Alex: What are you doing at 23?
Me at 23: Sitting on my bum at home looking at John's car.
You are not alone mate 😂
I'd probably have done the same shit as John if I had that kind of money...
@@knightryder4021 make that 3
@@thosr861 Feel ya
@@thosr861 Yep, money is a big factor in all of this.
It's like a mini Aston Martin Vulcan - exceptional build, well done John and his Dad
I thought of the Vulcan too😛 amazing stuff
My thoughts exactly absolutely incredible!!
Yep was going to comment the same
Strangely really well put 😂
Like the Vulcan and the viper
“I’ll own it for the next 50 years”. Better not get anyone up the duff anytime soon. Smashing car mate. Even for a rotary.
Yeah or Gas prices and Anti-emission rules keep going the way they're going. 😭
Might be able to afford the insurance by then
Whoaaa, even for a rotary? Rotary cars a quality pal
Every petrol head everytime🤣...just wait 2 years cause this projectcar is nearly done by now🤣
I thought the same about my cars...
@@aidan6557 they sound cool but I don’t think they are really worth all the hassle that comes with them. Awful fuel consumption, reliability is suspect, fuel additive headache. It’s just not worth it compared to other piston engines. This is why K swapping them is so popular. Oh and you don’t need to pull the engine to rebuild it every 40 to 60k
"Perfectly legal officer" love it
I can't believe he did that to his leather jacket...
@@DashCamSerbia That's the power of lust for the RX7 🤣
When I was 23 I couldn't even afford to fill up such a car, let alone drive it with the horrendous fuel consumption. Don't get me wrong, the RX7 is one of my favorite cars and I love this one quite a lot.
“What were you doing when you’re 23?” Sitting here watching this video wishing I was capable of building a car full-stop.
Capable? That wasn't problem. Money sure as hell was.
@@jothain for some skill is a larger obstacle.
@@ligametis Hear, hear. Some have the daddy wallet option.
@@jothain Yes, some have the money. But they migh still not have skill to do something like this.
@@jothain sounds like jealousy to me mate. I bought my Rx7 aged 20 (which wasn't that long ago) and it was all from my own money.
Got a chance to see this beast at Japfest in Silverstone this year, absolutely one of the most stunning builds I have ever seen! Great work!
RX7 is one of the most beauty cars ever made. You can tuning It in 1000 ways and still look stuning, amazing car, pure elegance but in same time is all muscles and rage, love it
Glad you've discovered how much fun the RX-7 is. The thing is, the FD is designed from scratch as a sports car, rather than being based on a saloon like GTRs and M3s. The whole fundamental architecture of the car is just right, which is why it feels so good to drive.
Great work by John here, the bodykit and paint look world-class and the wheels and stance back it up. I love the originality with the front lip and centre-exit exhaust, too!
Having said that, most of the changes aren't about how it drives, so a stock-bodied car with a mildly tuned engine would still give you most of the same thrill from behind the wheel - no need to spend years slaving away in your garage to get the RX-7 grin on your face!
I'm also 23, just a few weeks ago bought an MX-5 Mk1 for a project car. I could never hope to build something that looks like that. Absolutely amazing
If this was only the single line to the story of my car life…I’ve got a beautiful car - take back, two beautiful cars and a truck, planted in my garage right now that have fouled the minds of several mechanics and given me grief over the last couple years. Sometimes these things take a part of your soul with them, down the 6ft hole of life. I’ve grew from a horrible place to a better one, and these vehicles were so much a part of my rehab. And now they have been the agony of my defeat. I’ve not given up, but surely lost too many pieces of me to put myself back together. It’s always the little nitty that eat away at a person’s sanity and harmony. Cheers & thanks again for all your hard work in putting together true entertainment for us all.
Over the last 28 years of driving I have owned 20 cars, I owned 2 FD3's in that time frame, and I can esily say this car is the one I miss the most, on the emotional thrill meter they were so fun and rewarding to drive, they handled like big go-carts, I am one of those Wankel diehards, I know many had love-hate relationships with the motor's reliability, but a thermostat and some 3mm Apex seals really addressed the main issues in my humble opinion, the 8k+ redline just made for such a unique and exciting experience, it took a brain reset as initially I would start to think about shifting around 5k, only to realize I was in the meat of the power band in these cars and still had another 3,000 RPMs to play with.
This car is so sick! Can't believe they put it so well together in that garage - respect!
Glad a real car finally made it to this channel . There's too much hate on the rotary and it's all by people who have zero rotary experience. I had a 1987 FC for 10 years and never opened the motor up
This is the most beautiful FD I have seen. I am really, really envious of John sorting this out at TWENTY THREE. Are you kidding me? Absolute Legend.
