I am learning so much from your videos, current ones, and when I binge on your older ones. I am 84 and am selling my life! Mostly on eBay and Etsy: I have 8 decades of antique, vintage collections, crafts tools and supplies, vintage dancing costuming, collectibles, fabrics, linens, on and on. I source from my attic and figure I have thousands of items to list. I will sell it all or die, whichever comes first, lol.
thats so nice! He makes his money off the viewers here while he cuts other resellers throats giving every inside tip we had to learn away. Im sure he appreciates the sub!!
First I am so happy for you Constance. I hope everything works out great for you and you have many more years to enjoy selling your items and enjoy the wonderful gift of life we have. Now @sfarmertoo my attention turns to you. Maybe, just maybe, Kevin is helping others like Constance to be able to achieve a goal they have decided to set for themselves. Also Kevin might just be finding a way to make a living for him and his family just like you do in his own perfectly legal and morally right way. Oh yeah it seems to me as well and I may be wrong but all things point otherwise that Kevin is maybe more successful than you and instead of making yourself better by learning and trying new things and evolving with the world you instead put a hateful comment on a display of gratitude from an elderly person that you should have more respect towards. Hate does nothing for you. You have all the same rights as Kevin to be able to do all the same things. Go do good for yourself and others and be the best you can. Learning respect is a great start. Ive said my peace. That comment broke a moral code for me. My apologies to Constance and Kevin.

I retired from full-time work and was going to get a part-time job, but am having a number of medical issues. Hoping for a more flexible job, I tried the reselling gig and really enjoy it. I’ve learned so much watching videos from different resellers to get a balanced diet of ideas. Ultimately it’s up to each individual how their business is done. I’ve intentionally disregarded some basic advice because it’s MY business, it’s MY decision. I don’t waste time telling others what they’re doing wrong.
You are 100% correct that is exactly exactly how we run our eBay full-time. I’m always buying collections looking for collections. Everything from toy collections to whatever I can turn over into cash.. I avoided that middle man many years ago and just eliminated him for the most. We were able to build up a big enough bank to where we were able to go into the estates into these companies and buy them out . We were never able to do that and now we have that power to point . And that’s why we’re over to shop Commons. But you were dead on 1000% what you said about how you would have to source if you weren’t in the place where you are now. It’s still fun. We’re still meeting people and finding cool things. But it’s definitely a lot of different sourcing. This is what I do for survival
I been watching you for quite awhile. I have learned alot from you. I like that you sell all kinds of different stuff. I just recently started selling on ebay. Not doing too bad for just beginning. Thanks for your videos.
You are so patient with the reactive people who don't bother to do the research and find out what your channel is all about. But, at least you got an honest, open dialogue out of it. I look at the way my own reselling has changed over the years and I can't imagine thinking there's only one way to be a reseller. You definitely have the right temperament for social media success and that's an important point too... not everyone can be "your kind of reseller" ;)
thumbs up for your comment Shalyndria....I have always said many of the same points Kevin raises lately, but I don't get the same pushback he gets...I don't know if it's the majority lean of his viewer base or because he is a man, but wow!?! 😏and I think he handles it with some fortitude
I was going through this issue years ago, lightbulb went off, decided to be the auctioneer at the sale so I could try to get 10% to 20 % on the entire sale instead of fighting the crowd for the good stuff.
I love your shows because I just pick yard sales and then list on ebay! It’s very small scale but it’s just a little extra income and fun Saturday seeing what I can get to flip!
Saw someone spend 2k this past weekend on a buyout on old stuff. The dude lost his wallet especially having to spend a ton at the dump because of the weight. The last text I got was I lost my rear and spent my whole Saturday loading boxes in the heat. I told him lesson learn when bidding on these things online with small amount of pictures 😂....
I'm just getting back into reselling. I had a honey hole thrift store down the street. Went there the other day & the owner has done lost her mind with her prices!!! I walked out with nothing 😂
We have started cleaning out houses but lots of treasures if you don’t get overwhelmed. We are lucky enough to have a small farm so have a Dumpster, donate some and sell the rest!
I am the part time treasure hunter with a full time job you mentioned. I am hoping to pay off my house in the next few years and then move to reselling fulltime. I am building my model on one thing i am passionate about and then trying to also learn all the bolos from watching YT videos. I have been getting better at finding bulk deals lately and many are estate based where people are posting straight to fbm as part of the sale. I find that watching fbm like a hawk still works well for me although i am trying to build relationships where i can. I have thought about becoming a clean-out guy for a real estate company down the road as i enjoy physical labor and have a truck and trailer. Also always been interested in the storage unit thing.
