Few things I want to point out in the video.
The green space marines are the Dark Angels. Loyalists
The black space marines are the Black Legion. The legion that belonged to Horus. Traitors
The red marine is a World Eater space marine. Traitors.
The guardsman you see with the tanks and marines are Cadians or some regiments inspired from them. The Cadians are the standard many guard regiment model themselves to be.
The Death Korps of Krieg are not based on WWII Germany but based on WWI soldiers. A mix between the French and German troops. The Death Korps specialize in trench warfare.
The lances they use are explosive spears. If you look again when the spear hits the marine in has explosives on it. The horses that Krieg uses are heavily genetically altered and drugged. These horse have claws.

So there were two groups of the imperial guard in this video. The first group with the tanks and the space marines were Cadian guard. The gas mask troops with the horses were the Death Korps of Kreig.
The space marines in green armor were Dark Angels, and yea, they and the Salamanders have green armor so it's easy to assume they are salamanders.
Kreigers have a philosophy that dying in combat for the emperor is the best thing to achieve, so that they can repent for the sins of their ancestors. The story of Krieg is amazing and there are many videos telling the full story so i won't go into that here.
All you should know is that they are insanely loyal, they don't give a shit about losing tons of their own troops if it means they can complete their mission, and due to the way they produce and train their troops, most Kreigers are teenagers. Their iconic masks and coats are part of their history. Finally their horses, while hard to tell in this video, are so enhanced and genetically modified that they are nothing like modern horses, and are actually kinda horrific to look at once you know about them.
The enemies in this video were chaos cultists. The black armored space marines were Black Legion, formerally the legion of Horus before he was killed by the Emperor, and now under the command of Abbadon the Despoiler. The red armored space marine was a Khornite Berserker, of the World Eaters, under the Primarch Angron.

OH, So the green Space Marines where NOT Salamanders 😅 Dang, it's not as easy as green = salamander 🤦Thanks for helping me!
Really interesting to hear more about the Kreigers. I heard that they don't care if they die, so they go HARD. But I didn't know the horses weren't normal horses. But, I guess I should have known! Everything in 40k is MORE! 🤩
Wow, it was the legions of Horus? AND the red Space Marine was under Angron. Makes the whole video even cooler! I should rewatch it with this in mind 😱

@@OleHerland my pleasure. I'm one of these warhammer fans who's never played the tabletop game and doesn't have the time or money investment to get into it. But I really enjoy the lore and love to help and see new people enjoying it as well.
Once you get more knowledge you will realize things like colors can be misleading, and you learn more from the symbols on armor and banners. An example of this is the emblem on the dark angel shoulder plate. Much of the dark angels symbols involve swords, while the salamanders have the head of a dragon.

2:54 That Space Marine is from the Dark Angels Chapter. The one you are talking about is the Salamanders. The difference in uniform being the Dark Angel's green is a darker shade and that their sigil is a winged sword rather than a dragon that the Salamanders have.

The Death Korps of Krieg is the name given to all of the Astra Militarum regiments that originate from the devastated, post-nuclear Death World of Krieg in the Segmentum Tempestus.
Krieg was the site of a rebellion against the Imperium of Man over 1,500 standard years ago in the 40th Millennium and was bombarded with nuclear weapons followed by five hundred Terran years of grinding warfare to purge the heretical rebels. “In life, war. In death, peace. In life, shame. In death, atonement.”

The death korps of Krieg have nothing to do with the Nazis, and the World War Two in general.
The entire culture of their regiments is one big caricature of the First World War, that was an ordinary imperialist war that did not touch upon the issue of ideology.
The uniform of the guardsmen from Krieg is a standard infantry overcoat made of woolen cloth. Clearly French type, by the way.
Although the colors of the various Krieg regiments or special units within them may have different shades of uniform, ranging from black to light blue.
The helmets look more like the helmets of the soldiers of the Kaiser's Germany or the Russian Empire army of the mid-nineteenth century.
This is the standard tactic of trench warfare and the massive use of artillery.
This is the use of gas weapons, and problems with breaking through enemy defense lines.
    In general, a lot more.

