I was able to do 2 weeks in Japan on a carry on! It sounds nerdy, but we had an itinerary and before the trip I looked up the places we were visiting, and created outfits based off what we were doing each day. I then laid out each outfit I had made and took a picture of it and added it onto the itinerary so that while I was in Japan I wouldn't have to plan out my outfits, they were already planned out before hand! It really helps if you plan your outfits before the trip so you can see if everything kind of "goes" together and so you can optimize your mixing and matching! Safe travels for anyone who is traveling this summer, and good luck packing!
highly recommend decanting skincare/toiletries into small containers for travel too! helps cut down space & also is handy bc you likely won't need a full size of anything anyway!
I went through the other London airport, Gatwick and they were also super strict with security. I thought I had all my liquids in the very own bag they give out in the airport. They still pulled my carry on aside to inspect it. Apparently mascara and any Vaseline (like the little lip one) need to be in the bag too. Then they threw away one of my bottles because the bottle was 109 ml and needs to be 100ml and under. I cried inside. Never been through such a strict airport before. But all for safety right.
No it’s not. In fact most airlines charge for checked bags. Southwest is only one that doesng charge a Checked bag and finding airlines that don’t charge for carry ons is also not as common now.
Megan A Megan A Well, I’m not sure who you’ve flown with but I have always had my carry on free of charge and I’m aware of checked baggage costing (that’s why I didn’t mention it).
I love packing light! It’s a challenge most of the time, but I have found if I bring a lot of stuff I usually don’t t wear half of it! Especially jewelry! Urh! Great video!
I can’t believe you were able to take so much on board with you. I recently travelled interstate in Australia, and they weighed my carry on luggage. It was just overnight, so it was about 7kg. I love the look of the bigger carry on by Away, but some airlines won’t allow that size so I’m nervous to buy it. I just had my Tweezerman brow scissors taken off my by security. I don’t know what I was thinking packing them, and I was so disappointed because they were so good. 🙁 I really hate it when they make you use the zip lock bags even though your bag is clear. Every airport is different...BUT it’s important they they keep us safe.
TSA approved bags are only limited to USA. I have travelled a lot and the only time I had to take out things was in US, never had a problem anywhere else. Plus most of the security rules where implied by US, so everyone has to go through that.
I meeeeean I made it through a total of 4 flights (2 with connecting) without a problem! And usually you can make it all the way to the gate and at that point they offer to check it for free if they think it’s going to be a super full plane
I usually go with a carry on and a large backpack. They have dimensions that you’re supposed to stick to that the airline usually has posted. It pretty much just has to be able to fit under the seat which is actually a pretty big space
I loved Ireland when we went! It is so beautiful and the people are so friendly! The Aran Islands was my favorite day trip from Galway! We also went to other cities in Europe, spending about a month in total abroad and I only packed one regular sized backpack and sometimes had an extra tote bag. (We did do laundry once in the middle of the trip!) The 3-1-1 rule is crucial! The liquids/gels/aerosols must be 3 oz or less and all fit into the 1 quart sized bag. It's tricky, but it can be done with travel sized and multi-use items. I'm glad you had a great time!
TSA is only in america so what is approved with them is not universally approved elsewhere. Most places in the EU its one ziplock bag per person with every liquid in it max 100mL
You definitely would never be able to bring those two in many places Europe - they both exceed measures. Companies like Ryanair and Easyjet are very strict. Sometimes you might find someone at boarding who turns a blind eye but normally, even when you can bring a personal item + carry-on, you are only supposed to place the carry-on in the overhead compartment. The personal item (purse or backpack) fits under the seat or you pay excess baggage and one of them gets thrown in the hold. Neither of those fit under the seat...haha. Kinda like someone overlooked the fact that your sister overpacked liquids, you got a bit lucky with the bags. Stanstead airport for example, is one of the strictest! Liquids especially (and yes they can make you shove stuff in their little plastic bags...t annoying!). So you didn’t really pack in a carry-on at all, you essentially brought two. Talk about overpacking. :p And yes, in some cases even your carry-on may be weighed and the price per extra kg is not nice. There are weight and size restrictions for a reason. As for makeup I just bring staples, and like you say, you end up not using much makeup when you’re entertained doing activities which is the most important anyway. :) for liquid medication if you get a prescription from a doctor to bring with you, it can exceed the 100ml rule.
