It's a shame that there always has to be a 2.0. And like most 2.0s they fail to repeat the formula. As you said it's just another pen. Just a slightly hyped up Sarasa. Not unique in my opinion like the Blen 1.0.
I just received a first gen preowned Blen. (How I obtain most pens) I like it. I looked inside and it has a Pilot refill. Another pen I just discovered is the Sheaffer VFM ballpoint. I am in love with that.
The addition of Blen U makes one forget the horrible clip of the original Blen , which secures only to something the width of a collar on a winter jacket ( that's a bit exaggerated)... plus, for a pen that is now supposedly now "vibration free", it's loose as a goose..integrating the clip and the retract mechanism to THEIR stated expectations is easier said than done. However, despite these imperfections, I like the Blen, no doubt will purchase the U, but much prefer the ONE...totally vibration free and the wire clip.
The "U" is for "usability"! Been waiting for your thoughts on the BLen U since Zebra's press release back in July. I purchased a few of these but ended up putting the SY ink (which I think is far better than the previous NC ink) in my standard bLen bodies haha.
@@roblox-vo2dk I found the NC-0.5 refill pretty bad. The black is very faded and every refill I've tried also has this weird characteristic where you get very fine rivers of ink that almost look like little spider webs coming off the core line. I've tried wildly different writing angles and cleaning the tip with IPA and I still see the same issue.

Am I the only person a little bit perplexed as to why they didn't call this the 'Blen Clip'. Especially since they have a 'Sarasa Clip' pen, as part of the Sarasa gel range (which also has a sprung clip). I mean, it's their invention, so they can call it what they want. It's one of those 'if I ruled the world..' thoughts. But it would also serve to further differentiate this 'Blen U' from the 'Blen', a kind of design icon of a pen, and one that this one only has a couple of things in common with but isn't, really, very much like. I know they probably don't want to 'differentiate' it from the popularity and success of the Blen. They obviously want to closer associate this with it, with their choice of name. But it doesn't make much sense to me, for such an, obviously, different looking pen. 'Blen Clip', I could have 100% understood, considering the existence and naming of the Sarasa and the 'Sarasa Clip'. There were probably too many cooks sitting around the boardroom table, heh.
I would have much preferred a gel Blen over the changes here.

I have the EQ 1.0 refill in my Blen so haven’t moved tot the SY but it is an upgrade from the original yes.
@@unsharpen I don't think I've used the EQ refills before. How do you think the SY performs compares to the EQ?

EQ is a nicer, but more classic style ballpoint. It goes up to 1.0mm
Not thrilled with the clip. It'd be better suited as part of the sarasa family.
