srsly thank you for this - I played yesterday 1st time and I made so many mistakes I can berly believe it :D So good to have a tutorial like this one. Great job!
You played a lot of different cards for variety and did a lot of defending with Allies, which brings a lot of questions to new players like me. Honestly I watched the whole thing without skipping and I'm so glad I did! Thank you so much for making this video 3 years after the release of the game. Most videos are older and don't get all the rules right. I got a question too, can a Hero Defend on behalf of another?
Thanks for this, really good video, I have played marvel champions for a while but only solo and apparently I still messed up quite a few rules the few times i played multiplayer. If you have time to do a bigger game like this with different heroes and a big villain to see more quirks that'd be fantastic.
I just re-watched this portion and I'm not sure what you mean. He plays "Make the Call" and uses the Genius card to pay for Maria Hill (which is in the discards). This hand of cards is Captain Marvel's hand. He does a switch off Camera just before this, but doesn't mention it. That may be your confusion. If you look prior to this Spider-man's cards are Red (and yellow aspect cards), and Captain Marvel's cards are a blue/red (with a yellow stripe), (and blue aspect cards, such as Make the call). He pays for Maria Hill and places "Make the Call" and "Genius" back into the discards that he's holding, and places them back beside Captain Marvel. Then Draws a card for Spider-man (Jessica Jones).
When you flip an encounter card at the end of the villain phase, the Minion will only attack if it has the "QuickStrike" keyword on it. However, if during the villain attack portion of the the villain turn, a minion comes into play somehow, that minion will attack, because it's the part of the phase where Minions attack the players. If that minion has "quickstrike" it attacks twice, one for Quickstrike, and one because it's the villain/minion attack portion of the game. But if it's just during the "Reveal encounter card", then no, they don't attack unless they have that keyword.
Great video as I am late to the game, just started playing. Always learning something new. Love the hero interactions. I watch many of your videos and this one was a great one for me. One question, excelleration tokens,. When I play two handed, is it an extra threat for each player or just one extra token? I have been playing one for each player. Thanks again.
Welcome to the game! Hope you’re enjoying it! It is one extra threat total, so if you’re playing a two player game and there is one acceleration token the threat placed on the scheme each round will be 3!
Hello. @27 minutes you call on Captain Marvel to perform an action during Spiderman's turn. She plays the Helicarrier but you don't exhaust it, even though it says that you have to exhaust it to perform the action. Then on Captain Marvel's turn, she uses the Helicarrier and exhausts it this time. Would you be willing to clarify this rule? Do you not have to exhaust if you perform an action during another players' turn? Thanks.
This was a great how to play video.. maybe done a little faster than some others I've seen but I could still understand and my intention with the game is to be more solo player.. don't really have anyone to play with and thought two handed would be too overwhelming.. and it is a bit, but your experience and explaining makes it seem alot smoother than I expected. I have two questions, one, The first player of the turn alternates per round so does that mean when a card says first player, that means for the round? I assume so... Secondly, why wasn't Black Cat allowed to attack Rhino at the end there? Thanks.. I'm 95% getting the game after Christmas... and I'm pretty excited Matt.
So sorry I missed this! Hopefully you found your answers, but if not here you go: That is correct, the card refers to the first player that round Black cat could not attack because there was a guard minion engaged with the player who controlled her. Hopefully you got the game and are enjoying it!
Just played my first 2 games with this video as a companion, this was super helpful. A couple of things I had to look up: When you are confused can you still thwart using other cards? When you encounter shadow of the past for a second time, do you surge or do you have to play the nemesis cards again? If a hero other than captain marvel gets Yon-roggs treason, does it apply to them or cpt Marvel?
Hey! Glad it was helpful! Just in case you didnt find the answers: You cannot thwart using events or upgrades, however allies and supports can still remove threat Shadows of the past surges if the nemesis does not enter play (do not go hunting for it again) It would apply to the hero who drew the card! Hope this helps!
Another scenario I ran into, I drew Stampede from Rhino as my encounter card. Do I get to defend if my hero is ready or do I just take the damage resulting from the attack?
This helped me so much and im just having such a good time as of late and starting to build decks now. Do you think you'll do a arkham horror one like this too? or do you have one already?
@@NelsonAllOverCards question! Does a minion attack/scheme the same turn it is played/revealed when it engages with you. Pt2. Are all minions engaged with you as soon as they are revealed?
@@jeremybr2714 1) it depends! If it is revealed as an encounter card, no. But if it’s before or during the minion activation part of the villain phase then yes. This is fairly rare, but Ultron’s forced response is a good example when you would get a minion that would then attack you 2) yep!
Major problem….@59:22 you over annunciate 😅 Great play-through, will be sharing with friends before they sit down to hear clumsily stumble through explaining the game.
Great video! Is the 'spend' energy resource for cpt marvel the same as when other cards tell you to discard or does spend mean you must use the card as part of paying for an event/ally/ upgrade etc?
It means that you need to spend the resource to activate the ability, that could be from a card in your hand with the energy resource, or it could be from a resource generator (like a quincarrier) on the table - hope that helps!
I have a question, do you have to declare if you are blocking with an ally/hero before the boost card is revealed or can you wait to see how much the attack will be boosted by first?

Wouldn't the excess damage from charge, go to the hero the ally is defending, instead of the hero the ally originates from? It would make more sense.