This is just amazing!
Thank you so much John, you’ve made my day with this astonishing piece of art you’ve built.
Respect +++
That is by far the nicest rx7 I have ever seen, credit to the owner that car is stunning.
I had one of these as a poster car and was fortunate enough to own one, it did not disappoint. As you said a truly special car and I wish I hadn't had to sell mine, funnily enough I drove mine to where you are in the video to see family at Christmas time before I sold it so this brings back a lot of memories. Keep up the cracking content guys.
I was working double shifts at mcdonalds to pay my rent loans when I was 23. I'm no economist, but last time I checked, people don't just end up with 50k legendary Japanese sports cars at such a young age unless their mum owns a bank or two.
Its a 6000£ car from 1994.
This . I can give props to him .but most people don't even have access to a garage to do it in .
@@joempoem478 Add another zero onto that buddy.
You haven't been able to pick up an FD for anywhere near 6k for a very long time 😂
Given his dad was working with him I imagine it was a father and son project. Either way, the dedication to it is impressive and it looks every inch a new car.
I'd have been impressed if he worked half a day in his life and built that car. Sounds like a mommy's boy sitting in daddy's garage with daddy's wallet.
Stopped it at 4.40 so far... M
The noises he makes inside the car are just quality🤣😂
This episode proudly sponsored by tenalady.
I've always loved the rx7 but hate 99% of them with body kits....except this one! I utterly adore it, just sublime.
Love the RX7 so much. My Grandad was on the original engineering team for the Rotary. I never got to meet him, but stuff like this makes me feel closer to him.
"[JDM] isnt really my bag" proceeds to love it enough to mention it in the title, doesnt stop smiling, and just the face on cold start says everything.
Wish I was rich enough to own one at 20 years old... Must be nice being born in a fairly wealthy family who support what you want to do. My parents constantly deny any mod ideas I have for my golf mk2..
Your assumption about John is very wrong, in fact it couldn't be more wrong... but enjoy your miserable life won't you now buddy👍🏻
@@ScaryPanda13 It's not about being miserable, it is a statement of fact that no matter how many hours someone puts into a project car, at the end of the day, money is what makes a project progress. It doesn't detract from the work ethic of John or the sheer quality of the finished car at all. I'm sat here adding up how much just parts alone will be to rebuild my Land Rover and it's eye watering, let alone how long it will take on between working Monday to Friday, time away for months at a time with work each year, and everything else. John has clearly worked incredibly hard, but he is also a very lucky lad.
@@ScaryPanda13 It is miserable, thought about suicide multiple times as I'm not interested in a wake up, work, sleep repeat life, but my assumption is most likely correct. I assume most of the money he spent was his father's, not his own.
@@tomjackson1923 exactly this, I feel bad for every penny I spend on the car even though I love the result, have to have a part-time job to be able to insure 2 cars that I have as my parents don't help me at all with anything car related
@Bevan No, I agree, most wealthy people just tell others to do things for them, just Alex annoying me with constantly repeating his age, just tilted me as it's not possible for majority of us to do such a feat with no money
Now I’m 13 and I want one of these in the next 10 years just by seeing it on a screen.
That's an amazing build👏 , big up to the young man!! Can wait to see what he will be doing in the future
God bless the guy who lent him the RX7 😂 Now he finally understands us JDM heads
Leaving some respect to this young man for his awesome rx7👍🏽
The best part is the fact that the owner go for rides on the car.. a car like this should be in a museum
The future care getting some love. Can't wait to get an Rx7
Alex: "and remember he's 23yro. What were you doing at 23?"
Me a 24yro: barely able to pay rent Alex. ... Barely able to pay rent 🥲
feels bad man also so true.
Literslly in your exact shoes. 24,broke and now feeling rather inadequate. Like where do you even start with doing a project car like this making your own body work?!
@@hariboproductions buy cheap 2 part epoxy and fiber glass sheet it doesnt cost much and learn to do curves make a mold i havnt done it yet but have researched it very interesting. and you start by seeing where u can go money wise like instead of new rims look out for used facebook marketplace ones the body work try making your own over fenders if u get good with fiberglass there is ways, but u pay with lots of time learning and failing.
I FEEL YOU
@@hariboproductions Don't feel too bad. I absolutely love what this guy (and his dad) did with this RX7, but clearly he is pretty well off. You don't have the resources to buy and build a car like this without having a fair bit of money. (and don't forget the garage and equipment which isn't cheap either)
Don't feel bad thinking you're a failure, I know it's an easy thing to indulge in, but try not to.
