The concept I'm working with is that of a legal scholar. A Vizier who works "freelance" to find loopholes and justifications for their actions in camarilla laws, local laws, traditions etc. - without hurting their own clan ofc. They would know how to defend themselves, but that wouldn't be the main focus. That would somewhat play into the judge theme, as they would be able to manipulate the repercussions of other kindreds' actions. I would make them schismatic, while still following the laws of haqim (at least in spirit), and aspire to follow his examples and teachings. Tld:r; legal scholar manipulating kindred justice system while trying to stick to clan/caste values
My favorite clan as a teen,a concept that's simple, but I've added some elements from the Cruise Mummy film or rather, my rewrite of that script. An American soldier deployed to the Middle East who's more interested in desert adventure then anything else. Cons their way into exploring some Haquim ruins and meets a Vizir who finds them rakish in their mortal impulses. Charm and adventure finally paying off too well,they get embraced and become a warrior in training. Outsider and out of their depth,intended to protect their sire but not expected to last long. "You will turn to ash one night,so that I do not. But prior evenings will have their pleasures. It is a sweet doom,a most enviable end".
I have a friend who is playing as a Banu Haquim. The concept they went with was that their character used to be an officer before being turned. Now she uses her knowledge and skills to capture wanted kindreds or kill people that the Camerilla wants gone. This clan is pretty scary 😄👍
That’s a great concept! Specially because it allows for character development with their former human ties and touchstones as well as with their kindred allies. Is this in a game where the Banu Haquim are members of the Camarilla already? Thanks for this concept!
@@CarlosPhantoAlonso lol their character is very interesting and deadly. And yeah in our game the Banu have joined the Camerilla. I can't wait for you guys to talk about the Ministry 🐍
No ideas as yet but am in the process of trying to set up a Chronicle, so I'll get back to you on that front if any of my PCs or SPCs end up as Banu Haqim. Just wanted to say: At 7:54 - Now I know, I've got to -- Run away, I've got to -- Get away --
I want to play an Assamite Anarch. I assume Assemite Anarchs are former Sabbat, so I call them the Unconquered. They tend to haven communally with Gargoyles, Telyavs and members of House Ipsissimus. They are bikers and thugs but harken back to the Clans role as judges in a similar manner as violent Brujah who dream of Carthage.
So. I have made a Banu Haqim for my Chronicle (first time playing Vampire the Masquerade). I went with the Blood Leech predator type and for my Disciplines I went Celerity and Obfuscate. Mine is the only offensive Kindred of our Coterie, the others mostly focusing on things like running away or Dominating the enemy into walking away from combat (literally happened session 1). I need advice on how to play her to be as efficient as possible. So far I’ve Unseen Passage and Silence of Death from Obfuscate. Celerity I’ve taken Rapid Reflexes, Fleetness, and Blink. I also have A Taste for Blood and Blood Walk for information gathering. I’ve 3 Str, 4 Dex, 2 Sta, 3 Chr, 3 Mani, 2 Comp, 2 Int, 2 Wits, 1 Resolve. For my skills I have 4 Stealth with a against Kindred specialty, 3 Athletics, 3 Melee, 3 Subterfuge, 2 Firearms, 2 Etiquette, 2 Awareness, 1 Craft, 1 Intimidation, 1 Investigation. So far she has performed admirably, taking zero damage in the whole fight and then using Blink to close the distance on enemies and strike at them, killing 2 and heavily wounding a 3rd. But from what you’re saying I’m playing her wrong. Please help.
Thanks for sharing your character with us. The Blood Leech Predator type is very fitting for a Banu Haqim. It looks like a well rounded set of disciplines and skills, especially for a combat oriented vampire. So we don't think that you're playing your character wrong. What isn't clear from what you said is who they are. We have a sense of what they can do but not of the character's personality. Who are they? What do they stand for? What are their beliefs? Remember, she was a person before being embraced and that defines a lot more of your character than her stats. It may be you already have the answers to all of these questions, in which case, great! If not, it's worth thinking about them as ways to round out the character.
Blood on the Tamesis so. Backstory is that she used to be a soldier in WW2 and her squad stopped by a small village to rest before heading to their next destination. While they were resting the villagers attacked and killed all but her and 1 squadmate, in which she exacted revenge by killing all of them. She then went AWOL and picked up the Assassin lifestyle. One of her targets happened to be a Banu Haqim vampire whom she failed to assassinate, but held her own as much as any human could against a much more powerful vampire. So he extended an offer to improve her capabilities or he could kill her. So she accepted. She spent many years working for the Black Hand before deserting they for reasons only known to her. She picked up her lone assassin lifestyle once more, going by the name Reap for “you reap what you sow” and for the fact her weapon of choice was a hand scythe. She came in contact with the Coterie because an elder named Atticus hired her to act as a bodyguard for his Childe Markus, as none of Markus’ coterie were all that strong in a fight and they needed some muscle. So she joined them for quite the hefty price. How she acts is different based on who she talks with. With one Touchstone (her Contact) she acts like a cold-blooded professional murderer. With the coterie she keeps much close to her chest but is overall very friendly and even flirtatious with Markus as she pretends to be a Toreador.
I got literally no Banu Haqim concept, because in the end it is basically all about killing (almost without a reason and kinda teflon like) and usually one upping other clans in the niche. Whether it is being considerably more deadly and stronger than Brujah or outsneaking Nosferatu @.@
Perhaps it didn't come across as we expected in this video but since the Banu Haqim are the most numerous and important clan in the Ashira, they tend to take on the roles of leaders, judges, and spiritual guides (a mix between the Ventrue, Brujah, and Ministry roles in Anarch/Camarilla cities). We do believe that the whole 'kit' of the Banu Haqim focuses more strongly on the warrior/judge aspect of the clan, but there are other castes as well, such as the social vizier or the more mystical sorcerer castes. A good idea to help differentiate them could be the use of bespoke loresheets, in a similar manner as the Hecate did with their bloodlines (which we talked about in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/gyQsCOIy_RE/v-deo.html)

Thanks. This comment sent one of us in the direction of Marilyn Manson and the other in the direction of Soft Cell.

I totally missed out on that video ^^;
Which might be because either my YT subscriptions betrayed me or I am kind of pancy about my favorite clan ^.^
