One of the biggest letdowns for me is having the ability to create *_five_* characters being teased and ultimately scrapped.
But would you really want to go out of the way of unlocking three other characters?
Which when you start a new character you only have a pistol and you gotta make a new character with the same or different stats every time

Having companions that could help you on jobs in freeroam or even missions is something that would flow nicely, and if you have a friend obviously you both would have body guards, probably at least. I think it opens up more opportunities for Friends while having bonuses for Solo.
At least they gave us Merryweather support unit
The death screen is actually so cool. I wish it was like that in the final release.
It looks like the normal Story Mode Death screen just not in Slow-mo. The PS3/Xbox 360 one.

I wonder if somehow, the Cheat Engine or similar could be used in order to add money. It would be a great way to explore the feature deeply and find more hidden dialogues.

They sorta did it with the merryweather phone contact but still it would have been alot cooler to be able to do it with all the gangs too

Fun fact: The idea of a GTA Online actually came to TakeTwo in 1999 for DMA Design (the former Rockstar North) after the release of GTA 2. It was supposed to be called GTA: Online Crime World, unknown if it was to release before or after GTA 3D (GTA III).

And when that didn't get off the ground fans made their own. GTA SA Multiplayer is still popular to this day. They started with the multiplayer in stories, the multiplayer in GTA 4, GTA 5's multiplayer would have been the same as the last one but they transformed it into an online multiplayer and after a while it became its own standalone game.

GTA III was even supposed to have some sort of online connectivity for some multiplayer modes. A video discussing that is on Vadim M's channel.

That death screen was so dope, it showed the exact spot where they killed you, and the weapon they were using, WHY DIDNT ROCKSTAR PUT THIS IN THE GAME

It's Unclear how many units they sold estimations say 40000 to 3 million in the first week.
What is known 2 years later, they announced that the game sold 4 million In total. GTA5 at At the time.

Never happened to me in Heists on 1st day when it came out.
Then after that the rpg and everything happened.
Well you did your little race intro and entered into gta online but weapons and health packs like gta 4, people shooting and punching eachother.
Getting 3 or more Member NPCs would be nice

It's a shame they never allowed us to have more than two characters.
It's a shame that we never got to have the NPC backup.
It's also a big shame that they never made GTA Online compatible with local multiplayer, which could have added more purpose to having secondary characters.
A visiting player on local multiplayer could either log in and play with their own character on the same screen as the host player, or they could play as a guest using one of the host player's additional characters.

Thank you for crediting me lol, I really hope we find a way to obtain money in beta Online (fun fact, if you go to an ATM it says you're 1 billion dollars in debt). There'd definitely be many fun things to test that way.

I really enjoyed playing with my friends gta online on ps3,I started playing in 2014 until the last day in 2021 when it closed..I still wonder what are my old characters doing..=)I heard that on ps5 you can restore the progress and the character from ps3,is this true?

The gang backup thing would’ve been a really interesting feature but I suppose that was just reworked into “Call Mercenaries” via Merryweather. This was quite interesting.

Very cool that this was found hopefully we find more stuff about this version of gta online.
This seems weirdly consistent with the screenshots an ex rockstar employee (left in 2014) called Steven Walsh had posted on his website in his portfolio about early desigs for the GTAV/O user interface and other ingame items and then got DMCA'd to hell and back by rockstar for posting those. The yellow level/RP thing at the top for example matches with his images.
If you search for his name on the GTA Wiki, the last link in the external links section will be an archived link to his portfolio from back in 2016. Note the 3rd image called "HUD & UI DESIGN" and how the level up/RP thing looks...
Yeah, you're correct. Back in the early days of making Online, it was more considered to be a 'GTA V Multiplayer', rather than it's own separate entity, like it is today. In the pics, you could see that the gangs you could ranged from the Vagos, the Lost MC, or being a Police Officer, maybe a Cops N Crooks mode? The weapon HUD was very different as well, for a time. Until it was updated to look more akin to how it is today.
I fucking love how the death screen shows where you got shot on a practice target like in Max Payne 3, that is so damn cool !!!!!!! Granted GTA V was built off MP3 but it's so neat to see in GTA and updated.
The body target showing where you got hit when you die was cool and I feel would make it a bit more interesting when you die.