Hey Kevin, great video man! Had the same thing on a sale yesterday, bought as a gift, don't include invoice and asked me to not use Ebay tape on the box. That's a first for me. Take Care
Kevin, I would love to go to estate sales like you have in the east. I have never heard of an open-house type estate sale, where you just walk into somebody's house and buy things like that-like a big garage sale. It's obviously an East Coast thing because I live in Missouri, I'm 65 and when I go to or think of an "estate sale", it's an AUCTION, NOT an open house, indoor garage sale type of sale. Sure would love to do it your way once in awhile! It would be awesome to go to an open house sale.
Currently an everything seller... I am a small part time seller, but been looking to get into 2 or 3 different niches, and selling off the rest, just to focus on really capitalizing on the things I am passionate about.
Many large resellers (on youtube) have reduced presence on ebay - fewer listings, more focus on whatnot, etc. Taylor, Dixon, Clothes etc have 50% less listings ... this is canary in coalmine for all of us ... they are the smart money, have said volume model is DEAD and they are NOT focusing on ebay as much. We need to be read the tea leaves ... sourcing is harder, usps is up, ebay adds/reduces margins ...
I used to resell at our flea market close to the bridge that goes to Mexico and on Fridays we called dealer day where almost everyone was from Mexico that came to buy, so you could bundle things up and Saturday was for people just out looking for certain things 😊😊
I sell vinyl records at local shows / world widemailorder on Discogs in North Carolina and make 25k-30k extra a year, not my primary job but its fun....will probably do it in retirement as well
I'm back to hobby buying at tag sales. It's just as well, given how horrible it was all Spring, Summer and now Fall. A toy reseller I know said the same thing. In my area rent is pushing $2000/month for a one-bedroom, so even full-time resellers using every trick Kevin mentions can't make a primary income out of it. The reasons are a combination of inflation from heck and the Smartphone Effect. (everyone researches what they have and want full retail for it or close.) Estate sales here are few and far between too; they've gone on line and the prices are jacked up. The ones that are left are often not worth the time. Thrift store prices aren't thifty any more. A niche reseller here has to broaden out or get out. Those who have medical limitations (hand raised) may not be able to do what it takes. I was a jewelry seller who sold just about anything I could lift, but was forced out of the game unless I wanted to lose my medical coverage among other problems.
make a living does not hinge on how much you make it is a combination of your overhead versus your intake..so I can make a really good living whereas some people need more. If you have a need for high extraction rate because of high overhead then you probably will have a much harder time making a living.
Full time and I do a hybrid of what you suggested. I have a store that sells mostly Hockey cards and store that sells everything else. I buy out distressed businesses and look for auction lots. I buy collections for my card store and usually avoid singles and small lots. Selling since 2000.
I'm an everything seller, but keeping an eye out for big buys. I suspect if I find one, that could be the impetus to turn me into a specialist store. Not sure if I'd find that dull or exciting. Guess it's a moot point for now. 🙂
I know a couple that own a vintage store , and get lots of their products from doing house clean outs , and she said they have no competition cleaning out houses.
Based on the title of my channel, media is my niche. Mainly CDs, DVDs, VHS and audio cassette tapes. I'd do vinyl but can't find it cheap enough to flip. The reason I do this is for my personal love for music in the physical format. I have a personal collection of approximately 5000 CDs and 800 DVDs. They're easy to buy, list and ship. They don't take up too much room either and there is some big money this, if you know what to look for.
I can only buy online as I'm from Portugal and I must say it is not easy at all. I sell mostly vintage Barbie and greeting postcards(it is also what I know most of - been selling on those for 4+ years), but finding Barbies online at a price I can sell on Ebay is extremely difficult. Many, many collectors looking for Barbies, plus expenses to import and VAT, make it a very, very hard task. Still, I can find some stuff online, but I find it is often not enough to just live on it. Greeting postcards, unfortunately is a low sell-through category and seasonal to some degree. So, I'm kind a mix of "master of a few trades/niches" and now branching out to a few other niches. Summer is the hardest to source online, which led me to that decision of branching out to other niches.
I’m going to be putting a lot of Barbie’s 200-250 older and the 90’s and 2 RV’s and airplane etc on eBay soon as an auction. Great stuff can make you some big $$$
Having a niche for some is absolutely great but I feel like in this day for myself it's necessary to be able to change with demand. I don't have it down to a science but I have branched out. I used to sell in a niche market and got left behind. Had ro change my way of thinking and selling. Great subject tho!
I buy more collectibles while out searching than I sell. My main platform is toy and comic shows, but that is too slow. Ebay is ok just not good for low value items. I finally am starting a antique mall location to hopefully move more volume. I hope to get more on ebay as I clear out some of the lower value items. I need a system in place like you do.
