I really like how you showed more of the gauges on this vid as you talked about them. It makes it easier for me to see what’s going on in other vids when you do a quick shot of them so I know where to look to find altitude, air speed, ground speed and ect. Cool vid!
Mischa, I’ve been watching your channel for the past month. I find your enthusiasm for flight contagious! As I’m starting to plan for my fixed wing PPL, I hope to find an instructor like you. :-)
Very nice video!! I´m ATPH pilot in Brazil hows flying a BH407 as private family, I already flown 8 years through the Amazon , down on the San Paulo and Rio beaches, but I never flown thru the mountains!! It´s so beautiful and amazing!!I miss to have this experience someday too. Congratulations!!!!
Mountain flying tip! Yeah!! Great video! Do more mountain flying tips and keep up the great work! You’re a natural teacher or as my grandfather used to say, “boy, you’re a good explainer!”
Great video Mischa as always...My understanding of in versions are, warm air that is forced upwards by colder air. Hence to temp went up with altitude. Typically and inversion happens between ground and about 6-8000ft. Looking forward to the next video... :)
Love this one. Really interesting to hear your running commentary on the approaches. I’ve been doing some similar flying around here so nice to see and learn from live examples like that.
Philip says is it safe doing all that hard work I don't want to lose my pals. In snow drifts. Take care phil.philip wishes he could buy your cabri.only if you could teach me for touring the uk.
It was interesting to see how close to the edge of power you take this machine. I would have thought you needed much more power reserve to land, especially in what could have been a soft spot. I would be afraid to get stuck then have to say," sorry bud you're walking down to the bottom." Excellent video's! I have some time in fixed wing and these vids make me nervous, how close you get to terrain makes me clench!
Haha I joke with my students all the time that if we can't make it out they are walking down. We knew the surface was pretty hard because it was very wind blown. Plus we knew that we could hover once we were in ground effect. That is the major factor. The helicopter takes much more power to hover when you are out of ground effect.
Hey mate what a excellent video one of the ur best yet. Has the power upgrade in the cabri given it more power or just shifted the 100% mark so that 100% is now the tru value? And have they fixed the window fogging problem yet?Iv only had a short fly in one but what a great bit of kit.
Hey, the power upgrade is awesome. It has shifted the 100% mark so no it's like you are using 112% but it only shows 100%. Now you have a yellow zone as well that you are only allowed to be in for 5 minutes. Yes they have partially fixed the window fogging issue. They have more vents now to make that better.
6:40 goes to show how crucial references are, I couldn't tell if you were ~20-50 feet off the ground or ~200-300 due to the trees being covered and almost looking like groups of rocks. Of course depth perception helps but still pretty crazy
Question for Mischa. I am interested to know your view on the argument that mountain flying should be carried-out in twins in much the same way as this is recommended for extended over-water flight? I heard this from a high time driver based on his belief that in most cases an engine failure in a single over mountains is unlikely to result in a 'safe' landing. is this the sort of question which goes back to single vs twin safety?
Hi, why you don t have yellow above 90% and in FLO on top!... the cabri I fly above 90 is yellow and have a max of 5min to be on it. Thanks for the video!
Needs a turbo or supercharger to keep sea level power... turbo is more economical but I'm not sure which one is more reliable... but I would guess a supercharger is more reliable...
The reality is that this is a training helicopter and we don't need to land on the top of 10,000' mountains. We can typically land on top of all the mountains we have here and love the power limitations. It is a great opportunity to teach our students how to fly with a fully loaded aircraft at max density alt. operations. It's no fun ripping around always having enough power for everything you land on. They don't learn nearly as much that way.
We don't like to have them on for autorotations so we take them on and off. Some flights we get to spontaneously go to the mountains but don't put the bear paws on. We just make sure we don't lower the collective all the way.
such beautiful scenery

Jared Grant that’s awesome I’m glad.
Indeed, very interesting video. Nice comments too

Awesome man i'm sure you will. All the best with it.

i watch a lot of youtube stuff, these vids are the best, best and most awesome of the whole youtube
Haha wow thanks a lot man that means a lot.
Excellent video

Haha thanks, good to know I'm a good explainer. Ya I thought you guys would really enjoy these mountain flying tips.
Fantastic video!!! Looking forward to flying the Cabri G2. See you guys in Vegas. Love all of your videos. Keep up the great work.

I love your videos bro. I think you're a great instructor. I'm going to BC helicopter skool.
Doing the wind checks at 5900’ your IAS vs TAS vs GS looks like a pretty calm wind situation.

nice video Misha, keep up the good work. watching from Tajikistan
Super flight
at the inversion did u see the windshear? was about 15 to 20 kt horizontal shear. Nice video !

I've always found inversions weird. I was in Whistler skiing and it was 6° on the peak but -10° in the village.
Ya they sure are crazy.

Following you guys as you leave Japan and head to Russia now. 7/27/2018
How old must I be to go on a intro flight with BC helicopters

Who? Ya it’s super nuts how quick you lose total reference. It’s something we have to be super careful about.
Absolutely. And man those mountains look gorgeous, From Abby myself and hoping to take your course one day. Keep up the great work!
Repeat question...who is that band you open the videos with...very addicting..some kind of electronic artist?

Nice Bone Dome..!!!

I have a question...in all those mountain lakes are there fish in those lakes? 😁
William Bowen some of them have fish. It depends if they have been stocked or not.
What oil do you use on those weather conditions?regards
Stares at Thermometer slams into mountain peak
Sancho...everything ok in Russia????? Waiting for update for the EPIC Tour.....😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯
Can a helicopter go straight up when taking off or does it have to lean forward?
Yes, they can go any way when taking off
Thanks.
You want to get into ETL quickly to get fresh air into the blades. Straight up creates safety concerns in the event of an engine failure

As a new instructor how many hours do you get per student I know it's 100 to get a licence so 65hours per student? because 100 - solo hour
The requirement is 55 dual and 35 solo, the other 10 hours can go either way towards dual or solo. The total hour requirement is 100 hours.
Why no bear paws on skids?
We don't like to have them on for autorotations so we take them on and off. Some flights we get to spontaneously go to the mountains but don't put the bear paws on. We just make sure we don't lower the collective all the way.
What is the max weight of a pilot for the cabri
AC DP there is none other than not exceeding your max gross weight.
First comment!!!
The views are worth the danger
