The beautiful thing is that once upon a time some Americans in that area were able to make something of value like Clinton engines - thanks for your comment!
I've come across two Clinton two-stroke engines up here in Canada. One is on my dad's chainsaw and the other was on a lawn mower. The lawn mower was built by Clemmer Industries of Waterloo, ON and had/has a cast aluminum deck and was traded in on a Lawnboy about twenty years ago.
Interesting. I have a Clinton Angler (runs good) I picked up several years ago (with shaft and prop - inboard fishing motor). It looks just like the model 700 (first produced 1946), except that it is only rated at 1.5 hp and has a built-in forward/neutral/reverse transmission. I last fired it up Friday. I don't know how common Clinton motors are any more... but if they're all as well built as this one is, there should be plenty more around!
Love your video but slow it down so we can read the captions. I have an old Clinton 700A that I did a cosmetic restoration on. Mechanically it was still perfect.
Some time in the future I'll see if I can do another video. I have a couple of Clintons, (there were a lot of them around in the late 1960s when I was a kid). Nice little engine IMHO, thanks for stopping by! 😊
In Australia I have an 1977 494 Clinton Engine still operational with brand new replacement Clear Oil Bath Air Cleaner fitted to Australian Made Howard Bullfinch Rotavator
@rudedogii You know it is simple but I have "rope starters" that are 80 years old and have not broken once yet so until the complex starters can do this I will not throw out my rope... Thanks for stopping by
Thats great! I really love this kind of stuff. I was born in 1962 and remember my dad wraping the rope on the lawn mower engine to make it start.

Krista A Martin That is when America could build just about anything Krista. Thanks for visiting my channel.
@FarMech22 I am in the southeast USA and I think the high humidity has rusted them all to dust over the years.
