Mikhail Glinka: Ruslan and Ludmila Overture Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra Valery Gergiev, Conductor 10th Anniversary Concert Live at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden
That was Cabin Pressure by John Finnemore, starring Stephanie Cole as Carolyn, Roger Allam as Douglas, Benedict Cumberbatch as Martin, and John Finnemore as Arthur!
Conocidísima obertura de la ópera de Glinka, "Ruslan y Ludmila". Me gusta mucho este director y le da un aire muy vivo sin perder brillantez y además con un ramo de flores en una mano, lo nunca visto.
Pretty sure this was a practical joke, in which the orchestra grabbed a drunk man off the streets, gave him a bouquet of flowers, and said, "Stand here and make vague waving gestures at the orchestra."
I'm actually falling out of my seat laughing. I'm sorry, I find it so hilarious that if you look this song up, you get a pissing contest of which orchestra can perform it the fastest, and all I can think about is that show Mom when hearing this. 😂
@@johannschneider6372 Listen to this record once again , and then ask who else can play it so brilliant like Rossini's ouverture ( yes this music has nothing Russian)
@@ediccartman7252 Uh, no. This overture is super-Russian. And Johan Schneider is right - Mravinsky & his Leningrad Philharmonic performed it fastest (and absolutely stunningly).
@@marcustulliuscicero2676 The detailness and correctness of Marvinskys rendition is masterous and no one ever could do it better, it's really stunning! And yes, this is absolutely russian, as this overture is the work marking the beginning of an own "russian national music culture" ... 😆 The way Glinka combines brass and strings witht he woodwinds is so typically for the later Tschaikowsky and especially Schostakowitsch (listen to his Festive Overture in A), there*s nothing italian in it - which would be horrifiying as Ruslan and Ludmila is THE ONE russian poeme by Pushkin, dear Edic.)
hello! the video is out of sync with the audio. BUT THE PERFORMANCE ITSELF WAS GREAT. It will be greater if the audio is properly synced withe video. Thanks! :)
Браво, маэстро Гергиев. В этой музыке должно быть ощущение полета.
If he wanted to, he could conduct the orchestra with mere glances. Beautiful performance.
That's exactly what he does here , and in many more pieces .
This is sooooo awesome!!!!
Bravo!
This is beautiful. Why are people asking stupid questions?
Bravo to the orchestra.
This is just sooo perfect!

I'm bad at remembering names but when i see this conductor, i'm quiet sure of being stuck in my chair.. One more time, it happened ^_^

Where is his toothpick?

Este tío es un genio. ¡Bravo!

Your comment made my day.
The bouquet enjoyed the concert as well....it is speechless. :)
You forgot to say the drunk man who's capable to conduct with his eyes only . They should've done their best to find smb. like this.
Strange... I do not see any smoke coming out of the strings...

Listen to: Ewgenij Mrawinkij and his Leningrad's and ask again, who can play it the fastest ^^

Il dirige avec des fleurs à la main ?
Avec ses yeux . Vous n'avez pas toujours besoin de vos mains pour diriger.
me encanto
There is no way for the Russians to interpret the Russians. Gergiev is a real portent.
Mom theme song
my technical comment is: UUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
what's with the flowers?

Doesn't look like it to me
Eh the orchestra doesn't need him there at all. They can play this piece in their sleep.
He's chief conductor of this orchestra since many years. Come on ...