Would've loved the idea of arming your gang of NPCs with whatever weapons you like. It would also be great for vehicles like the Insurgent or APC where you could have a crew to man it even if you have no friends to play with.
For a game where you're a literal criminal mastermind the amount of support you get is lacking
backup gang members would've been amazing to have, especially with them using the turrets on things like the insurgent

@@Hasanovicc18 if i remember correctly has Rockstar games 2 stages, stage 1 being pre production (doing things like writing the story and thinking how the map show look) and stage 2 is full production (creating the map, mocap and Programming the game in general) stage 1 would be start between 2 games and stage 2 begins after the latest game is released
Backup should be in online, it would help a lot player like me that do everything solo, and make it more fun of course, the gta online interaction is completely dead, game need npcs to actually help u in free mode
its funny actually, the phone can still play the beta navigation sounds if you get a mission title on screen as well
Yeah that NPC backup needs to be added in the December DLC. There’s no excuse now that we know that they were planning on adding that feature.

Makes sense that when the game first dropped, on the SWITCH wheel the online slot was that same yellow orange colour as seen in this beta and then when online was fully released it changed to dark blue

This just shows how to higher peeps at Rockstar are the worst and not the developers itself. They made an awesome version of Online and the higher ups just declined it and told them to make it garbage

The reason why the RP bar, the circle surrounding the weapons HUD, and the pause menu colour are all yellow is because that was supposed to be the colour representing our online character, similarly to how Franklin is Green, Michael is Blue, and Trevor is Orange/Red.

Yeah they were supposed to be added from the start, you can even see it from the first online trailer
So Al Carter and Edgar Claros was used for backup but ended just being receptors for drug vehicles events on free roam.
Actually getting gang members to fight for you is a cool feature I wish was added to Online.

I've seen a lot of people reminiscing about the "glory days" of GTA online, but everything that's mentioned was always normal probably because I stopped playing in 2018 and haven't seen any of the new changes. So what exactly has changed in GTA online that has made it so much worse?

I have a question, when the game came out i wasn't able to do heists in GTA Online until 2014 or 2015, it was an update to Online or the heists were since the game came out?
heists were meant to be available at launch, but they added them in the 1.24 update (a year later after release)

Fun fact: According to a GameInformer article from 2017, ome the developers admitted that GTA Online was "slowly failing" in 2014 because of its bad launch, its DLC's "not being interesting" and the amount of times heists had to be redone. They were also losing a lot of players during that time.
Just think what GTA V and even Rockstar could have been if GTAO had indeed failed...
We'd already get Bully 2, MC sequel, GTA 6 etc.
Would just take more time to make them advanced than original.
Also RDR2 is reused material of RDR.
Still has RDR animations and musics in gamefiles.
The textures of NA and objects still exist in the game.
They still working on untitled new GTA, but Bully 2 and Midnight Club sequel, I don't think they're working on it.
@@farhanrizkiahnafa7404, according to sources (all listed in its Wikipedia article lol), Bully 2 was cancelled sometime before 2013. I guess Rockstar didn't have motivation for it.
@@SeriousDragonify, I personally think its failure could have made Rockstar more productive. Maybe we would have gotten RDR2 released much earlier, gotten some Story Mode DLC's as originally planned and perhaps gotten a sequel or two to MC and Bully.
And of course, maybe GTA VI released between 2018 and 2020.

Plus rockstar never gave big story dlc's and UN "story" was garbage.
You had to do tasks to unlock story missions.
CDPR is only one who did story missions correctly with expanding the game of doing other things and unlocking rewards that carries in ng+.
Which is why doesn't suit for Strauss Zelnick.
