    DK, long time listenier here. I partially agree with this assessment, however, I am not sure Khan was totally at fault. If I'm Brandon Aiyuk or Devante Adams, I wouldn't come to Pittsburgh to be perfectly honest and I think the players had a lot to do with the situation that transpired in Pittsburgh. I honestly believe Khan tried to get these guys. My main concern with this team is the coaching decisions. Not playing Roman Wilson when they desperately needed a WR while he was a full participant in practice the last month of the season was coaching. Playing nickel defense most of the time against big formations was coaching. Not blitzing EVER was coaching. Being 10-3 and fixing what wasn't broken by replacing Bishop with Sutton then subsequently going 0-5 was coaching, only to bring Bishop back and resulting in an INT. Running Najee vs Warren was coaching. Not adjusting to Baltimore until 20 minutes remaining was coaching. Punting the ball with 6 minutes remaining down 3 scores was coaching. Guess what DK? We are running it all back in 2025! Are you as excited as I am? Lol

      Well said across the board-yeah, I have no idea what they have in Wilson but he was supposed to be the other receiving threat that was intended on mitigating the Diontae trade. I can’t hold that against the GM… supposedly they had a deal for Kirk before his injury near the deadline.
      But it’s all the other obvious coaching issues you pointed out that plague this team

      This perfectly sums up where we find ourselves. Why change? Everything is working and we should all be grateful for the winning seasons and shut up. Pittsburgh fans are crazy and entitled, or “fat and sassy” if you prefer. What do we know?

      @@ronjarrah9516 you hit it on the head.
      I’d add these.
      Not using Williams even though he was making splash with limited snaps is coaching.
      Putting your $20M “star” safety 30 yards deep and making him a non-factor all year is coaching.
      Making zero adjustments to free up TJ when teams adjusted to double and triple team him down the stretch is coaching.
      Not utilizing fields more after Russ devolved the offense into throw a deep prayer or throw a check down is coaching.
      The “standard” ain’t what it used to be.

  • @one80srocker89
    @one80srocker89 2 дні тому +7

    They went and got Williams and we almost never saw him.
    Someone wanna explain that?
    Look at the 95 Steelers receiving core. They used what they had. They too were a running team and a ball control offense. But they used alot of timing routes and utilized a passing game. This team just doesn’t have a passing game. Anyone wanna run a slant route over the middle?
    And what we’ve been seeing in these recent years is an inability for the receivers to get separation.
    Of course their product starts at the very top. How are the Rooneys seeing their product? They’re sitting in a multi-billion dollar business. But the fans see a stale product and Steelers fans can be very fair-weather. Don’t think that they won’t dump their tickets. They were dumping them in the parking lot in 2005 when they lost the home game to the Bengals and lost the division. Yet we win the Super Bowl that year and went 15-1 the year before.
    Regardless of the players, the results keep looking the same. Even with Ben, the ship went down the same way. With AB, with Bryant, with Juju. They lost games to very bad teams over 10 years ago just like we saw this year and last year. And those teams like in 2014 were far superior to these recent teams.

      Tomlin won't hire an OC with a brain. He wants all the attention and control and power. It's not on AS, though, IMHO, he is underqualified, that's exactly why he's there. He can't and won't stand up to Tomlin. Not if he wants a job.

  • @craigjacobs6249
    @craigjacobs6249 2 дні тому +15

    I keep hearing about this 2nd WR..Go look at the Commanders #2, go look at Buffalos #2, and go find me the Ravens #2. The Steelers wanted to run the ball. Van Jefferson was on the field as they would run 80% of the time..sounds predictable. There were mistakes but can we stop with this #2. BTW, Amari Cooper was a bust in trade for Buffalo. Mike Williams lsck of usage was troubling

    • @craigwilliams3721
      @craigwilliams3721 2 дні тому

      Fine. Run the ball then. Draft bad ass offensive linemen. Coach them up. Trade for Derrick Henry. Obviously Henry was on the block. Did the Steelers make a run at him? Obviously not. They don't know what they're doing. They don't know what or who they wanna be. If they were serious about being a "running" team, they'd hire the best offensive line coach money could buy, and let him do his job !!!!!! Let him draft the guys he wants who fit his system. It's not that difficult. It really isn't. They found Josh Allen at Wyoming, of all places. If you can play, if you can pancake dudes on a regular basis, you're gonna make a roster. But Tomlin has no idea of what is going on, let alone finding talent, so ya get what ya get.

      This team needs a wr 2. Whether you wanna be a running team or not. There will be days where the run game is not gonna work for you, and you gotta throw the ball and if your wr room is ass like ours was this year, you see the result. Hell look at the chargers. They were a good running team but had no reliable wrs outside of ladd. Wr2 matters alot

    • @craigwilliams3721
      @craigwilliams3721 День тому

      @@steelkingdom90 That line is crap. Look what the Eagles' D line did against them. Almost every one of them plays out of position, they keep Dan Moore when Jones shoulda been starting. So he gets beat, that's his NATURAL position. They are nowhere near physical enough to be considered elite. Of course, AS and MT don't know, or won't, use Warren, he's their most effective back, but again, MT just has to be RIGHT when it comes to HIS decision to draft the over rated Najee Harrison. Tomlin wouldn't know a good O lineman if he got run over by one at the Senior combine. And he surely will not let anyone draft one, let alone coach them. Tomlin is a disgrace. Khan is a lackey, and AR2 doesn't care.

