So awesome to see this! I spent a happy week of work experience (well, mainly observation!) in the Pres & Proms department in 1993, and spent every moment fascinated. I have to confess that I was given a VHS tape containing the pres kit (a comprehensive sample of the idents and stings) for 1993 on condition that I not share it... but it did eventually find its way to TV-Ark, and thence (in an unauthorised way) to UA-cam, long after Central as a brand had sadly disappeared, of course...
Thanks for sharing your memories of Central! If the 1993 Pres Kit VHS which you mention also includes 1994 Pres Kit (running over 23 minutes in total) it must be the same as the one I uploaded at the following link ua-cam.com/video/PluIDvoaNXs/v-deo.html
Blows my mind seeing the full "studio" (cupboard) at 2:42 of the CITV era I hold so fondly. Always surreal to peak behind the curtain and shatter the image you have in your mind of what it might look like! I presume it was a traditional continuity presentation booth originally? Thanks for the upload anyway!
Thanks for viewing. The studio where you see Tommy Boyd at 2:42 was previously used by in-vision continuity announcers. When they went out-of-vision, they were moved to the tiny booth which you can see at 0:50. Following the studio move to Gas Street, the (still out-of-vision) continuity announcers were situated in a slightly larger booth which you can see briefly in my handover from Central to Carlton clip on UA-cam at ua-cam.com/video/3yVIolUU7ew/v-deo.html
@@terrypearson7787 when CITV was out of vision from the 15th of February 1993 , I guess Central TV got rid of the CITV set. and i don't think Steve Ryde use that booth where the central tv announcers used because of central's on air branding appearing right after CITV going off air
Wesley Smith gave me this clip to me on a red DVD disc which is damage sadly when i met him at Central News South in Abingdon back in 2006 before ITV Central got rid of Central South. Central News South air this behind the scenes clip of Central ITV's Presentation as part of the Behind the Globe series , Their was a another behind the scenes look at Central TV 's presentation in December 1997 at Gas Street which Wesley Smith did for Central News South aswell , But thanks for sharing this clip as i have not had this clip for almost 20 years, shame that Ted May did not get interview by Wesley Smith , I bet he was too shy lol
@@terrypearson7787 It's ok I don't know if you were announcing on that day , but i did not live in the Central ITV region at the time and i was only 6 years old at the time this went out. The only voice i know at that point was Ted May when he did Teacher's note's annoucncments on Channel 4 and S4C
@@terrypearson7787 Ted May was leading the pack at the time and he very well know at Central i bet he was lucky that he was not mob by woman in the street😀

@@gavinmartin5151 Aaaah! Yes - Ted May was (and probably still is) an excellent announcer!

Pity they didn't show the control room where the commercials up until 1993 were inserted into Channel 4 in the midlands.@@terrypearson7787
Why is this reuploaded?
Hello, James! The first version was slightly clipped at the start - I managed to correct that fault and re-uploaded it for that reason! Well spotted!