While aesthetically they aren’t Nazis, that’s not what i meant with that.
Culturally, they have Nazi influences, but with a twist, in that they are both the SS and the ”subhumans“. Because that’s basically how they are raised. They are worthless scum because of their heritage, they are assigned numbers and the only good thing they can do for the empire is die. They follow orders to the letter, never express emotion and have their faces. People tend not to think about it because of the WW1 aesthetic, but it’s disturbingly similar.

The back and gold space marines with the spikes and horns are Traitor marines/Chaos space marine members of the Black Legion and the Red one is Chaos marine too a Khorne Berserker of the World Eaters.
The Death Korps of krieg are a imperial guard regiment from the planet krieg they specialise in siege trench warfare and are trained from birth to have no fear of the death they follow any order without question and will willingly die for their god Emperor. They literally don't care for their own lives they will charge down anything from hordes of Orks and Tyrannids, Chaos marines or even demons, plus their gasmasks hide how young they actually are most Death Korps guardsmen are teenagers practically kids, if they took off their gasmasks all you will see is the emotionless face of a 13 year old with cold dead eyes.
Those horses/Death riders are not horses the a genetically engineered creatures that are much faster and can take more damage than a normal horse plus those spears that they use have anti tank explosives on then that why they can kill Traitor space marines with it.

To clear some stuff up for those confused about the Nazi part:
I didn’t mean that the Death Korps were Nazis because of their aesthetics, but because of their culture. They have such influences in 2 ways; They are raised both as ”subhumans“ on Krieg, with numbers for names, put trough extreme brainwashing to believe not only the state ideology but that they are scum because if their heritage, and told that the best thing they can do for the empire is die.
They are trained to always follow orders and never express any emotion, and they have no faces.
People tend not to think about it because of their looks, but it’s very uncanny when you linger on what is happening on Krieg itself. They are basically an amalgamation of ”degenerates“ and SS troopers with a WW1 aesthetic.

Loved your reaction ! Here are the biggest misconceptions about Krieg that you must avoid :
    1. " Kriegers are suicidal " : Wrong ! Their death has to be a useful one. There's a difference between wanting to die and being ready to sacrifice your life for the Emperor at any moment.
    2. " Kriegers use shovels as their main close combat weapon " : Nope. there is no mention of Kriegers using shovels as their weapon of choice in ANY lore book, stories or piece of media. They use bayonets and this weapon has been stated to be one of the most iconic weapons of the Korps, not the entrenching tool.
    3. " Kriegers are just WW2 germans in space " : Krieg is based on WW1 and not only on Imperial Germany ! The uniform of Korpsmen is actually closer to a French Poilu. The helmet is more German inspired and the gas mask looks like a British SBR.
    4. " Kriegers never retreat and know no fear " : Wrong, they have routed and can break. At the end of the day, they're only humans. People often argue that Kriegers kill commissars because they're braver than them. The only occurence of Kriegers killing commissars was on Vraks, where Kriegers killed their commissar because they were refusing to let them retreat back to the safety of the second line of trenches.
Memes have sadly bled into the lore for most people and turned Krieg from Grimdark to grimderp. Keep these 4 points in mind when thinking about Krieg !
Looking forward to the next video !

