  • The Stromer ST1 S is a high speed urban electric bike emphasizing sport riding (flatter handle bar, no rack) available in two frame sizes, one high-step style and one color (metallic lime green). Carbon fiber fork reduces weight and dampens vibration, oversized road tires cushion the ride and stiff custom thru-axles provide strength and rigidity. Capable of reaching 28 mph stock and the LCD panel lets you enter codes to tweak performance and enable additional features, large 180 mm hydraulic disc brakes provide great stopping power and the right lever activates power regen. Heavier than a lot of the city and road style ebikes I test at ~62 lbs but also more powerful, pricier as well but the warranty is 2+ years and Stromer has earned a good reputation.

Stromer build great electric bikes. They are solid and modern. These are city bikes for individuals. Very interesting video. The camera was mounted on the bike perfectly. The ride with you was great. Thank you for this video.

Hey Cort.. May I suggest that on your website review that you add the power in watts that the charger takes to run.. I charge things off solar, so this is important to know how many watts it takes.. Volts x amps gives you watts..
On another note I got to ride the Rad Rover & Wagon during Rad Bikes open house last weekend.. I gotta say that the Rad Rover is an awesome bike and a steal at the price.. Thanks for another great vid!!

OK, which would win the *off the line* test - The Stromer or the Bosch CX (in any recent bike you tested) ? That might be a good test to include in your reviews - like a standing start to some distance like 75 meters. I ask in the interests of taking off from a stop in traffic or for the rider who likes the thrill of the launch

I have a Stromer st1 - rode it for two summers, at 1200 miles the motor burnt up (or motor controller - its all located in the wheel unit). I was 1 month out of warranty... after repeated attempts to contact Stromer, finally got ahold of the warranty dept. They just sort of laughed and said - "yeah, sorry man nothing we can do for you." So I bought a $4000 bicycle that needs an $1100 part after 1200 miles... these bikes are gimmicky, unreliable and Stromer service is absolutely horrible to work with. Go with Yamaha or Bosch - Stromer won't be around long. Oh - and the shop I took it two had two st1's on the floor (poor people trying to get rid of them on consignment).

I think I like the motor on this bike, but not sure since I haven't ridden it and I probably never will. I like how they secure the battery. But overall the price kills it for me. Too expensive!

+MotorheadRedo Right now Stromer is selling some of the older Stromer Sport models with very similar drivetrain for ~$2k, reach out to them if you're interested, you can also get the Stromer ST1 Limited for ~$4k with a rack and fenders.

    ( 48 / 8 ) * 5 = 30 mph, not 28. That's quick!

+Duncan Carr No comment XD I think you can actually up the top speed on all of the ST1 models using a special code that's listed back in the EBR forums