You do know that TSA is only in American, right? So not surprising that in Ireland you had to remove the liquids and put it in their security's approved bag
Rachel Olach there’s tsa in ireland as you still have to go through US customs. every single airport goes by the same TSA type rules with the liquids bags and all...
Hey everybody! I know there was a lot packed in those 2 bags, BUT - it could have been lighter by decanting things in big glass jars (like foundation) into smaller containers! There are even vacuum pump jars (Amazon of course, they have everything)!
I just flew yesterday and I had to throw stuff #devastated #stufflost like my half empty Zaja face mist which I bought from Poland and I loved, a pair of jeans, old sneakers, shampoo, toothpaste, even my rice biscuits xD to meet the 20 kg rule for checked in 😢 My carry ons were a roller suitcase 54 cm long and personal bag 40 cms which just fit my laptop basically..
can i ask what airline you used? i'm flying on american airlines soon and i'm worried that my beis weekender might be too big to be considered a personal item along with a carry on suitcase :/
Overpacking has been my life-long struggle...🤦🏻♀️😆 great video. I too hate when they take away things at airports, sometimes they would even do it with tiny travel size liquids!! (Like God forbid you travel during some big international sports event or smth) Your airline is really liberal- they usually let you take 1 carry on item (not two actual bags) on board + a lady’s purse which doesn’t count as a carry on item but classified as a “personal item” or something. But it depends. Hey, they constantly update the rules, & it depends upon the airline & the country, always have to double check, such a pain😆 Thanks so much for posting an itinerary! What was your favorite food while in Ireland?
@@dora876 that's so interesting! I know it's mostly budget airlines that are likely to weigh, but almost everywhere in Asia and Europe that I've been will at least have scales and a limit. So are you only allowed a carry-on on these flights ? Or was this just to paCk light? I feel like both of these combined make a whole check in bag 🤔 maybe that would’ve saved some of the liquids. I’ve never traveled to Europe so I don’t really know. Great video.

I will move to south korea soon, and I will bring 2 big luggages + beis diaper bag as my tote bag with me. I just got the Beis Weekender. I’ll be taking it on it’s first trip soon! Does it fit under the seat of the plane? I tried asking the company, but never got an answer. Thanks!
xNICOLEx I doubt it will fit, unless it’s not full. It looks to be the size of s carry-on. You can check the dimensions for the allowed personal item in the company website, that should give you an idea of what the limits are. Whether or not you decide to test your luck is up to you but prepare to pay if it exceeds the limits.
Which airline did you fly with? I want to take the beis weekender as my carry on but I’m worried it’s going to be too big because the measurements exceed the limit for a carry on.
I was able to take this as my personal bag along with my carry on suitcase. However it was slightly too big to fit under the seat so I downsized to a different personal bag. I’d honestly recommend taking the Beis weekender as a carry on if you don’t want to use a suitcase.
omg!! I have the same set up/combo i have too!!!! I can't believe it! I'm also 5'0" and people working in the airport always have to question the size of my bag xD It just looks BIGGER cause i'm so SMALL haha
Very nicely done video and your canine is gorgeous. I love your style in clothing, and I adore that Beis bag. Im a little stunned how much you brought for just a little over a week. I have a bag very similar to the BEIS bag, that is all I would take for two weeks or longer, that and a crossbody bag. Sadly, thanks to a drunk driver, I live with a severe spine injury, so I can only take or lift a bag that is no more than 15 pounds. Its not always easy packing that light, but I do enjoy the freedom.

Great video, iam always over packing, 💟💟
Very nicely done video and your canine is gorgeous. I love your style in clothing, and I adore that Beis bag. Im a little stunned how much you brought for just a little over a week. I have a bag very similar to the BEIS bag, that is all I would take for two weeks or longer, that and a crossbody bag. Sadly, thanks to a drunk driver, I live with a severe spine injury, so I can only take or lift a bag that is no more than 15 pounds. Its not always easy packing that light, but I do enjoy the freedom.
Things like medications and breast milk are exempt from TSA rules… if they made you throw out so much you may have offended them