    Right, here we go:
    The loyalist side:
The normal people with the lasguns are Imperial Guardsmen - regular soldiers with harsh military training and discipline. The ones in green are Cadian Shock Troops, they are the most common Guardsmen in the Imperium. The ones with gasmasks and trench coats are Guardsmen from the Death Korps of Krieg. They are highly devoted to the Emperor and believe that their ancestors have sinned by betraying the Emperor, so their way of attonement is to give everything they have. They are often depicted as pure suicidal, that is not correct. They will simply fight and die in His name, as death is the ultimate sacrafice. This pure fanaticism leads to them being perceived as really weird and scary to both their allies and enemies.
The green Space Marines are from the Dark Angels chapter. These guys are super secretive and don't play well with others. However, they have specialiezed companies for every job. As you guessed correctly, all Space Marines can take a crazy amount of damage, due to them haven two hearts, fast regeneration, a reinforced skeletal structre and so on. Of course, their senses are hightened and are vastly superior than those of normal humans.
    The vile heretics:
The ordinary footsoldiers are Chaos worshippers - they might be factory workers, farmers, soldiers, you name it. They were led to believe that by betraying the Emperor and serving the Ruines Gods would bring them freedom from the oppression of the Imperium. That is false, as they are now the slaves and servants of the Chaos Space Marines.
The Chaos Space Marines were also led to believe that they would have the power over all by serving Chaos. That is partially correct. If such a Chaos Space Marine does enough deeds in the name of the Gods, he might be rewarded by mutations, demon weapons and so on - however, the Gods might feel like having a laugh and just turn him into a mutant thing. Killing a normal Space Marine is a nigh impossible thing for a mortal, but killing a Chaos Space Marine is even worse.
By the way: Chaos Space Marines may serve Chaos Undivided - like the ones we see in this video, who are from the Black Legion, or they might only serve one god. For instance, Chaos Marine of Nurgle will mutate into a vile, stinking, disease-ridden Marine.
If I may recommend a subject for the next video: either the Death Korps of Krieg or Chaos Space Marines.

as you alluded to, a chain sword is actually a pretty bad sword. but it matters little, a space marine could easily tear a man apart with his bare hands. What's important is how it affects weapons and armor/armored flesh. what it doesn't cut through with that powerful swing, it chews through with those serrated teeth.

The Death Korps of Krieg come from a planet that actually rebelled against the Imperium. The revolt turned into a civil war with the Imperial loyalists being massively outnumbered. They called for help and the only response of the wider Imperium was a series of launch codes and the location of a bunch of nukes. The rebels would be punished and the revolt put down, no matter the cost.
The rebels had no idea what was about to rain on them. They went to lay seige to the major Hive city that stayed loyal, only to find it sealed, its blast doors shut to protect its population from what was about to happen. After days of nuclear bombardment almost all of the rebels were wiped out but were not totally gone, the odds were now more or less even.
The Imperium assumed that the planet was lost, but the survivors on each side began a horrific war of attrition in the nuclear hellscape that was the surface that lasted generations. Once any combatant left their protective bunker they had about 15 minutes to live before the radiation killed them and so their tactics became outright fatalistic. The rebels fighting out of absolute hatred, the loyalists out of duty and what became a fanatical need to atone for the sins of their planet and how it went to waste. Slowly the loyalists took back their planet, trench by trench, bunker by bunker, inch by inch until finally they were victorious.
After 500 years of the most horrific war in the worst conditions imaginable Krieg contacted the Imperium to report that the rebels had been wiped out and that Krieg was ready to return the to the fold. Being a blasted, irradiated hellhole the Imperium didn't expect that Krieg would have much in the way of material to pay their tithe, so they asked for men for the Imperial Guard. They were absolutely shocked when Krieg responded that it was ready to send not one, but twenty fully trained and equipped regiments. Not only that, but Krieg requested that their troops be sent to the most hazardous and lethal battlefields available.
From the very second that a Krieger learns to speak, they are instilled with the belief that they must atone for the sins of their planet against the Emperor and that the only way to do that is to pay in their own blood. They fight without regard for their lives and will die fighting rather than retreat no matter the odds. Other units have Commisars to prevent retreats. The Death Korps have Commisars to keep them from charging into gunfire too early.

Just thought I'd make a quick comment in regards to the Dark Angel Space Marines' weapons in this video.
Those guns are bolters. They shoot quickly as a lot of automatic rifles, but do not shoot (for us) standard bullets. Think of every shot as part bullet/part mini-rocket, and you can see why getting hit with such a thing equals a bad time for the target.
or as Rubixraptor put it in one of his Darktide videos: "a gun the size of a microwave into which I load mailbox-sized magazines in order to turn the next unfortunate hive-goblin I come across into soup."

