Celessa's teats aren't hurting her. This is a learned "mothering skill" she learned from Nora. But to give Celessa some credit, she isn't as harsh as Nora is.

Celessa alternates, always answers Cecils cries but seems to need to copy Noras antics. No sign of the 'switch' so far. 🤷

Ok! Here's some more of my speculations. In the last video we saw Fleur she had a grooming session with Xena. I speculated that maybe those two might belong to the same troop a big troop with subgroups. You know like car parking troop and Skull head's troop's are split into smaller groups. That would mean that neither Fleur's troop or Nora's troop aren't more than groups. It could be so or they're simply related in some way. Another thought (speculation) tool place in my head during this video. What if there has been a "Revolution" in Fleur's troop. She could have been ousted and is now a member in Nora's troop. We know of one daughter of Fleur, Petal but she's been sterilised and we now of a boy but if he's still in the troop I don't know. Does Fleur had more daughters? So, back to my favourite speculation that both Vivy and Spotty moved to Fleur's troop it could mean they were part of ousting Fleur and one or both of them could be running Fleur's troop together with that quite young alpha the troop has. 🤓🇸🇪

The reason to why they leave is nothing I've found in any study so far they only mention that it do happen but far from often. I would guess a situation and the circumstances Vivy ended up with could get a female to leave or maybe even get ousted. If this happened I hope Spotty is with her. They've been friends since they were kids. I don't want either of them to be dead. So, all this could be a crazy way of for me to create a hope for them for my own sake. I'm convinced they know the most things happening around them. They can hear other troop members vocalisations and they can see structural changes. They can also see how the other troops act inside the troops and how united or confidence they're against other troops while meeting them. All mega troops are split into smaller groups/units. We've seen how ones of those groups was made from the car parking troop. The group called Ameia's clan by JW. A few years ago Skull head's troop was the biggest with 400-600 members. I think one or more of the other super troops; Jubilees, Nullah's and car parking troop have passed Skull head's in size today. When we see one of these big troops we don't see 500 monkeys we see a fraction of the troop. JW said that Skull heads troop was split into six or seven smaller groups/units. Often we see the central group where the alpha belongs to. These groups join forces if needed to. I guess it's during these joined forces we really can see which troop everyone belongs too. A group do have a female and a male at the top and I guess they run these groups after a model they know with an alpha female and her matrilineal in the centre with one or more male alphas. 🤓🇸🇪

As far I know, they are not related to Nora, but someone else will have to verify that. Maybe AM or others can point us to a link for the accepted geneologies of these troops?

Right? I’ve already wrote several comments asking this same thing on 2 different videos now. I always thought that they were brother and sister too through the matriarch Nora. Neal made himself, appointed himself alpha. One of Nora’s other sons did too…can’t remember his name but I’ve read a few articles that claim this particular kind of monkey does not interbred, but I guess it probably does still happen though.
Has anyone else noticed that Cellessa's teets are shorter/smaller than other nursing mother's teets? That may be the cause of discomfort for Cellessa as well as her abnormal behaviors and responses towards her nursing babies.
Her teats are smaller because Cecil is her first baby. Most young adult females who have only nursed one infant monkey, their teats are smaller and are a lot higher up on the chest than say a female who has had 5 baby monkeys. Give her a couple more years and a couple more newborns nursing and her nips will look like the rest. You can usually tell how many babies they have had and the age of mom by looking at their teats. The more babies they rear, the longer and stretchier they become and also become more bright red in color.
She’s so young and with her first baby, her teats have to be “broken” in. All moms/fertile females start out with small short teats until the baby monkeys stretch them out and break them in. I’ve seen especially in the pigtail moms where theirs will bleed with their first few baby monkeys. I’m sure they get pretty sore with how rough and how long infant monkeys suck constantly on them. Makes me feel bad for mom because I know how bad I hurt with both my babies. It’s really painful in the beginning. I couldn’t imagine the pain being all day and all night long because they get no breaks.
That baby is at the point he is teething. Judge if you think you could do better but there's no way I could. Plus its getting to the peak "nosey" age. That's when they chomp down on a nipple and start stretching. They want and do stretch them so long that they can look around prob 320°. From side to side and turning the opposite way to watch everything. At this point nipples get very sore and babies aren't light handed unless they do get scolded and pulled away firm the nipple. They ge sire just like we or any animal that breast feeds dies. Everybody always want to humanize them and start saying they are being mean or a bad mother bc they can't stand being a chew toy the whole time the baby cuts teeth. They usually learn to ease up anytime mothers movements change and the tension in her body feeds into the baby. It causes them to wise up once weaning starts. They go from being the boss and nursing 23 out of 24 hrs per day to sneaking in to gently as possible to get a few oz of delicious milk. It's the last thing they would let go of growing up or stay a baby. Don't worry guys 😂 there will be another one right after this for them to go right into this same process 😂 no wonder they look about 100 yrs old after a couple babies. They never stop having to hold on to a baby. Even when they are in a tree for the night. Couple of yrs like that waking up so much and is a big reason they are always wore out trying to squeeze in a nap until babies start making a run for it every time they aren't moving. They wiggle, squirm, and get rough trying to get the nipple or getting away from mother to go out and play

