Batman 1989 The Video Game - NES | Original and "Dark Knight" Hack | Comparison - Dual Longplay
A pretty good hack, and an excuse to do a dual screen video of Sunsoft's Batman for the NES. This hack changes the colour palette, alters some cutscenes, changes the stage maps to make them less hard (though some areas become a little trickier), while the bosses become much easier as they take a lot less to kill.

@@mrmadmight266 well. yes but some colors breaks and final levels too, the editor of levels are not very compatible with the prototype rom. too bad
You added the blue buildings and such to the stage so we could see Batman better didn’t you?
@@datdankdj8264 Well, yes, i hacked the whole game, but due limitations of the editor engine, some things can´t be implemented.

I was a big time fan of NES Batman 1989 (still am) and I consider it the first Batman game I ever played (apart from the early 80's isometric 8bit micro 3D game). This rom hack is like a love letter to the original game and would make Sunsoft blush back in the day!!?! Great stuff.
what makes 16:24 creepier with the rom hack is that those frames of animation belong to a dead man

I always beat this boss by just spamming the boomerang subweapon while taking damage, finishing him before he kills me.

If they just hacked the suit color & left the stage colors/background alone, id accept it. Problem with that hack, it looks weird now. Like it lost some detail or something to that effect. Imho, hack is worse

mmmm… Sorry guy. While I like the updated pictures of the joker. The stages ( especially the first one ) are pretty bad. I think if you did a more darker color swap it would have been much better. You could have captured the dark knight with a pallet swap alone. I find some of the stages where slaughtered for the sake of change. I felt the bell tower was changed for the sake of change too and that small spot had some really nice graphics. I feel like this is one of those NES games that was treated extremely well with a meticulous hand. This game really doesn't need any touch ups. I bet you can do the dark knight justice with a good pallet swap. That's just my opinion my man and its only mine. I will say you have a set of balls to hack a game that already reeks of perfection. Keep attempting more hacks.