Kriegers aren't based on the nazis. They're based on both German and French WW1 trench warfare. They don't have concentration camps, though they're trying to atone for their world's previous rebellion. Every Krieger is devoted to the Emperor's service. Children and women work in munitions factories. Men (using 13+ years) join the guard. They're odd in that some of their ranks are grown in vats.

the death korps of krieg are most commonly known for their utter disreguard for their own safety. usually the imperium sends komissars to regiments to keep their morale up and keep them from routing. komissars sent to the korps of krieg are tasked with preventing them from killing themselves too quickly. they are, in every definition of the word, fearless. the death korps are known to man the most disturbing and low-chance-of-survival battlefields across the entire imperium, and they do so gladly.

its always much harder to identify which chapter an Loyalist Space Marine belongs too when you first start as a lot of them share the same base colouring yet in different shades and you have to look more for the trim colour e.g around the edges of the huge shoulder guards etc but once you start to learn more and know more about the different chapters and their symbols (on the shoulder pads as well) it becomes much easier - chaos space marines are much easier distinguish as their armor is much more elaborately decorated with spikes and dark icons etc and almost always in what major Chaos God they worship but in time you will about to know what God a new chaos group serve with just a glance

I cant remember the name, but the spear used by the Krieg Cavalry, is essentially a 9 foot steel pole with an explosive charge packed behind an adamantium steel tip. Think of a contact explosive. it goes off when pressure is applied. I.E, when it impacts on a target. It's a grenade firing a spear tip into you at point blank range.
As for the Cav charge, Krieg horses are genetically engineered. More powerfull, no fear, faster. Krieg infanty is the ultimate "F*ck you" from humanity to the galaxy. They see themselves as owing a debt to the Emperor, on account of their homeworlds betrayal against the Imperium, and this debt can only be repaid by dying in service to the Emperor. The result of this belief, is a soldier so zealous, so absolutely fanatic, that he will strap himself in grenades and detonate them once close to the enemy. And he will do so with the same eagerness and joy as we would greet a loved one after a long time apart. Their commissars are specially trained to keep their soldier from suicidal charges into enemy entrenched positions. The Imperium might solve problems by throwing enough human lives at them, but there is no need to useless waste of life. better they attack somewhere they can make a difference.
Coincidently, the amount of "accidental" commisar death on the battlefield is substantially higher among the ranks of the Death Korps of Krieg.
And as for melee combat, thechannel "Arch" has a few videos specifically talking about the need for melee in 40k, when tachnology is so advanced.
Should you be interested, I am writing a fanfic about 40k called "corruption redeems" on royalroad (please forgive me for the shameless self promotion, at least I made sure it was far enough down that you need to expand the comment to see it)

6:48 your question about the Death Korps of Krieg is yes and no.
The Death Korps are born from a 500 year long civil war that burned the world in Nuclear fire. The Loyalists won but the guilt of their people's rebellion was deep, to the point that their entire culture revolves around that shame. Shame that could only be vindicated by the deaths of their enemies as well as their own.
Their families are not in concentration camps. The Death Korps do not have families, only duty. Most of the entire population are born and bred to be unfeeling soldiers and deployed to the most hellish of worlds and bloodiest of battles.
Other regiments of the Imperium dislike the Death Korps, not because they were traitors, but because they are unsettling to a normal man. They cold, unfeeling, and faceless army with numbers for names. They hate the enemy as much as they hate themselves and will drown the galaxy with their blood as penance to their God-Emperor.

@@OleHerland What is even more sad is the fact that most of their soldiers are no more than teenagers as young least 14 yrs old. Their bulky suits and voice distorting masks create the illusion of a combat veteran, which ironically what these kids are given that they are trained in live-fire battles before they are shipped off world.
What is even more hardcore is that the Commissars attached to them are unlike most Commissars from other Regiments. Instead of instilling fear and discipline in the ranks, Commissars assigned to Krieg are tasked with keeping them from killing themselves in fruitless attacks (which sometimes end with the Commissar getting executed by the Kriegsmen for perceived cowardice)

So, right on many counts, *BUT* the Death Korps of Krieg is not patterned after WW2 Germany. Instead they take their cues from the grinding trench battles of WW1. Stylistically they wear Late WW1 German style helmets, British style gas masks, and trench coats (appropriately referencing the source of the coat's name here, given their tendency to engage in trench warfare). Around the tops of their boots they wear puttees, which were a part of many WW1 uniforms, including the United States, British Commonwealth, the Austro-Hungarian Army, the Belgian Army, the Dutch Army, the Imperial German Army. In a way, they are an amalgam, with a background rooted in post-apocalyptic sci-fi and regimental culture/customs reminiscent of extremely exaggerated Prussian Army drill and discipline. 😁

