Thank you for uploading!! I cry tears of joy watching this masterpiece!! I interpret this video as it’s our ancestors watching over us. Our loved ones prepare for our transition. (Blue yellow Kiddie pool ie: living on earth/under water) As we return to dust we become rooted as a tree on Earth. Just my interpretation or rather what my ancestors have shown me 🥰🙏🏽✨
Such an exceptional song and visual for this track. The metaphors and imagery are really immense - to me this means that you can exist in every moment in time without realizing your dreams coming true. If you are stagnant and have your roots solely placed into one setting, it can overwhelm you. Your dreams can start to become yearning to travel back in time, to not deal with the hardships you didn't know would come with age, dreams to become innocent and relive your memories. Instead of actually wanting to move forward towards the unknown, you become your own stagnation, you are rooted in a space without time or consequences or rules. I might be getting this all wrong, but from my own experiences growing up and also the video, this is as close as I can come to understanding what Solange was piecing together.
The visuals are captivating here. Still I must B trying too hard to capture the meaning of this song... becuz it yet escapes me. Except that sumtimez our dream fly... unfulfilled. And THAT is just painful to rest in too comfortably... especially seeing that this song mostly permits me a calm energy, so I feel I must B missing sumin'
Video shot in 3rd Ward/MacGregor/Riverside Terrace neighborhood of Houston, TX. Black folks with big old houses. Love this part of town. The whole album is a love letter to this part of Houston.
