple mechanics drills can also help with that