After 20 years of conducting estate liquidations, it’s all about relationships. I look at tons of estates every month and pick maybe 2 or 3 to liquidate. The rest get referred to people who buy/sell certain subject matter and have been great, polite customers I’ve been doing biz with for years. If you want to be first to the fresh estates of whatever you sell or collect - get to know the right people and always deal honest with them.
It is really difficult to find consistent sources. If you do find one, they only last for a short time. I had a hoarder guy, but exhausted that source within a year, same for the storage guy. I don't have any now, but I'm trying.
Since 90% of what I sell are items that come from family members estates, stuff no one else wants and the rest of the other items are Items have accumulated over the years. I consider myself a part-Time everything seller. Because I know nothing about the items I sell I spend 3-4 hours a day researching, and listing and only ship 3-4 items a week. Nov 8 will be 1 year and already crossed the 12K total sales mark since Jan 1 .... I accepted a lot of best offers.
I have been reselling for a decade. I have done over 6 figures in sales on ebay for the last 6 years. I sell anything and everything. I know niche sellers that do very well. Most importantly I have seen people make 1 buy that changed their life. One guy spent 100k on nos fishing lures from someone who died. He has done over 3.3 million in sales on ebay in the last 7 years selling those baits. Another guy bought an entire warehouse full of NOS OEM car parts from the 60s and 70s. He spent 60k and no telling how much he has made but I'm sure it's a fortune. I like being ready for whatever opportunity presents itself.
I only go to primarily 2 thrift shops, work only a few hours per week, and just make extra income, usually about $800-$1000 per month, and sell anything for a profit.
First off, my condolences on your loss. Watching the video had me in tears. I'm an everything seller that would like to find that niche down, but as you, I love a good find too. Finding and / or breaking into a niche that hasn't been done seems tough. Learning a ton from the Professor of Thrift, aka Commonwealth Picker. Thanks again.
Question: in your area, do you have crooked estate sale companies that price small items so high they won't sell, and then buy up the unsold items at the end of the sale and put them on eBay themselves?
I know some of these Estate sale companies are doing just that, because they refuse to bulk sale to me or others at the end of the sale, and hell they refuse to make deals in any form pretty much which makes me wonder, WHY they refuse to wheel and deal or why do they not want to have someone in the wings that is willing to come in and help make it a successful clear out for the customers? It used to be that what did not sell during the estate sale would be offered at lower prices to those that were willing to take it all or take box lots at a discounted price to clear it out. I agree with you that it is because the people that are running the sale take it all for themselves and have secondhand stores with all the premium stuff that they refused to take offers on. I know this because I see it happening locally. It is deceptive practices, and they should be put on blast and the families should know that they are being short changed, by crooked estate sale companies.
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we're seeing enormous growth in apartment complexes. Everywhere I look, 5 story apartment building complexes are sprouting up and people are moving into them. I've started wondering if traditional garage sales here will become fewer (I think they already are) as the Boomer generation passes on. And yes, prices at estate sales and thrift shops here are higher than what I see in your videos, not allowing much if any margin for reselling.
If I could niche down to only video games I would definitely but it's getting harder and harder to either find the games at the right price or to find games at all. Competition is fierce and people just don't want to get rid of them anymore. Vintage clothes and hats are fun but take too long to sell. Gotta be an everything seller especially when mostly going to garage sales
Hey Kevin. Thought maybe a topic for laws on reselling in a future vid. Plus with you being a Dad and former teacher im sure it would worry you as well. Its people reselling things like Galaxy Gas which if you dont know is basically nitrous that kids are abusing and its making a comback due to tik tok. Its sold in huge containers as a for food use only to get around the law but it is obviously made to be used as a drug. From what i seen amazon no longer allows the company to sell there yet resellers are selling it on there and ebay and other places. It got me thinking on items used as drugs and even taking kids life that are being resold for profit and what reselling companies should do to combat that. Its sad to see but i know its always been out there in one way or another and will probably always be a neverending battle.
That drop shipper message was funny. I just wish they were honest about it. Unless they’re just ashamed they’re too lazy to do things for themselves lol. We’ve had some crazy experiences with drop shippers. We respect their request to not add an invoice, but they say nothing about not adding info about our business.
This kind of reselling be boring for most people for the resellers that watch your content I would like to have a line of products. that I sell over and over again when Stock Get Low Reorder it. from like a manufacturer or a wholesaler Or maybe work with a company to sell their products And you don't have to go out and looking for items to sell you can judge your sales number little better because selling the same stuff all the time with being a thrifter or a picker sells number is all over place
I sourced one way to get to 6k items listed and discovered that same method wouldn't work to get bigger. Just out of pure laziness, I started buying online opting to pay a tad more to buy in bulk to save many hours of sourcing otherwise.
