Music is part of people's lives. It can't be separated. Independent from context, art pulses and we squeeze this cool music out, in the beat between body and soul. In the Northeast countryside, in the scenario of rural life, stepping on soil in a rhythmic way to lay the floor is part of a rhythmization that gave rise to coco. Among the diverse expressions throughout the region, in the first season of "Sounds good: a rhythmic history of Pernambuco", we decided to explore samba de coco of Arcoverde, which united the Agreste and the Sertão of Pernambuco and represents a lot of the music of our fields.
In the cocos the history is told. But not the canned history that is presented to us in textbooks. It's the life perspective of the people that learn about time in a different way. If history is narrative, we ask for permission to narrate a little bit of the history of the world, of Brazil, of Pernambuco, of the Northeast, and its countryside.
