Really needed to hear this. I'm writing a small data language to handle array and object transformations that I do hundreds of times every single day, and its radically increasing my productivity. But whenever I mention to someone I'm writing a small language, I am met with incredible backlash regarding how its a terrible idea, etc. I'm very certain my language won't ever grow to be a language used by others, but just hearing that he wrote PHP to make his own life easier makes a lot of sense

This is exactly how open source should work, get things done. Well done Rasmus.

"We'd rather have an ugly feature than not have a feature at all" - Agreed. You have to start somewhere

Like somewhat as such create something that looks awful even the worst way you could do something, to then learn from it to do a better job next time or even go and do it right away depends haha

PHP is what is all about. Thank you, Rasmus, for inventing it. Sure there are other server side scripting languages, but PHP is opensource and very easy to learn. It's a language for anybody who wants to use computer programming to take their projects and dreams to the next level. :)
I recommend learning PHP instead of Java or C++ or ASP. Use any server side scripting language with HTML, CSS, and jQuery for web application development. AJAX takes SSL + BSL and integrates it all.

There is simply no way PHP could not have turned out that bad with an attitude like that. How can one expect quality when quantity is all that matters?
