The Legion Bridge is the seventh bridge in Prague on Vltava. It stands on the site of the original chain bridge named after Emperor Francis I. It joins Shooter's Island and the Lesser Quarter. On the initiative of the entrepreneur Vojtěch Lanna, it was built between 1898 and 1901 by the architect and engineer Anthony Balšánek and Jiri Soukup. In 1901, it was opened in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I, after whom it carried its first name. After World War I, it was given today's name - the Legion Bridge. During World War II, the occupation was renamed again after Bedřich Smetana. In 1960, the Velvet Revolution was called the First of May Bridge. The bridge was built in the architectural style of neo-Art Nouveau.

Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava River in Prague, Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV and finished in the early 15th century. The bridge replaced the old Judith Bridge, built in 1158-1172 and severely damaged by a flood in 1342. This new bridge was initially called Stone Bridge (Kamenný most) or Prague Bridge (Pražský most) but has been referred to as "Charles Bridge" since 1870. The bridge is 516 meters (1,693 ft) long and nearly 10 meters (33 ft) wide. Following the example of the Stone Bridge in Regensburg, it was built as a bow bridge with 16 arches shielded by ice guards. It is protected by three bridge towers, two on the Lesser Quarter side (including the Malá Strana Bridge Tower) and one on the Old Town side, the Old Town Bridge Tower. The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, mostly baroque-style, originally erected around 1700; all have been replaced by replicas. Charles Bridge has suffered several disasters and witnessed many historical events. Czech legend has it that construction began on Charles Bridge at 5:31 am on 9 July 1357, with the first stone being laid by Charles IV himself. This time was crucial to the Holy Roman Emperor because he firmly believed in numerology and felt that this specific time, which formed a palindrome (1357 9/7 5:31), was a numerical bridge and would imbue Charles Bridge with additional strength. The bridge was completed 45 years later, in 1402.

Malá Strana (Lesser Town) is a district of Prague and one of its most historic neighbourhoods. ​It is on Vltava's left (west) bank, on the slopes just below Prague Castle. The name distinguishes it from the more prominent districts of Prague on the right bank, with which it is linked by the Charles Bridge. Initially, when it was founded in 1257, the district was called the New Town beneath Prague Castle (Czech: Nové Město pod Pražským Hradem). When Charles IV founded the New Town of Prague in 1348, Malá Strana was renamed the Lesser Town of Prague (Czech: Menší Město pražské). In 1419-1420, the Malá Strana was burnt down by Hussites. In 1541, a fire severely damaged the town and killed fifty people. After this fire, the city was rebuilt in the Renaissance style, and many palaces of nobility were built there.