Im just starting out as a reseller. I closed an unsuccessful brick and mortar in March '24. I am trying full-time resell on eBay. I follow you and several other resellers. I try to follow what they do, and i am quickly learning that just because people on the East coast or West coast can sell glass or figurines, for example, does not mean it will sell from Kansas. I have a 547 following on my daily UA-cam. What I am trying to do is my neuch being selling from my videos. I offer people the chance to buy at $3.00 above what I pay plus shipping. I only have 1 buyer. What am i doing wrong?
I’m not sure. I would sell items at or just below the market and make sure they are items that sell. 547 people are likely not enough to bring buyers in consistently.
You always say "This is how I do it" I have never heard you say this is the way to do it. Its hard to ignore these people but if we do, will they go away? 😂 😂 Probably not but we know who you are and what you stand for.
Niched is boring. However there are certain things I know well such as silver, gold, watches, music instruments, etc. But I have made a ton of money from toys, swimming pool supplies, sporting goods, shoes, hats, and any number of other things. Would I give up being an everything seller? O hell No!
The drop shipper lists things for sale, but does not have it in their inventory. So when the thing sells, they turn around and buy it elsewhere, and have it shipped to their customer.
well I'm in everything seller just kind of getting started not quite a year under my belt but I buy storage units and estate sales in their entirety at option what is this site that you mentioned that it can be bundled up and sold as a lot.? I would find that to be very useful
Impressed with the pronunciation of Labra-cadabra-doodle. I think that things aren't changing much. I don't see anything much different than when my Mom did this in the 80s-90s. We just have more places, like online live. Back then you could have proxy bids. If Mom had more than one auction she wanted to hit, she drop a kid at one with a number and she'd go to the next. My sister hated that, lol!
If Kevin didn't do social media, his resale business would be a lot less work, because he wouldn't have to show all the items to viewers. He could easily sell twice as much if that much time was freed up. I would reply to dropshippers that I know you're a dropshipper, please feel free to buy anything you need, I'll give you just the type of service your business requires. You Madonna/Marilyn Monroe lot makes me think you may watch the mighty Jebus!

Good morning Kevin! 😊 huggicates!😊
Thnks
First off, my condolences on your loss. Watching the video had me in tears. I'm an everything seller that would like to find that niche down, but as you, I love a good find too. Finding and / or breaking into a niche that hasn't been done seems tough. Learning a ton from the Professor of Thrift, aka Commonwealth Picker. Thanks again.
Kevin, I am interested in the Pyrex refrigerator dishes in the background of this video. I do not see them listed on EBay.
I bet diddy bought that oil! great video kevin!
A jack off all trades is a master of none, but often times better then a master of one
It’s against eBay terms so they can’t exactly be honest about it.
I used to go clean out garages and sheds that people didn't want to fool with 😊 before media and stores going out of business 😊
People buy pallets full, from Walmart returns 😊
What's the 117 bracelet you are wearing? I can't make out what it all says.
I just picked up two my buddies for $2 on Friday
I’ll give you 3$
My Buddy the origin of Chucky! 😂😂
hahaha, I have received the same message from the same drop shipper.
Ok have to ask where did you get your ewok shirt?!?!?!
When you lived in the OC did you find the vintage stuff you find on the East Coast?
I got 12 45s vinyl Fri. while at OC MD.
Hello Kevin 😊😊
Look everyone, I found the Diddler's baby oil supplier!!
👍
Boy you lost me🤣🤣🤣🤣❤❤
Niched is boring. However there are certain things I know well such as silver, gold, watches, music instruments, etc. But I have made a ton of money from toys, swimming pool supplies, sporting goods, shoes, hats, and any number of other things.
Would I give up being an everything seller? O hell No!

What is a drop-shipper? …I’m new
The drop shipper lists things for sale, but does not have it in their inventory. So when the thing sells, they turn around and buy it elsewhere, and have it shipped to their customer.
Thanks! Sounds like a risky idea
Tell that guy I make 6 figures reselling full time
I went to didbit and couldn't find the Doughboy 😢😢😢
It sold. Sorry.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why am I confused
as you know The Fed just cut rates so inflation is 📈📈📈 , everyone is going to feel the squeeze unfortunately
would that life be different without the internet
P diddy still buying vintage oils
Hey Oh!!!
More ads/commercials than normal
😮😮😮everyone wants something for nothing. Complaints are ridiculous
well I'm in everything seller just kind of getting started not quite a year under my belt but I buy storage units and estate sales in their entirety at option what is this site that you mentioned that it can be bundled up and sold as a lot.?
