Here the only remaining building: Hotel Zum Türken, is situated direct next to the former Berghof.
I think the music is extremely well chosen and telling. "Vertigo", it's what a lot of us will feel when watching this video, a sense of absence, maybe the nostalgia of a all but disappeared world...
The music is spot on, very nostalgic.
One of the much better You Tube productions. In some ways eerily sinister in other ways it shows time marching on. Only I switched off the sound and played Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-Flat major, Op. 73 - to finese what a saw.
The music is from: Hitchckok's Film "Verigo", Composer: Lalo Schifrin. Obersalzberg is really full of things to discover.
The Berghof site would be a wonderful spot for my new mountain home!

@Zyworski The Bathroom is inside the hotel "Zum Türken". The (almost) only remaining building that was originally rebuild after the war 1945.
moin... kann es sein, dass es den notausgang des berghofbunkers unterhalb des berghoft nicht mehr gibt, weil er vielleicht zugeschüttet wurde.. ? ich habe lange gesucht aber konnte dort nichts finden. wo genau ist er, wenn man vom hotel zum türken den kleinen weg richtung ostflügel geht ?

ok danke für den hinweis...nur um klarzustellen..du bist vom hotel zum türken aber schon entlang der strasse runter gegangen NICHT hoch oder ? also am fussweg zur berghof ruine vorbei, dann in die zugeschüttete, ehemalige zufahrtstrasse zum berghof rein, was bewachsen ist, oder die strasse entlang, die macht dann nen leichten links schlenker...bis zur obersalzbergstrasse...runter gehts zum gutshof und hoch zum haus hoher göll und ex platterhof...

is it true that you can go from the hotel directly in the old bunker?

+ZUG STEINER Hallo, Ja, vom Hotel zum Tuerken kann mann durch einen Seiteneingang direct in das gut erhaltene Bunkersystem steigen und das auch wenn man nicht Hotelgast ist. Wer daran interessiert ist, sollte die Anlage unbedingt sehen, denn wer weiss wie lange die Bunkeranlage zugaenglich sein wird.
das ist echt krass. werden wir uns auf alle fälle merken. hast recht so lange das noch möglich ist. denn wer weiß ob nicht bald mal alles unter wasser steht oder gar zu gemacht wird....

I sort of surprised that Hitler didn't have the hotel torn down so it couldn't overlook his estate, it's so much closer than I'd realized.

But what happened to the bricks and stones from the Berghof? Somebody's got an extension or a garage built with them.
@DxStyla Einige Jahre und Bücher später, kam ich auch zum Schluss, dass diese Mauer in der Tat wenig mit dem eigentlichen Gebäude, dem Berghof, zu tun hat, sondern dass es sich um die obligate hintere Stützmauer handeln muss, die eigentlich bei allen Bauten an einem Hang errichtet wird.
I miss bavarian hotels. Such great decor and food. And yes the music is ridiculous.

Hi, das Markenzeichen aller meiner Videos ist die übermässig "gewichtige" Musik. Ich pinsle dabei nicht sondern schmeiss den Farbkübel gleich mit drauf. Für Sommer /Winter 2012 ist noch eine eigene Doku über das Teehaus und über die Wolfsschanze vorgesehen. Die Musik ist bereits ausgesucht und dazu muss ich nur noch die Bilder machen. Aber ich kann schon heute sagen, auch hier wird mit der Musik nicht gekleckert. Vielen Dank für die Rückmeldung und ich hoffe Du bleibst meinem Kanal treu.
I was there in April 2010. It is a very nice location and you get breathtaking views. But sadly they put away nearly every evidence that there once was a building named the Berghof. I was there with my metall detector and found a few coins, empty cartidges and lots of crap. The best thing I found was a 2 Reichsmark silver coin from 1937. Maybe Adolf Hitler himself lost this coin as he went with his dog "Blondie" through the mountains of Berchtesgaden. A nice souvenier ;)

@DxStyla Auf diesen Hinweis musste ich lange warten. Das Video entstand anlässlich meines 2. Besuches am Obersalzberg. Ich hatte mich etwas vorbereitet und nahm alte Fotos vom Berghof mit um mich einigermassen zurechtzufinden.
If you are interested have a look at my latest video about the tea house (Teehaus am Mooslahnerkopf) who was situated 30 walking minutes from the Berghof and Hitler and his entourage went almost every day there for a cup of tea. It's also totally destroyed now.