That's insane!😍Literally what dreams are made of! I'd love to be able to do something like that but I wouldn't even know where to start let alone probably be able to buy an RX7 in the first place.
I bought my FD RX7 many years ago. I don’t get to drive it as much as I would like but it always brings a huge smile to my face. If you’re looking at one try to keep it reasonably standard. The second hand values are starting to sky rocket but only on standard cars. I guess though if you are saving a car from the crusher it’s fine to modify it but not for me I wanted to keep mine standard from the outside. It has a more free flowing exhaust and updated radiator but that’s it.
That FD is super impressive. Love the chook cooka. Exceptional build.
Living the need for speed lifestyle in real life! Amazing work
John is the definition of a mad lad no joke.
John is going to make a big name for himself in the future. Really talented. Lovely car.
*Amazing work.*
seen celebrity builders not do as good of a job as this, Massive well done
Wow, love that. At 23 as well. That lad is living the dream!
Sounds great, centre exit exhaust is 👌
I am a old fart and by the age of 23 I had been married for two years but I had helped to build two kit cars and fitted a sd1 v8 in my series 2a Land Rover. When I was 23 if you wanted it you built it or mended it and it’s brilliant to see a young lad building things and not just putting his hand in his pocket and paying someone else to do it. The spirit of a she’d builders lives on :-) keep it up.
It’s nice that he’s building it, but there’s definitely been a hand deep in a pocket for this
@@alanhillyard1639 I agree but he’s not just dropped it off at a garage with a open cheque book and said build it. Him and his dad got there hands dirty and I bet one of the best bits of the build was working with his dad and inventing things along the way. Me and my son modified a 200tdi discovery years ago and we had a right laugh and my son learnt to weld on that car it was a Land Rover they come standard with rust we saved loads of money and gained experience at the same time.
@@arightpest3367 wish my dad was into cars, and that I could afford anything. Any mods I say I want to do he straight up denies saying it's a waste of money lol
@@shikiagi6226 oh it’s always a bad idea modding things and cost you time money and from time to time skin and bloody but it’s fun lol. Perhaps not the bleeding bit lol.
@@arightpest3367 It's just I never really had any hobbies, when I was of age to pass driving license I became interested more and more, I could afford smaller mods but it's just I don't want to make my dad mad lol, everytime I mention an exhaust or lowering the car he just says I'm retarded and it's a waste of money lol
Him and his Dad have done a great job, that is crazy looking and gorgeous. Love it.
I used this kit in FH5 and painted it candy red with work wheels or Hres can't remember. I was wondering what it resembled so much in my head and came across this video and now I remember. I have a custom livery on that car now but the front end is still red. This still blows my mind to see until now.
"youre gonna be here alot"
Says the guy with a whole episode on great mpg from a Rotary 😂
There aren't the words to describe how gorgeous and aggressive this car manages to look at the same time. Amazing work John and Dad.
Really talented young fella! Gotta love jdm cars especially with spectacular finish like this one!
Rx-7 is my DREAM car I really really love it and each video I’m watching about it make my feel more comfortable about the idea to one day by myself one :)
What a build! Normally I would think a car with that exterior is a bit OTT, but I think it really suits the car!
That is an absolute weapon, massive respect to the father & son who built it 👌
7:59 ah yes. There's that look of "this is going to rip!". lmao
One thing I’d like to know is how much money was spent in that considering he’s only 23?
ask his dad
@@Invin_cibles Yeah, the Dad’s probably loaded, no wonder he has access to all that at such a young age…envy…he’s in a better position than most
This car is local to me. Spotted it a few times and had assumed it was imported with the body kit etc. Looks amazing. Great job.
I'm glad that this video has such reach glorifying an essentially stock fd. Oem+ is seriously the best set up for any fd. No one needs crazy power in these things. The stock twins are PLENTY
23 years old? He's amazing, just like his RX-7. You're a LEGEND!
Man I love RX-7's ..one day i'll buy one....or at least some sort of rotary hahaa hopefully this! - INSURANCE: ANY MODS ON THE RX7. OWNER: NAH NAH STOCK MATE CAME LIKE THIS 🙃Wild that he built that spliter to!
I think that's perfection and super beautiful build.
The fact that he keeps the zenki taillights makes me so happy.
This is one of those cars that might not be to one's taste, but the execution alone makes it something very special. I never thought I'd be calling something with guards like this 'a class act', and yet, here I am...
What a nice Guy and what a nice build.
