What Happened to Iran’s Leftwing Opposition After 1979?

The Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ) is very pleased to be welcoming author Yassamine Mather.
Yassamine Mather is Acting Editor Academic Journal Critique published by Taylor and Francis - Her research is within the framework of the Middle East Centre, University of Oxford.
She is the author of chapters in several books, including Communist Parties in the Middle East: 100 Years of History, and Against Capital: Experiences of Class Struggle and Rethinking Revolutionary Agency.
This talk will look at the history of the Iranain left after the 1979 revolution looking both at groups and organistaions that gave critical support to the Islamic Republic as well as organisations that opposed it and faced repression.
