Hello Paul - greetings from Poland.
If it wasn't for you, I'm sure none of your subscribers would have known anything about this incredible railway. What a find. Children aged between 7 and 13 run the railway themselves, with lots of help frpm teachers and supporters of the Trust which operate the railway now. Brilliant video - thanks so much for this real gem!

      Thank you Michael!
      Glad you enjoyed it.
It really is an amazing little railway - with a real sense of purpose - so glad that it has survived.
      Take care,
      Paul

A privileged schooling. And, the beautiful Malvern's on their doorstep. Very interesting - been through Colwall on train but never spotted this on the map. Thank you.

Thank you Malcolm! Yes, a wonderful idea by the original headteacher to set this up.
      A brilliant practical academic resource.
      Cheers,
      Paul

What a great looking railway. Such a shame they don't have open days with the engines running.
Never knew of this miniature gem. Thanks for the video

      Thank you!
I don't think it is well known at all - I have never seen it featured in the Heritage railway magazines and websites before.
Yes, it would be nice if they do have an open day, but its main purpose is one of education and not entertainment, I guess, and I think it would take a lot of organising for a relatively small school, with the likes of insurance and parking.
      Thanks again,
      Paul

That's the magic of maps, I'm sure your eyes went out on stalks when you saw the words "miniature railway." What an amazing thing for the pupils (nothing to do with your eyes) to work on.

      Thank you Faith!
Yes, I was surprised to see it there, as I had not heard of a railway there, however, there are a few other private railways in Herefordshire.
Such a wonderful way to learn about engineering, mathematics and much else besides.
      Take care,
      Paul

What an unexpected ‘find’! It’s refreshing to find a school with different ideas about extracurricular activities- especially practicing animal husbandry & of course railway engineering. Thanks Paul!

      Thank you Diana!
Yes, I would have loved to have gone to school here - the focus is on the practical as well as classroom academic - one of the lessons was taking place on the football field too (I don't think it was about football!).
      Take care,
      Paul

Colwall was also the home of Malvern mineral water springs and the schweppes factory. caroline

Hi Caroline, yes, I always found it odd that a big 'corporate' (later part of Coca-Cola, I think) started marketing the wonderful water from the Malvern Hills in 1929. It was bottled by local families for sale in local shops before that. I think it finished a few years ago.
The Malvern Hills is my favourite location of the entire wider Westcountry, although I do have a few other personal favouites, like Lansallos Beach in Cornwall.
      Thanks for commenting.
      Cheers,
      Paul

What a discovery ! I thought I knew that area pretty well but I've never spotted this. Brilliant piece of work. I wish my school had had something similar, although a few of us spent many a happy hour of school time helping the English master build a yacht instead of cross country running...

I really don't think it is that well known at all - even in heritage railway circles. Only by chance (I was actually future route planning a walk on the Malvern Hills) that I spotted it on the map.
      Thanks again,
      Paul

I had no idea it existed Paul, what a wonderful find. I might have paid more attention if my school was like that. Thanks for the visit. Ron

I had no idea either, until I spotted it on the map when planning my next walk on the Malvern Hills Ron!
Fairly close by to you and me, but I'd never heard of it. I was amazed when I found out it is inside the school there - beautiful setting too.
      Yes, same!
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

Such a shame the railway wasn't working.

Thanks Alice - yes, they don't run open days as they aren't a heritage railway but an academic resource and aren't geared up for visitors (there is no car parking nearby and there are residential streets with double yellow lines) .
I guess you could try and find when they are using it, but then you run into issues with filming and privacy with regard to pupils.
However the Light Railway Society did manage to get the necessary permissions and insurance to film it on this occasion:
