They were far from being the "best" parents considering that Minato chose to die and ruin Naruto's chance at a happy life just because he couldn't live without Kushina. Kushina could have just sealed Kurama back inside of her whenever she wanted during this conversation and that would have been the end of it.

As someone who grew up watching the original Naruto with no way of watching Shippuden, this was heartbreaking. I always did wonder who Naruto’s parents were as a kid. So imagine me, someone watching Naruto as a kid for years, witnessing the story behind Naruto and Kurama as a teenager, finally getting the answers he always wanted. This utterly destroyed me, it made me sad that Naruto had to grow up without parents, but made me happy that he had his closest friends, it also made me grateful for my own parents. I love them with all my heart.
Also once I finished this chapter, I was so broken that I stopped playing it for about 8 months.
