We are currently going through another big craze with LSD... I can vouch for this personally. Due to many of the exact same points you mentioned in the video. The social and economical grasp between the younger generation and boomer generation have everything pretty messed up in our country. This was pre-pandemic, it's insane how easy it has become to find certain hallucinogenics reliably. We are in mass distrust and many at a loss of hope. History repeats itself.
Thank you for your comment. I don’t use LSD or any other drugs, so it’s very nice to hear from someone from first-hand experience. Either way, thank you for watching. It means a lot to me when people enjoy my work!
@@NotSenz The bulk of my current New Vegas and FO4 playthroughs were conceived during a series of once-a-week LSD trips, every Sunday night for a few weeks at a time, from late 2017 to mid 2020.
These videos are great. In case my profile picture didn't already give it away, I love Fallout. I listen to Fallout lore videos a lot and I've exhausted some of the bigger channels like Oxhorn. So it's nice to see another youtuber who does Fallout lore videos, especially ones that break down the information on specific things like the individual drugs in the Fallout universe. Just when I thought I knew everything in the Fallout universe but still hungry to learn more, your videos come along and teach me things I didn't already know, even after a decade of being so in love with this game. Keep it up, bro. Can't wait to see more from you
Actually chem use was in the military. in the DLC for Fallout 3, operation anchorage, Psycho is one of the only chems available during the training simulation. Even a doctor explaining its use in military testing and providing addiction treatment for the player between missions. I think we could assume other chems were widely used as well to deal with issues of pain, stress, and combat.
@@NotSenz for sure. I’d say it’s similar to WW1 and 2 where soldiers were given meth and other drugs to ignore fear and fight harder. Similar things done in later wars as well. So I’d say it’s pretty similar to that
So just gotta say you produce some really great content sir..all your vids are super insightful..I never would have thought the lore of chems being so interesting..major credit to you and your channel..keep doing what you are doing..
Very interesting video... but anyone who ever experienced psychedelics would know that those should never be seen as tools for escaping. If you drop a hit of lucy with the intention to "escape and chill" it's very likely that you're in for a rough time. Those chems aren't your afterhours booze or a blunt to calm you down after a stressful day. The only connection could be the name "daytripper" as acid can last for over 12 hours depending on dosage.
Agree 100%. If you have been escaping, it's likely to show you your life magnified, maybe even throw you into an introspective nightmare for a few hours.
You earned a new sub good sir. Tip of the fedora to you. I really enjoy these longer style lore videos that connect the fallout universe with our own with sources from irl and speculations and your opinion about comparisons and general going-ons in the fallout world
4:33 "chems where accepted by society" that's not just for fallout the case. i mean, depending on the time your looking at it's the same for us as well. back in the day it was common to have (now illegal) drugs in daily products. morphine as a sleep aid, cocaine was used in medicine for surgery, chewing gum and in beverages like Coke. the most ironic in my opinion, cocaine was used to cure morphine addictions and said cocaine would not be addictive as an benefit. tbh the way fallout if teling this, is't that outlandish/ far off. ^^
Good point. I was just trying to compare the Fallout universe to our universe today (in terms of acceptance of drug use), for context of how Day Tripper could have become so popular.
@@NotSenz i'm looking forward to it. ^^ i wouldn't be surprised if some of those have a very similar story behind them, as some of our known counter parts.
The thing about the Fallout universe is it is based on the idea that the conspiracy and all the bullshit claims were true in some capacity, or in this case, the results of MK-ULTRA yielded results. The point of that program was to create better soldiers after all, and more complicit populace. When you view Fallout through a real world modern lens a lot of what happens doesn't make sense, but when you view it through the lens of "conspiracies are true and some of the wu works" then it starts to make more sense. The fact that you can take a drink and cure radiation poisoning is very much a product of that made up horse crap that did happen. For instance, Dr. Pepper use to claim it could cure radiation poisoning. I mean it's why you see pre war food that you can eat still even 200 years later that old myth about packaged food (especially twinkies) that claimed they would last forever in their packaging. Fallout America accepting drugs more readily than real world America stems from that very conspiracy of population control as well as being able to control the minds and develop better soldiers in the end.
Honestly I don’t think Daytripper is LSD. It seems more like a cough medicine like Dextromorphan. As it’s usually sold as “daytime cold and cough” and is widely known to make a person trip.
Adding onto this, it’s mentioned as a “mild” hallucinogen, as opposed to LSD which is considered pretty powerful. Dextromorphan is also an anesthetic, which would explain the relaxed, laid back feeling and decreased strength.
Its interesting to me that yiu didnt realise the connection between 'Day Tripper' (chune btw) and LSD. Althlough the beetles admitting this is even more surprising to me since they adamantly denied that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is about LSD. As always, keep up the good content sir. And the rest of the guys and gals and non-binary pals, subscribe now :)
I resent your assumption that people have to be suffering to want to do drugs. This is equivocation. The assumption that what is the case for one thing of a larger type is true for all things of that type heedless of their differences. Depressants ie opiates and alcohol do have a numbing effect that is effective at reducing pain and can be used as a coping tool. However LSD and other psychadellics are not taken for this purpose as it would not be comforting. Quite the opposite. Psychedelics are taken when one is seeking pleasure. (and ideally when one is already in a comfortable life situation as life stress causes bad trips) You don't have to be in pain to seek pleasure. If your life is already comfortable additional pleasure just makes it better. Duh! The reason this is a harmful atitude is that when you assume that someone is doing something to cope you assume that that it has no merit outside of medicine. As an analogous scenario, imagine that people were only allowed to have sex in hospitals after filling out the paperwork to have a child and couldn't do it unless it was to have a child. Thats effectively what you get when you disregard the merit of pleasure for its own sake.

This Gen X'r approves. The 90s were rife with plentiful, dirt cheap LSD, and us Gen X kids were in for a pound.

Mmm new theory, The reason nuclear war broke out in fallout universe is because everyone was blasted on mind altering drugs.
