It’s not just a drum solo, it’s a drum song titled ‘The Rhythm Method.’ Neil added new pieces throughout the years, hence the length. Every beat, every note, every precise strike was crafted by Neil & performed with perfection every single gig. Yes, you just witnessed true greatness!! RIP PROFESSOR🙏🏼
I was at the Rush 30th anniversary tour in 2004 when they came to Hartford, CT. I was in the 3rd row, about 20 feet from Geddy Lee. Awesome experience.
This dude wrote the band’s thoughtful lyrics also. Very smart man, he was nicknamed the Professor, rode a motorcycle around when on tour, wrote books about it and was so shy around adoring fans, he generally avoided them altogether. That kind of attention freaked him out. As soon as the last note was played, he’d get up and literally run to the van to be the first one out. He would talk to people if you didn’t make a big deal about meeting him. It simply weirded him out. These guys were also world famous for their sense of humor. You will start to see the inside jokes as you check out more. 3 very silly men. I was extremely fortunate to have lived in a city that was a Day One, RUSH Stronghold, San Antonio, TEXAS. Yes, the middle of TEXAS is RUSH county. They came here on almost every single tour from the very first one. I saw them live in concert 18 times over the decades. I got to see him develop his solo over the years. One of the very best live bands you could ever see. Clean, tight and flawless Every Time! RUSH delivered Big Time in concert! Phenomenal band. I can’t believe I got to do all that. Some really cool tours, most of their famous albums.
Relentless practice, studying & learning from past drummers, & besides this, he wrote 99% of the lyrics from 18 of their 19 studio albums! A true poet & amazing drummer! RIP Professor Neil!!!
One band. One of the best drummers of all time. An elite bassist who is in the top 5. Some say a very underrated guitarist but could hold his own against the very best.
What most people do not realize and are unable to pick up on is the fact that many parts of this drum solo contain syncopation where he is playing more than one time signature at the same time some thing a very small percentage of humans can accomplish.
Yup. You can distinctly here the “tick, tick, tick, tick” from his left foot keeping time. A true friggin genius. R.I.P The Professor. When you think you know something about drums, he could school you.
Again this is time from Topinabee Michigan you have witnessed the best drummer ever Geddy Lee the best bassists ever Alex lifeson one of the best guitarist ever the best band ever for over 40 years thank you for listening to them
fun fact for anyone. Neil actually had a cold and nobody knew what to do since this was the show being filmed but he went on anyways. Just to show how great neil is RIP
He takes you around the world in 10 minutes. Not only a great drummer and percussionist, but a brilliant writer and lyricist, as well. Check out the song Freewill by Rush, where all three of them shred a killer instrumental jam in the middle. Cheers!
Where do I begin? People don't understand the difficulty in changing rhythm and tempo much less genres without missing a beat. And then the stamina to perform that long. He was a human metronome. In addition, he wrote all the lyrics for RUSH. He is the GOAT! The world became a lesser planet when we lost The Professor.
If you'd like to see another OMG performance from Neil and his Rush bandmates, be sure to see Xanadu from Exit Stage Left, where he plays practically everything you can hit with a stick, lead singer Geddy Lee sings, plays a double neck bass, and plays keyboards, and lead guitarist Alex Lifeson plays a double neck guitar; it's something that has to be seen to be believed. Cheers from Toronto! 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🐐 🐐 🐐
Really amazing!!!! Love it!! Precious now............. :) !!♥ “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
Great reaction and commentary!! When you listen to Rush, you cannot help, but appreciate the brilliance of The Professor(Neil Peart). He was a student of percussion, not just drumming and his style reflected that. His influence is carried on by quite a few current artists (Dave Grohl and Danny Carey , maybe the most prominent) and possibly many future artists. If you want to check out another great song, listen to 2112, Cygnus X-1: Book 1 and 2, and Natural Science. See what you think.
Neil did not feel that this was one of his best performances as he was dealing with having the flu at the time. All the horns at the end were triggered by him on his drumset. Danny Carey was inspired by Neil as were a number of other drummers. Please check out more Rush. You will not be disappointed. YYZ live in Rio Digital Man from the Snakes and Arrows tour Working Man live in Cleveland Rush are three master musicians from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 Unfortunately Neil Peart passed from brain cancer in January of 2020. He was one of the best in every sense of the word. Cheers 🇨🇦
Just wait until you see what many, including myself says is the very best Guitar Solo of all Time, Eddie Van Halen, "Eruption" (Live without a net)....that little Swing section at the end of this was Neil`s Tribute to Buddy Rich!
Good reaction. Drummers use a Metronome to keep time. A Metronome uses Neil Peart to keep time. He does this in the middle of a 3-hour concert. Why doesn't anybody talk about his foot work? It must be so easy for Drummers to do. Is that why?

The greatest that ever touched a drum set
I've watched a ton of reaction videos to this solo and you're the only one that has an interview with Neil going on in the background!! I LOVE IT!! :)

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform this live twice, absolutely mind blowing!
Me too both nights in Toronto was awesome
One band. One of the best drummers of all time. An elite bassist who is in the top 5. Some say a very underrated guitarist but could hold his own against the very best.
Your favorite drummers favorite drummer. RIP hero. Thank you for your honest reaction to Neil. Moved me bro. Thank you

R.I.P The Professor. When you think you know something about drums, he could school you.
Bonham was another who was gifted that way
@@robertboston7872 He was. The impressive thing about Bonzo, was that he was self taught.
Probably the best reaction to his drum solo I have ever seen. Everyone should be mind blown.
Young man, what you seen there, is The Professor Neil Peart, sitting behind a drum kit, giving the class a lesson.
He made it look so damn easy... IN THE MIDDLE OF A 3 HOUR CONCERT!
Again this is time from Topinabee Michigan you have witnessed the best drummer ever Geddy Lee the best bassists ever Alex lifeson one of the best guitarist ever the best band ever for over 40 years thank you for listening to them
I've always loved rush's music and they are the one band I've always regretted not going to see live r.i.p. Neil

The Rythym Method, also known in Germany as Der Trommler.
Think about this: He had already been playing for who knows how long before doing his solo, and there's no telling how long he played after the solo.
🤗 Subbed for 🥁 The Professor & hopefully some Rush! 🥰🐰
The best 3 man band ever! ....check out 'Working Man' live in Cleveland.
8:03 Oh, I'm sure he is. That's quite a workout.
Also check out gojiras drummers solo from red rocks concert it's pretty sick to

You should do cliff burtons bass solo anesthesia (pulling teeth) from Metallica
No offense to Danny. He is a great drummer. Bit Neal is a master percussionist and lyricist.

Good reaction.