Haven't seen much of her yet. If she is still fertile, then probably. Matriarch usually give birth every year until menopause.
How would Neal be the father of Celesa’s baby Cecil? I thought Neal and her share the same mom, the matriarch Nora. I know incest does happen in the wild sometimes but I read that that these types of monkeys will not and don’t interbred. Are they siblings or not?
I can't accuse Celessa of being overly gentle, that's for sure...

@@judiththompson2423 Hi, I don't know much more than the following (which I've learned from taking my own notes based mostly on AM's videos since 2019): Neal and Neil are brothers whom I believe have been called current "co-alphas" of Nora's troop. As far I know, they are not related to Nora, but someone else will have to verify that. Maybe AM or others can point us to a link for the accepted geneologies of these troops?

Right? I’ve already wrote several comments asking this same thing on 2 different videos now. I always thought that they were brother and sister too through the matriarch Nora. Neal made himself, appointed himself alpha. One of Nora’s other sons did too…can’t remember his name but I’ve read a few articles that claim this particular kind of monkey does not interbred, but I guess it probably does still happen though.

Has anyone else noticed that Cellessa's teets are shorter/smaller than other nursing mother's teets? That may be the cause of discomfort for Cellessa as well as her abnormal behaviors and responses towards her nursing babies.
Not all of us women are “well endowed”. LOL. You could be right, they are really short.
Her teats are smaller because Cecil is her first baby. Most young adult females who have only nursed one infant monkey, their teats are smaller and are a lot higher up on the chest than say a female who has had 5 baby monkeys. Give her a couple more years and a couple more newborns nursing and her nips will look like the rest. You can usually tell how many babies they have had and the age of mom by looking at their teats. The more babies they rear, the longer and stretchier they become and also become more bright red in color.
She’s so young and with her first baby, her teats have to be “broken” in. All moms/fertile females start out with small short teats until the baby monkeys stretch them out and break them in. I’ve seen especially in the pigtail moms where theirs will bleed with their first few baby monkeys. I’m sure they get pretty sore with how rough and how long infant monkeys suck constantly on them. Makes me feel bad for mom because I know how bad I hurt with both my babies. It’s really painful in the beginning. I couldn’t imagine the pain being all day and all night long because they get no breaks.

That baby is at the point he is teething. Judge if you think you could do better but there's no way I could. Plus its getting to the peak "nosey" age. That's when they chomp down on a nipple and start stretching. They want and do stretch them so long that they can look around prob 320°. From side to side and turning the opposite way to watch everything. At this point nipples get very sore and babies aren't light handed unless they do get scolded and pulled away firm the nipple. They ge sire just like we or any animal that breast feeds dies. Everybody always want to humanize them and start saying they are being mean or a bad mother bc they can't stand being a chew toy the whole time the baby cuts teeth. They usually learn to ease up anytime mothers movements change and the tension in her body feeds into the baby. It causes them to wise up once weaning starts. They go from being the boss and nursing 23 out of 24 hrs per day to sneaking in to gently as possible to get a few oz of delicious milk. It's the last thing they would let go of growing up or stay a baby. Don't worry guys 😂 there will be another one right after this for them to go right into this same process 😂 no wonder they look about 100 yrs old after a couple babies. They never stop having to hold on to a baby. Even when they are in a tree for the night. Couple of yrs like that waking up so much and is a big reason they are always wore out trying to squeeze in a nap until babies start making a run for it every time they aren't moving. They wiggle, squirm, and get rough trying to get the nipple or getting away from mother to go out and play

Sorry, I am not buying that Celessa's teets are bothering her. Her teets are a light pink with no swelling. She has watched Nora's deplorable conduct towards infants for so long that she has copied her. She probably figures that's how you should treat your baby. Monkey see, monkey do. She's fine. She is just mean like Nora. Are there any other mothers that act like Celessa or Nora?
Exactly right. This is a learned behavior. She got this "mothering skill" from Nora.
