"We should go back to a comedic Batman!" Have any of you ever seen the cartoon _Batman: The Brave and the Bold_ ? I think it strikes a nice balance between modern Batman's action-drama and old-school Westian hi-jinx.
13:47 - 14:38 This section was a whole movie where a blue spy is hired to kill the entourage of the worlds most influential ambassador and she starts by taking out the guys on the outside, but the movie takes a twist when she’s whisked away into a foreign world down below (Went kinda Ergo Proxy with that last part, anyone? 😏)
1:20 The devs of Ark will stop adding new bullshit to the game and start actually making it stable someday. Or they'll die of old age and the game will be 160 Etabytes by then and still a buggy, non-optimized piece of dinoturd. 2:00 Bell rings, everyone dies. 3:00 I played some ZX-Spectrum games (eighties computer) in a lazily made emulator once, and they were unplayable because whoever made the emulator didn't test to see what bringing games that run at like 50 Hz of CPU speed into computers that have several more zeros behind their Hz rate does. I remember Double Dragon looking like a Sonic game. Anyhow, yes, a computer being too fast for the game can make games run faster than intended. But nowadays many games are always trying to use as much of the resources as needed (or using them accidentally,) so you can't see it happening too much. 18:30 Fall of the boss. 21:10 Two young men, going for a ride. Like Dumb and Dumber.
DC shouldn’t emulate the success of the MCU, it should continue to do its own thing as it’s doing now (they’ve went on record about focusing less about connected universes, for instance). Different characters are better fit for different tones, based on the point/common premise of their character, i’d prefer Batman to still stay grounded/realistic to keep the intended aspects of fear that made the no killing rule era of Batman so great. Can’t really hide in the shadows or scare people it you dawn the blue & yellow, and it’d still be an odd uncontextualized choice for in-universe practically speaking for blue & grey. The Hush suit should be saved if they get around to his developments with Nightwing, as Nightwing calls Batman out on his brutality instead of taking an approach or legitimate redemption considering in the beginning Batman has the (intentional) character flaw of enjoys the payback feeling of tormenting criminals.
DC shouldn’t copy MARVEL, that was their mistake with the DCEU to begin with, playing the catchup game. Then when they tried to emulate MARVEL’s tone at the last second with JL it was incredibly unfitting. Characters should just stick to their intended tones with Superman/Shazam as a lighthearted inspiration, Batman with more grounded, practical, gritty detective-drama vibes, etc. You can definitely emulate Gotham as the world of Monsters, Detective Noir, Vigilantes & Organized Crime, but I wouldn’t turn the light hearted tone up /too/ much, at most it should be self-aware once it gets to the more absurd concepts that arise, if they did it anyways. Which granted, would be cool.
Also, i’m pretty worried about that Birds of Prey movie. Seems Tarantino styled for sure, but there’s too much leaning on Harley rather than the Birds of Prey itself. I have no idea where it’ll go, though I can’t say i’m interested. I hope it’s a W for DC but I really don’t have much hope for it to be.
Another thing I wanna say, when people say “The Batman” sure it’s something they’ve said back then, but saying that’s more realistic in itself. Batman’s a myth, and similar to “The Lockness Monster” or “THE Boogeyman” you add “The” because you’re generally unfamiliar with whatever /it/ is. The difference between “Hey it’s Batman” & “Hey it’s The Batman” is the difference between the myth & humanization, realizing it’s just a guy you can grow to be generally familiar with. They did the same thing in the Nolan movies & in Gotham with “The Balloon Man” (which in that case is whacky while still being real about it). Even when there’s a serial killer, realistically the public would call them “The (X) Killer” or something of the sort in order to identify the person by what ever they know about him, it’s just in this case it’s a man dressed as a Bat, and hence in the beginning they call him The Batman until they grow more fond of him in the city.
