I think I've unconsciously developed a coping mechanism of drawing back, not being too attached to anyone because they could just up and leave. It's been hard. Especially with family. I understand why they have to leave , but it doesn't make it easier.
I honesty don't know why my friend sent this to me and I watched it cos it was an outburst of a lot of emotions for me .I miss my friends and family a whole lot
Now that was a piece of content I didnt know could get me "emosh". Especially the part where she wrote her classmate's name on a piece of paper....I see that got your eyes clouded too Well, these facts are now our reality. How to navigate it, I dont know! However, the most important thing is this; may we see soon in good health, joy, happiness, and with good news to share. And may the grass always be greener on whatever side of the divide we find ourselves.
The yoruba saying “Eniyan laso iyi mii” really does come to play. We underestimate the strength of the “Nigerian communal living” when we decide to “japa”; that dependability of people around you when you actually need it. Dealing with friends and family relocating is not easy for anyone involved. Being able to chat and face time is good, but it is not the same. Another friend will be leaving soon. My prayer partner and closets friend for that matter. I think I have already began to withdraw in preparation. And I do not have a lot of friends. Neither do I make friends easily.