I've already blown up the comments, but the best way to describe the Death Korps of Krieg is, "What if Verdun was an entire planet that repeatedly nuked itself." They are heavily French-inspired inspired though they blend many bits and pieces of other nations that fought in WWI. There is a regiment of Imperial Guardsmen that are based on WWII Germans, though, the Armageddon Steel Legion, a mechanized infantry division who are WWII Germans wearing American trench coats. They focus on fighting the Orks(who are essentially British soccer/Football fans but green and in space.)

    • @MrPikaGammer
      @MrPikaGammer 10 місяців тому

Two things to add: Kriegers feel as though they are all the worst kind of sinners since their homeworld rebelled against the Imperium, so they fight fervently and spend their lives to atone for that. The second thing is "Why Chainsaws?" because they are an effective psychological weapon. Whats scarier than an eight-foot-tall man in a tank's worth of armor with a chainsaw sword or axe?

Though I BELIEVE the krieg armor is more resembling of WW1 Germany rather than nazi's. But I might be a bit rusty on my WW history.
I'd also point out one thing that always strikes me here, is that the Astra militarum forces stand behind the Space Marine, because they see him as someone who will keep them safe.
The kriegers rush ahead of the marine, because they know even the paint on his armor is worth more than their lives.

Kriegers arent like nazis uniforms and tactics, they arent from WWII like type soldiers. They are from WWI and they are a mixure of Franco-Prussian soldier and tactics. The only "nazi" like thing you can see in Wh40k is the Imperium Aquila and a Commissar but Commissars are from the USSR.
PS: about Chainswords, Chainscythes, Chainaxes and Chainclaws I dont know, I mean, they are bulky and cant do much against armor but Wh40k so there you go. And about regular Swords, Axes, Scythes, Claws and Hammers, this weapons are Ionaized or something like this that are extremly good against armor units and vehicles.
The Krieger Horses are a breed of Earth Horses that are modified, they are stronger, bigger and faster that only run with a Krieger mounting them, if the Krieger dies when the horse is running, the horse will keep running until it dies taking everything with it, they can withstand from a lasgun shot tu posibly a tank explosion.
The reason they wear masks isnt only because is an advantage for bio-quimical hazards but is actualy yo hide their identity, Death Korps of Krieg is entity, not an identity, so doesnt matter if you are white or black, men or women, you are Krieger and thats all..... Also because they hide the fact that they are teens on their probably 16-18 years old, probably younger.

When you are bron from a vita-womb you go to your parents for them to teach you the basics, then depending of your skills you go to an industrial district or stright to the military even tho both ends in the same place, a trench, when you get enough body strength, knowledge of combat and stuff, you are trhown in to the barracks, but no all of them, lets say you have a diformity or you had an accident that imposibilitates you for going to battle, well, depending of how well you are with a tool, you still can live in the homeworld never seeing a battle (wich is the worst fate of a Krieger) it goes far as like "if you are pretty good with number and machinery" or in short, at your job, they just put you in charge of an industrial district, workshop or just let stay in your possition as a worker. Of course this is all but sadness for a krieg worker who just wanted to die for the Emperor, but still, you need tanks, weapons, food, electricity, etc for your men and women in the battlefield and homeworld.

Nazis? No lmao. They're WW1 French/German inspired. They have a tank that is exclusive to them which is basically a Soviet KV-2.
They're fanatically zealous and value victory and dying for the Emperor above all else because they feel incredibly guilty about their planet having rebelled ~500 years ago. Their zealotry gets played up in memes a lot, but they do, canonically, have to occasionally be held back from charging because they value their own lives so little that it can be counterproductive to let them make a push.
There's a book that shows how they train to waste as little equipment as possible (to limit the logistical strain on the Administratum) and consider themselves to have fought well if they force the enemy to spend more resources than they do. I believe the title is Down Among the Dead Men.
