Hello, I have a Technics KN5000 keyboard and it is equipped with a built-in Floppy Disk 1.44 MB, here you can save the settings of 7 music tracks, then the diskette is full, now you can mount a Floppy Drive Emulator but how many settings of music tracks can you then save on the USB stick, given that you can only format a Floppy in the KN5000 keyboard 1.44 MB.
You can save the same number of music tracks on the Emulator USB stick too, but one USB flash drive has 100 floppy disk banks. Each bank is 1.44MB so you have the advantage of pressing the +1 button and you will have another bank of 1.44MB image. It is the same as switching the floppy disk, but you are doing it by pressing a button. I highly recommend watching this video ua-cam.com/video/6sldK7i5s6M/v-deo.htmlsi=mm2rL2MLUwtko8EP
Hi, You have to mount the specific one, or else it will not read. These emulators rage from $15 to $300 and the only difference is the firmware, and other customization such as OLED, encoder etc.
You need to make sure the Jumper settings on the Emulator matches the ones on the Mitsubishi Floppy drive. Also use the Windows App to format the flash drive to 100 banks at 1.44MB each Bank.

It has to match the exact settings of the old floppy which was removed from the keyboard. There are 3 possibilities that you can set it to, and they are Master, Slave, and Cable Select. Most likely you need it to be set at Master. The manual of the Emulator should tell you which position is Master, and it should also be printed on the PC board next to the jumper pins. Thank you
Yes, but if you want us to do it for you, we can do that at no additional cost. Also on some KN5000 by default you don't have to do this, our stock emulators work just fine. That is why we don't do it by default.
That depends what type and version of firmware is installed on the SFR1M44-SUE. If it has the factory original firmware it may work for some keyboards not all. Specially if the original floppy drive was Mitsumi or Y-Data you will have a hard time with it.
Hi, The old Technics SX-PR 250 had three different types of floppy drives, and each one had a different configuration. Some of these configurations were controlling the drive jumper settings through the Floppy Drive Firmware and there was no physical jumpers on the drive. So in order to know which floppy drive emulator is right for you I need to know which model floppy drive your Technics originally came with.
@@asterix3542 Based on the manual this is a proprietary drive which has a 26pin controller board behind the 34pin drive. So it will only work if you take the controller board out and attach it to the new Emulator. See manual technicskeyboards.com/files/4114/1913/5359/sy-fd20_service_manual.pdf

From my personal research it should be connected to Ground. The reason is that I took apart the original floppy disk that came with the KN5000 and traced down the wiring and all the lever switches to see what triggers the alert about floppy disks presence.