Genau, vom Türken der Strasse runter, die erste Abzweigung links führt zur ehem. Stützmauer und damals zum Anbau. Weiter unten ist wie Du beschreibst die ehemalige Zufahrtstrasse zur Treppe. Sicherlich bin ich vom Berghofstandplatz noch etwas nach unten Richtung Golfplatz geklettert. Aber so genau weiss ich es nicht mehr. Viel Erfolg und rapportiere mir, ob Du es gefunden hast.

@DxStyla berliner-unterwelten.de bietet übrigens fantastische Führungen durch das unterirdische Berlin. Die amtierenden Lokalpolitiker von Berchtesgaden haben den Trend der Zeit noch nicht erkannt und machen die bestehenden Bunkeranlagen bis heute nicht für Besucher frei. Sollte es eines Tages soweit kommen, werde ich mich dort als Touristenführer bewerben.

Ich denke nicht, das Hotel wurde bei der Bombardierung des Berghof ebenfalls starkt beschädigt und die Bevölkerung hat sicherlich nicht nur den Berghof sondern auch das angrenzende Hotel geplündert. Aber so könnte es ausgesehen haben. Denn die Besitzer sind ja die gleichen geblieben und haben sicherlich alles so genau wie möglich ausgestattet.

Hallo, so genau weiss ich auch nicht mehr wo das Tor zu finden ist. Aber ich bin mir sicher, ich bin nach dem Türken nicht den ersten Weg links gegangen, sondern ich habe die 2. Abzweigung nach links genommen, die einem eigentlich in den Wald führt, ohne Weg. Irgendwo da, sicherlich weiter unten muss ich den Eingang aufgenmmen haben. Kann auch sein, dass dieser jetzt zugeschüttet wurde, wegen der Gefahr, dass Leute das Vorhängeschloss aufbrechen könnten.

Shame the Allies bombed this occasional residence of Hitler. He was rarely there after 1939. Its great that the Kehlsteinhaus survived though and it is thriving as a restaurant

Soweit mit bekannt ist wurde alles für Historiker Interessante gesprengt - Politiker bei der Arbeit eben. Alleine am Teeverkauf am Mooslahnerkopf samt Bustourismus von Flughafen aus hätte sich der Freistaat Bayern komplett sanieren können. Nun frag ich mich aber warum käme so ein Teeumsatz im bayrischen Landtag sicherlich nicht zusammen. LOL
+Jonacast - Verlag und Medienservice Es wurde damals durch die Amerikaner gesprengt... denn die Ruinen des Berghofes wurden als Wahlfahrtort durch die überzeugten Nazis genutzt und mit Parolen verziert.....

I have heard these stories myself, from my uncle, as well as the sons of WW2 veterans. These men (the ones still alive) are not happy about how they were decieved by the 'Newspapers' and 'the press' of the day.
Yes, the golden elevator ist still there. It will remain like this even when they will change the engine. The elevator is part of the history. In Berchtesgaden there is a group of people who is against the destruction of all evidences of this time.

I think this music is too dramatic for such a beautiful and peaceful place. The music implies guilt and shame. Has Hitler's presence stained this region eternally? My view is that this land is an oasis, a snake may want to inhabit it, but that doesn't mean it is welcome. It's time for someone to build a church upon this site and erase Adolph's legacy. Let's not forget Hitler was a stranger to this place. He simply stole it. Let this neighborhood live in peace the way nature intended.
