This is amazing for lay people too. Thank you so much for teaching the reasons behind reverence and helping us have the resources to begin to engage in more intentional love at mass. Thank you Gabriel, your videos are full of so much love. God bless you and your family.
Thanks Gabriel for the prayer hand tip. I started using it about 6 years ago. It has helped me tremendously to be focused on the Mass and giving reverence to God. I am not an altar server but a 60 year old parishioner looking forward to heaven. 🙏🤠
Thank you Gabi. For ALL you do for young Catholics. As a 36 yr old father, I still SERVE. Not just as a Lector, EM, but also as a Server. Mainly because there have been such a loss in the amount of Altar Servers. Peace in Christ
Yes! thank you so much. I'm a new altar served and I just served on Saturday and Sunday, yesterday and the day before yesterday. Very helpful tips! Thank you!
***** Yep! It's highly important to dress nice for mass. What's unfortunate is I see other kids dress without reverence. Not that I'm judging them, but it's just unfortunate. It takes away the sacredness of the mass and privilege to partake in the sacrifice of the Eucharist. 1 thing that terrifies me is when I see Deacons with sandals >_>
Mate I just love what you said, people used to think I was too much, later in life I met many people that agree with me and I actually change some people about being reverence in church God bless, praise be Jesus and Mary forever and ever x
I absolutely love this video. I grew up as an Altar Server at my church, and I loved every minute of it. If my work schedule allowed, I'd gladly do it again.
I want to thank my blessed friend Eugene McKee at St Anne in Richmond Hill, GA. He teaches all the servers in the most reverent, traditional, and prescribed ways. He’s a most gentle teacher and friend especially to the young who are encouraged by him together with the pastor. His brother who was living with him has just passed away, Danny McKee. Please pray for his soul and the Carmelites of Savannah. May God bless you.
As an altar server in the Ordinary Form, I love this video but I love all of your videos. Your video on the Eucharist is my utmost favourite!! Look forward to new ones
I was searching how to be a better Alter Server and this was the only one that showed up. Other videos were trainings. Thank you for this video! As a 13 year old alter Server who started last year and didn't do most of this. I did the prayer hands but just started dressing formal 2 weeks ago.
@@gabiafterhours I just got back from church (I go to the Sunday Evening mass and serve there)! I used all of these and it really helped. I just subscribed and I saw a few of the titles I will check them out.
@@gabiafterhoursThank you! I have been doing all of these for a year now and it has made me a better altar server. I am doing an adoration of Benediction tomorrow.
Another great tip comes with experience in a way. In my parish, our priests all have different styles. As an altar server, I’ve sort of adapted to each priest by remembering the tiny details about each priest (one goes faster, one isn’t as lavish). With these facts in mind, I’ve tweaked the way I serve for each priest, making the mass more efficient. So I guess my tip is: Be observant.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! We are in a very small parish, and there’s no formal training for the servers. This was so helpful to make sure they display and practice reverence.
Gabi! This is the best video I've ever watched about altar servers. In my parish, the altar servers should dress the way that you described even the girls should go with dress pants and black shoes. If we dress jeans the Master of Ceremonies don't let us do what altar servers do. We have to organize everthing before mass. And we have to keep our hands in praying positions too. God bless, my brother (in Christ)
I am an altar server here in the Philippines, thanks for your great videos.. because of your videos, I learned a lot about faith! Hope to see you soon! God bless.. :)
Sir, thank you for this very thoughtful video. You are an inspiration. May God bless you, your family, and your fellow servers at the Altar of God. In Christo, John
good video im an altar server and ill be following all those guidelines including the dress code even though I don't wear surplice and cassock I wear the alb and cincture
Absolutely wonderful! It's very hard to watch altar servers not do these things. Hands clasped and low below their waist is horrible to see. Thank you for posting this video!
This video brought back memories. It always amazed me that I never drop the cross. That cross was bigger and too heavy for me to carry. One person told my mom that I had this serious look that it was my job to make sure the cross got to the place even if I wobbled to center the weight of the cross. A few times the organizer walked up to me looking worried, because of none the Alter server didn't show. Two times I wore flip-flops, and got a lecture from the priest.
I definitely remind the young guy to adore the Eucharist, but I wonder how often I should be nudging him about his hands and nonchalant gestures and movements.
Sir I really want Jesus to do a miracle in my life.... My family..... I am in a very bad critical position of my life.... Can u pray for me..... Sir pls..... Tell Jesus to act for me....pls do Reply..... Daily I Dont get sleep.... I want someone to pray earnestly for me....
Does he love person with disabilites? We never see them as having any part in altar service. Persons who are autistic are excluded because sometimes they could act irreverent. But the Holy Spirit also dwell in those who are autistic.
Not so close. But hope to have a chance to meet you up in the future. In the meantime, I have some questions for you, Gabi: I was recently invested in the Brown Scapular and Miraculous Medal, by priests in my parish. Is it correct that I don't have to get any future Scapulars or Medals blessed? If so, is it also applied for my other ones acquired before the investment, and ones I will possibly give to other people? Thank you in advance, Gabi!
Very informative video! I am an MC at my church and I help teach the new servers and this is a great video to help back up why we do certain things during the mass. I have a question for you, could you give me the company name of the surplice you were wearing in the video (might say on the tag)? If not don’t worry.
This is great. It would be good if you could do a video how to handle Sacred objects on the alter and more detail how to serve in the Holy Mass. I have seen in so many parishes alter servers do not know the basic things to do. May be another video of why boys alter servers

this is definitely something i will work on, but the other altar servers at my parish don't really understand the importance of their role and are VERY irreverent. they actually face the congregation during Mass and not the Altar, and talk during Mass, let alone standing reverently. they are also much younger than me, making them follow this will be difficult hmm. i don't wanna undermine the priest who trains the altar servers but he doesn't mention how/why to be reverent :-(

It changes the meaning of the prayer. Actions have meaning. It is also distracting...trying to pray the our father and you can't help but analyze the other persons hands etc... cold/sweaty hands... but in the end... nobody is going to stop you. It isn't a battle worth fighting in my opinion. Hold hands with strangers all day for all I care.