Well done Mate!
alex needs to drive more old jdm stuff they really are some of the best cars from that era
I take my hat off to John and his dad for a fantastic job. Ive been a rotary fan since I had my RX4 that I built and should have never sold. This makes me want to build another.
1:36 In Germany we would say: "Stillgelegt!"
Those fender fins are a work of art.
My JDM G spot has well and truly been tickled. What an awesome motor.
TVR Sagaris vibes. Lovely car you’ve built, John.
God damn i love the RX-7 so much! And finally there is a special one beside all the Veilside and Abflug Bodykits with an LS swap!
Sorry, was never 23 with rich parents....
Wow, amazing work esp at 23!
The bodywork is amazing, look so sporty and clean but also looks functional. The guy really has taste with the design too!
I love the garage shed thing too, plenty of space and it's got that lift too, it's really fantastic stuff!
Credit to the lad...remarkable for his age
The design of the RX-7 was just so far ahead of it's time. I know it's been modded, but it looks like it just came out in 2022.
Is anyone else getting very TVR Cerbera Speed 12 vibes off this? The side view especially makes me wonder if John took inspiration from the TVR. Either way, very, very good work!
2:58
Thank you so much 🙏
Saw this car at Japfest a couple months ago, such a cool car just has to be seen in person, love it
OMG this is a BEAUTY!!!😍
Alex is happy because he is enjoying the fruit of John and his father sweat and tears on the car, rotary is one of the most high maintenance car, like on Alex’s rx8 built in the past, it is good to look at, good to hear but pain in the butt to maintenance 😂
Work of art, one of the most underrated cars ever
Alex: what were you doing when you were 23
Me: I wasn't 23 for sometime yet
I was still playing with my balls at 23, This dude is building cars!
Big respect to the lad.
A great build and lovely sentiment at the end Alex. . The production quality and these videos in general are getting better and better all the time.
This young man surely must have a career in the car industry some where. Great car, great video guys again.
That is one of the most spectacular RX-7s I've ever seen... the front wing arches are like shark gills and just look so violent 🦈 fantastic project 🤩
Wow I’ve seen a lot of RX7s and this is up there with some of the most spectacular ones. This build is a thing of beauty just love that red paint work
"What were you doing when you were 23?"
I was also building cars like that...
... In need for speed
Perfection personified..just wow and from a young man who put his dreams into action. Well done
Would have been nice to see the reaction on John's face after you told him how fantastic you found the car ... great find .
A little to BAT mobile for my taste but it appears to be a great build. It is hard for me to explain to people just how great it is to drive a well sorted Fd. I have owned mine since 1998. Driving it makes me smile right away
Seen this beauty on a few adamC videos, wanted a better look at it for a while, and it's even better than I expected 😀
Totally love this FD, tastefully done up. Miss my FD in Sydney, had to sell it as I had to return to my country. It is irreplaceable and the FD is truly a special car!
the front arch looks amazing Masha Allah this is super impressive. Smart young man 👍
I dunno it loos like there is a different car glued to the front of the RX7. But fuck me, mad respect for building this.
Nice build inside and out!!! 5 yrs from now, make it a hybrid (keep the engine n sound)!!
The vents in the bonnet and near the wheels look super clean. Very Amg GT Black'esque ( which is a beautiful car ).
Not a big fan of the wing myself. Just doesn't look as polished as the front end. Not that I could do better. But I need to make sure I do some good armchair analysis.
I'm 23 and starting my mx5 project to look fairly similar to that actually.... But damn yeah that's impressive as hell, this has given me a lot of inspiration for mine!
Beautiful car man, I have an FD RX7 too. Have had it since 2006 and this is my 2nd one. I put a 20b in it back in 2008, but as of yet, haven't gotten it running correctly. I'm thinking about ditching the 20b and going RB26. I've got an RB30 in my R33 GTR Vspec and still have my old 2.6. Just need an RWD oil pan, and valve covers. 550hp soulful be plenty for the light body FD, and with the torque of the IL6 that should make for an amazing car.
Damn, I like the sound of an RB in an RX7. You just know it's gonna trigger some people but I bet it'd be amazing. May screw up the weight balance, though, the rotary engine weighs fuck all
That's an amazing build👏 , big up to the young man!! Can wait to see what he will be doing in the future, man I love the rx-7 I hope they make an rx9
Reminds me of a dodge from behind , love this build
Thats possible the nicest car i have ever seen well John and dad
I'm 23. I'm watching people build insane cars on UA-cam.
This is a piece of art
Looks like something one would encounter in GTAV online. Unreal, but real enough that it could be real.
