- When his grandmother dies a man learns the fate of his late father as well as the fortune that went missing when he disappeared.
The CBS Mystery Theater (a.k.a. Radio Mystery Theater and Mystery Theater, sometimes abbreviated as CBSRMT) is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed.
The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows like The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by host E. G. Marshall who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre (in a manner similar to that of "The Man in Black" on yet another old time radio program, Suspense). Again, listening to these broadcasts takes me back to a simpler time in America. Thank you!
That's code for having the privilege to not have to care about what's going on around you.
Well said..✌
Not really a simpler time. CBSRMT made its debut at the height of the Watergate furor, which threatened to destroy the people's confidence in the American system of government. Pretty similar to what went on just a year ago.
Indeed. Very relaxing.
Goodnight from Cheshire England.
Goodnight from Derby, England x
I love the old radio dramas. 📻 I love the scenery. To beautiful not to see all of it. Reminds me of riding the old Shay trains In WV in the fall.
Thank you. Radio Drama is worthy of being rediscovered by younger generations. You have made CBSRMT available to them.
Good tale. Listened on February 26, 2022. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Enjoying on 01.28.22

Question for the audience, in your time what technology where you most amazed of as it evolved?
Military weapons and warfare. Early 1900’s to present . They’re worlds apart. Good question to ask! 👍
Electronics, smart phones, smart watches and computer technology for me. It’s amazing how we have so much immediate information at our finger tips.
It was the microwave oven in the mid 70’s and a remote control for a TV in the early 80’s for me.
Could not believe how fast you could cook food (in minutes) and you could turn a channel on a TV set without having to get out of your chair every time!
The advent of cassette
VCR for me. Could not believe you could record something and watch it later. I was now able to go to work and watch it later and watch it faster and skip the commercials.
When was this originally written? Did the original writer sell the rights? This is pretty much plagerism.
Are you talking about the UA-cam channel? It’s an old radio broadcast from the 70s, it has no hope of making any money in 2022. People who upload these radio mystery theatres are doing a service by keeping them around and not becoming a forgotten piece of media everyone has forgotten about.
@@neopiafaerie6114 I wonder if they mean the story was plagiarized?? Maybe that's why they ask about the year of origin & rights to the story?! If they mean the re-broadcasting on here & elsewhere then your absolutely right!! I can't remember ever seeing a UA-cam added commercial during one of these!! No commercial, no money lol.
