14 Days Solo Survival Camping in Rain and Snow - Building Warm Bushcraft Shelter in Winter

  • I completed the hardest and most tiring shelter of my life in 14 days. This shelter is a survival shelter for me. A place where I can escape and rest in any difficult situation. The stones were very heavy. Some of them were literally impossible to carry. For this reason, I smashed most of them with hammers and adzes and moved them. I didn't build the walls high because this is an earthquake area. There was already an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 here on February 6. My stone house was not damaged in the earthquake. Enjoy watching.

    i'm curious: why when making a stone wall, they're merely stacked that coated with clay afterwards? why not lay clay down with each stone like cement and bricks? any benefit to not doing that?

    • @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors
      @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello. The answer is simple. In fact, as you say, if we put mud on every stone, we will build a stronger building. But this requires a lot of time. When we build a shelter for a temporary stay in nature, we do not have this much time. After building the wall, it takes less time to cover the open areas with mud.

    • @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors
      @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors  8 місяців тому

      You are absolutely right. Actually, I experienced that danger. But I still acted stupid and went on with the job. The problem was with my tow truck. The sharp edge of the hammer was not suitable for breaking stones. The sharp side should be parallel to the handle of the hammer. Unfortunately, none of the stonemasons here use safety glasses.

    Unrealistic and unreliable

    • @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors
      @MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors  7 місяців тому

      Thank you for your comment. But it is both realistic and safe. This is not a normal house. A primitive shelter built just to spend certain times in nature. It is safe because it is built with stones. You will not be harmed by wild animals. It is safe because its walls are not high and indestructible. This shelter experienced two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.4 in February 2023 in Turkey. Many buildings were destroyed in the city I live in. But this shelter remains intact.
