Gas masks are something i cant recognise for shit. I aparently have some rare pre WW2 prototype gas masks that i also bought on the flee market for 15 euro total so
What was annoying for me was that I bought a ShM-41 gas mask only to find it was a SzM-41 as the darker paint and sybols on the mask was an indercator to this they are almost the same lol
@Robert_CBRN If the GP-5 was build before 1988 (print on the filter) there is the chance of 60-90% that it contains asbestos. After 88 the production with asbestos stoped and they used other materials. But this dosn´t mean that the filter is safe. You can´t say if the filter is used or not, and it can get leaky after that long time. AND! Gasmask are actually inefective against viruses, the coal doesn´t protect from from viruses only the wool/asbestos then there is the question: if tho coal doesn´t work why should you take a gas mask? Anyways nice video, the most profecional video i found in the Internet, the "GP-5" is the most interesting gasmask/kit, i think. Thank you for the video. PS: my English is not so good xD.
is it viable to add a filter cut out of a cheek filter piece on the intake valve so that the asbestos will be stopped? Is the filter still usable from radiological, chemical and biological that way?

Well it depends how you see it, the correct way is that there are plenty of SHM varriants and copies, "gp5" is just one of the varriants
