    In this audio commentary, Stephen Broomer looks at the 1907 burlesque comedy Le cochon danseur, or, The Dancing Pig. The Dancing Pig has haunted many dreams in recent years thanks to the spread of it through the Internet, where it's presented as a 'creepy' old movie, like the stuff of a diminutive 'creepypasta' ("but then, who was phone?"). The truth of the film is more fascinating than one can dream up, and the world that it belonged to didn't see the realistic anthropomorphism as creepy, but the stuff of fantasy and fairytale (and social critique). The Dancing Pig might more accurately be related to its contemporary, The Wind in the Willows, in which an anthropomorphic cast reflects human frailties...