    Oh so now it’s Omar Khan on the hot seat? 😂You guys are worse than some of the fan base with the over emotional takes. You all are crybabies. Didn’t he use a 3rd rounder on Roman Wilson? Not his fault, dude was injured the entire season. Didn’t he go all out to try and acquire Brandan Auyak? Dude was just driving up the price. Was a waste of time pursuing him. Didn’t he try to acquire DeVante Adams, but dude wanted to play with his boy Aaron Rodgers in NY? So he sort of settled on Mike Williams. The OC didn’t game plan to get him the ball enough, but somehow that’s Omar Khan’s fault too, and not the HC & OC? So you’re saying this because you’re upset that Khan couldn’t convince the ownership to fire the entire coaching staff? Because that’s who the culprits really are. Khan has done a pretty good job being aggressive trying to make moves to improve the team. And I’m sure he’ll shine in free agency and the draft to get some more pieces. So can we stop crying and looking for someone to blame already? The season is done. Looking ahead to 2026. It’s Super Bowl or Bust….Or Brian Flores becoming the next HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    My observation, from Benton to Fields to Pickens… the list goes on and on. The Steelers hold guys back early in their careers to sign that second contract on the cheap. You know what, DK, you are really indicting the Steelers coaching staff. You have said that Minkah plays in deep, deep CF this being used incorrectly. You said that Mike Williams wasn’t thrown the ball despite catching it when it was. You just said that Benton is being improperly utilized in his role on the defensive line. You said TJ Watt isn’t moved around enough. I think you said that they don’t blitz enough, that Freiermuth isn’t used in the passing game enough, and are way too predictable on offense, especially on first down (though those could have been your DK Sports buddy Matt Williamson). I would add that receivers aren’t schemed open in this offense, which is desperately needed when you have such inadequate talent. And for all of those reasons and many more, we fans want wholesale change. We want a new slate of coaches that change the entire way of playing football in Pgh. Why didn’t we get a single coaching replacement? We are destined for another Groundhog Day season and we know it.

    I'd like to ask when Omar should have got a WR. The last two drafts he has picked up a LT and RT in the first, which everyone would agree is a top priority. He then picked up a DL, C and CB who have all been decent players. He also grabbed a 2nd round WR in Wilson who unfortunately was injured this year.
    Now, I'm not over the cap situation, but did the team have the resources to get a top tier WR in 2023 ans 2024? Who were the receivers available? Aiyuk was always suggested as a player to get, but at $27 or $28 million per year, would he have been worth the headaches considering he didnt play all that well this season.

    It’s time to ditch this philosophy of building the trenches and just go out and get a bunch of playmakers

      They have to build the trenches because KC and Tomlin left it bare which is why this roster build is lagging behind... winning in the trenches is paramount is second only to QB in terms of importance.
      The OL are force multipliers--they provide a comfortable pocket for the QB, time for WR to get deeper into their routes and lanes for the RBs to run through. All skill players benefit from this.
      The DL gets after the QB and stuffs the run making teams one dimensional and easier to game plan for--it also mitigates shortcomings in the secondary since they don't have to cover as long and often see rushed errant throws coming their way.
      None of this means to not go after dynamic skill players--but don't dismiss the importance of the trenches.

    Good morning DK I’m a huge fan of the show. Feel free to get some rest at any given time football is going to be here by Man. today is Thursday lol and I’m pretty sure you meant to say Deshaun Elliott.
    In terms of J1Q, no disrespect, but Benton is not a high pick waste. He has a huge upside. Didn’t he have an interception this year? That’s not common for a defensive of lineman bro.
    In terms of Mike Williams usage. There’s two things I’d like to cite. There were three midseason wide receiver trades. Hopkins (who should be thanking the Titans for send him to KC, because he’s benefiting from them, they aren’t benefiting because of him) didn’t have many splash plays. Amari Cooper didn’t have much production w the Bills. And neither did Mike Williams with the Steelers. The second thing I wanna say is players particularly why receivers have to learn the playbook if they run the wrong route or they don’t have the chemistry established with the quarterback you risk a pick six. that’s probably why Roman Wilson didn’t see the field. Ask for Omar Khan. I’m gonna hold my opinion of him for the regular season. I have to see what he does with our roster. Rooney said we will probably have one to two big free agents so I’m gonna wait and see what they can get.

Secondly, the no.2 WR is the guy thats open because the no.1 doesnt take plays off and commands the respect of the opposing defense by drawing double, triple, or even the entire secondary to cover him. Thirdly theres alot of stupidity coming from Tomlin interfering with play calling. I tried telling everyone before the season that #11 is a #4 & playing him like a #2 would cause the offense to fail spectacularly eventually. The only move that would have made sense was the one for Christian Kirk or perhaps Cooper Kupp. But by bad luck Kirk had a season ending injury before the deal got done. Then the Rams reneged on Kupp. So Khan salvaged the situation by bringing in Mike Williams, yet the coaches made no effort to get him on the field. I blame the coaches more than I blame Khan.

    DK what happened last year has been going on for some time. Last years draft had great receiver talent in the first round. They passed on Brian Thomas who is a star. 10TD’s 87 receptions 1200 yards. Picked a bad knee smaller tackle who got hurt twice in a short time. The team has passed on positions when they were deep in the draft over and over to only have that need bite them in that year and then going into the next draft with lesser talent at the position like this year the wide receiver position is not great. Then they reach. Khan is a bean counter and new to what he is doing he follows Tomlin’s wants. Rooney has turned the team over to Tomlin he run things top to bottom and no one is going challenge him. This is why Willians did not play. 😢 Khan was not going to ask Tomlin to play him. Austin gets the grief for being a bad DC but we know its Tomlin’s calls on defense. Smith is handcuffed by Tomlin and the run run pass plan. Smith did not want Wilson he was happy with Fields. The team is done until Tomlin retires.
