Lot of people give it a bad rap but I've always liked the F9F-8 Cougar, the flight model change recently improved it a good little bit, but even before then this was a great fighter/fighter support platform. Also one of only four 8.3 jets to get guided missiles.
Ive been trying to find out which early jets get missiles, do you know which ones at 8.3 and 8.7 get missiles?

That kill on the Beagle at the beginning was impressive considering you didn't have a lock, and you had the sun in the background that the missile could have decoyed off on.
I‘m that german IL-28 you killed at the start lol. Meeting AIM-9B still suprises me.
Also the F9F really shreds.

is there a modification for this plane to fasten the lock? i just played my 2nd game on this plane and somehow the lock is not as fast as how it is on the start of the video
The 9b can only lock onto the rear of a plane because of the engine. And I’m pretty sure which plane it is you’re trying to lock also matters because different planes produce different amounts of heat.
Can't wait to use it in simulator battles and sneak behind people

not as good as the banshee in its matchmaker but in a downteir its an absolute monstrosity. In an upteir or at your rank basically everything outmaneuvers and is faster, but it still has a place as a devastating weapons platform if you sneak into the fight a bit later. People really arnt used to shaking the missiles, and even though they arnt amazing, if you know how and when to launch them they can be a death sentence, especially because nobody has any flares at all.

9b's are very easy to dodge
You just need to have eyes and remember that there are rockets on this br
Which i forgot one day while playing saab) Got 5 kills, out of ammo and 1 missile ready
But i decided to fly straight because i had speed lol

When it comes to War Thunder its not the vehicle its the player you just have to play them right

The f80 is pretty solid. Definitely one of the better jets at its BR
Only the first F-80A is worth it, the second one I suggest you skip because its BR is too high and your performance is kinda shit compared to other 7.7-8.7BR
