As a Serb, I really hate those taxi scammers. They are embarrassing our country as the first impression a guest has, and I apologize for that. They should all be in jail for their scams.
Well, these taxi scammers are everywhere though in every country. Now I use Yandex Taxi 🚕

Great to see you in Serbia! You got scammed a bit by taxi, you can take airport bus it costs 300 dinars and can drop you off close to the hotel. Also buy multi day transport pass from kiosks, like 5 days or 30 days, is cheaper and you can go all over the city. Check out Zemun too. Maybe catch the quick train to Novi Sad (35 min) or Nish in the south on the bus is 3 hours. If you eat at Skadarlija historic district, is a tourist trap so is a bit expensive to eat there. Check out Walter chain, they have chevapi and other traditional food, is not expensive. I will write other tips if i think of it!

I thought I got scammed a little since I read the Russian chats about Serbia. But I got scammed a bit in Turkey too. At least it’s not the Russian taxi scam for foreigners when it’s like the price can be 10 times more haha

For me it’s expensive. In Russia would be 2-3 times cheaper for a taxi. But to be honest I’ve been told the gasoline in Serbia cost more than in Russia

Well, for me yes. Especially after Turkey. And also it's more expensive than Russia. Mcdonalds here for example cost like 50% more than in Russia (when we had Mcdonalds or now Vkusno i Tochka).

@@CrazyRussianSergey, it's probably best if you tried some local food and restaurants, or bought fresh produce to make your own food. It's cheaper than ordering, and better quality than fast food. Fast food chains aren't as popular here as in the USA, for example, where many families will have all their meals at. We have it when we want to "spoil ourselves" occasionally, and we also have local fast food, like pljeskavica, as an option. That difference in popularity often drives the prices high.

Hotel Yugoslavia was bombed by NATO in 1999 ,its in very bad condition ,not renovated for decades
To me it was fine. At least the floor where I lived in. But infrastructure around maybe a bit outdated.
Mcdonald's has local Serbian-style burgers that are extremely good. Also, recommend checking hotel Slavija if you want to return in time, and remember to try all the drinks from the minibar. Belgrade is one of the best cities I have ever been to. Night walks around the fortress drinking local craft beer. I'm really looking forward to more videos.

That taxi driver scammed you, there is no night and day shift. They are abusing situation on the airport since it's total mess because of construction.
Yes Ukrainian is much closer language to Serbian, many similar words, maybe the closest language outside ex-yugo area.
In Serbia "prizemlje (PR)" is ground level, and 1st floor is actually first floor upstairs.

That hotel was built more than 70 years ago and was probably never renovated. There are many other new hotels in Belgrade. "PR" in the elevator means "prizemlje" - ground floor. Hope you enjoy your stay in Serbia.

I didn’t know electric razors are unfamiliar with Russians. I have a couple of those but I still use the old fashioned razor method because I am so used to it. Nostalgia 😂.

I've learned to avoid taxis in general. They all try and rip you off. Take an Uber or the equivalent instead.
Yes. I use now. The thing is when you come to the airport without an internet. Maybe I could use wife though. Didn’t think about it. But still how to find a car then and so on if it’s not close to the airport like in Belgrade

50 euros from airport to city center at night, 35 during the day time.. I think you were scammed.. 😀 unless the airport is 100 km from Belgrad... Taxi from airport of Saint Petersburg to city center cost me 7 euros (500 rubles) in 2019 and in Sofia (Bulgaria) the same, 7 - 8 euros... and Serbia is not richer than Russia... If it is not a scam, then taxi prices are exagerately expensive in Serbia, more expensive than Spain or Italy, for example.
No, it's not, from the airport to the center there are two zones 😵💫the price in the first and second is different, and if it's a night drive, it's again a more expensive option by zone.
